Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Extended stay at Gaya and were happy to do so. The room and breakfast weren't top notch, but they were good for the money and the staff were ever-helpful.

Situated just next to Suria Sabah Shopping mall in Kota Kinabalu. Big plus point as it's walking distance to so many other attraction in the city centre.
Room was very spacious and everything looks very new.

Perfect location
Shopping mall and f&b a stone throw away

Just next to Suria Shopping mall.
Dozens of f&b outlets in walking distance from hotel. Easy to locate Halal food nearby which was good for my Muslim colleagues.
Free parking are available in limited quantity. You may park at the carpark with additional charges which in my opinion a little bit too expensive.

Overall very good hotel with afforadable rate
location is super next to 2 shopping centers also very good breakfast buffet
8.3
We enjoyed this stay here. The room was very nice and clean with ocean view. The location is also super, right next to the Suria Sabah and Wisma Merdeka shoppings. The breakfast was also very good. You can sit outdoor in the balcony area with sea view. The only little minus is that there is no wifi in the room, only in the lobby. But this is still a good value hotel and we will repeat it when we come here again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The hotel is very close to the ferry terminal. Be sure to go a few day trips to the marine park. You can pick from one to three islands in a day. There are lots of packages from the pier to shop around. The beaches on these islands are gorgeous.

nice budget hotel
walking distance to the ferry. across the street from suria sabah
6.7
nice no-thrills hotel. "ocean view" rooms are partially blocked by the mall across the street. traffic noise from the street can be pretty loud. mountain view rooms might be quieter. daily breakfast buffet is adequate. overall a descent budget hotel for the money.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
in-house travel tour & travel service is very convenient. The lady working the counter is very knowledgeable and polite. prices for tours are the same so no need to shop around for cheaper rates.

I stayed here before a trip up Mt Kinabalu. It was really nice and had a good view of the water. I stayed in another hotel later that was closer to the center of things, but preferred Gaya Centre for quality. Their buffet breakfast was overpriced, however, for what they offered. Not many Western things to eat.

The 'penthouse' suites on the top floor are recently renovated and spick and span. very comfortable. Breakfast selection was a bit of a let down, but all in all, we had a good time and would come back again
Travel tip:
avoid TAR islands on the weekend as they're usually mobbed.

great location but rather dingy room

We had a deluxe on the 10th floor: the floor and the room could do with renovating - it appears that the management are taking this floor by floor, so it's only a matter of time. Room's bathroom was rather 'tired'. But the Gaya is a good hotel - pleasant and efficient staff.

Excellent location, good service
the breakfast is wonderful

The room was bright and comfortable. However, the drainage is not working very well. If too much water comes down from faucet, it will not go away quickly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
the seashore is just within 1 minute walk. Great view.

Basic design hotel, but was very pleasant. Room was not spacious, but was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was spacious enough and water was vigor.
Great location as many shops and restaurants were within walking distance.
