Nice rooms, but bathroom can use an update

Thistle Hotel is great option for anyone visiting Johor Bahru. Although it is not exactly in the town center, it is only a few minute cab ride away and they also have regular shuttle bus to the different shopping areas. The pool is big and the fitness center seemed very clean and I enjoyed the indoor jacuzzi. The room is decent and clean as well. The only thing was the bathtub and sink was showing its age. I think it can use an update. It was a bit of a disappointment when I walked into the bathroom. I definitely recommend getting the breakfast. I give it 4/5.

Easily the best hotel in JB

We stayed over during the weekends. Thistle is our choice whenever we stay over. If you don't mind the fact that it is abit far off (Near Danga bay), it is a great hotel with little or no flaws! You can Just stay in hotel and enjoy the nice facilities if you just want to relax.
Restaurant Tip:
You can get around pretty easily by cab. Do make sure you travel by meter or agree on a fixed amount! Visit Taman Sentosa for nice food and great massage places!

Hotel rooms are old and need to be refurbish. One of the receptionist is inflexible to give us connecting rooms and needs to improve on her customer service skills. Tiles in the swimming pool are poorly maintain and users need be careful not to cut their feet.

Environment of hotel is ease. Bed is comfortable. Completed room amenities. Wall is quite thin layer have some noise. Room is very dim because only contain 3 table lamps in a room. Bathroom wood door is not able close. Promised to repair but not done well. Room temperature is too cool even off air-con still the same. Requested mineral water there is a charges with per bottle. When check out time, the receptionist is told me there are free. Make many calls for booked taxi but no reply and given incorrect info. Overall is need to improve the service for up to standardize.
Shopping Tip:
Hotel provided shuttle bus. If interest to go to Singapore shopping just booking taxi with concierge counter only charges RM80. If get outside cab would be charge around RM160.

Great hotel with a great pool

I would like to comment the hotel staff for having a great initiative. When we arrive at the hotel & check in we were usher to the lobby lounge for a welcome drink. As we have not had our lunch, we order some food. When this particular waitress saw that we waited long for the food, she served us mushroom soup & bread as we have young children with us. This is indeed a pleasant surprise for us. We will definitely be back to stay in this hotel again. Thanks much.

Definitely worth every cents of my money staying at Thistle Hotel. Room is spacious and nice. place is pretty quiet and nice swimming pool for my kids to enjoy. The outside foodstalls also offers very nice food at affordable price and definitely I will be back to the hotel with my family.

If, like me you think Singapore is out-pricing itself in Asia as far as hotels go, then you should try the Thistle Hotel in Johor Bahru. It's just across the causeway in Malaysia. It's a bargain and 4 star quality too. What we paid for a deluxe double room at the Thistle wouldn't even get a super budget hotel in Singapore. The rooms were large with great views of the straits of Johor, Singapore, and JB city. Our room number was 815. Great pool and pool setting too. The breakfast was rather nice and the check-in was quick and friendly. Its a peaceful and relaxing hotel and credit to the staff for good customer service.
