Gaya Centre Hotel is around a 15 minutes taxi ride from the KK International Airport and a 10 minute walk to the jetty. Hence, the location is ideal for those going for a dive in the area. It is also right next to the shopping mall and across from the food street for those who are just in KK to take a short break. The service staff is helpful and check-in/check-out was fast and smooth. Room service was also adequate. The rooms were a tad dark and there wasn't a view in my 2nd floor room to speak of - for those who mind, you might want to request for a sea view in advance. It will also be good if wifi was more readily available - internet in the rooms is only available via LAN and wifi can only be received in common areas. Overall, I had a pleasant enough stay!

The hotel is lack of flexibility. Even 30min early check in also not allow. No wifi even in the lobby. The broadband cable was not provide as mention when booking.

The hotel delivers what it claims to be: a good base to explore Kota Kinabalu and surroundings. The ferry station is in walking distance, and next there are 20 travel agents next to the hotel to arrange your trips. Room was clean, service was good and efficient, we had a very smooth stay. Breakfast was good, included Malay, Chinese and Western food. We didn't try the restaurant, because you have so many other possibilities nearby.
