The island of Borneo is a colorful mix of nature and indegenous cultures and is just below the typhoon belt. The Kinabalu National Park, a World Heritage Site is 90 kilometers from the hotel, is popular with visitors with many opting to climb Mount Kinabalu. The hotel is part of the 1Borneo hyper mall, set to become the largest lifestyle shopping mall in the area. All the rooms at the Grand Borneo come with flat screen TV's and Internet access, and the hotel includes rooftop meeting and boardrooms. There are several malls, as well as a street market and handicraft market near this hotel. With shopping, dining and entertainment all under one roof, the Grand Borneo Hotel is an excellent choice.

Nice hotel.. nice place.. Hotel is IN the MALL :)

I think they just changed ownership so customer service was really bad. We had difficult time talking to them about the change of rooms and have to wait 2 hours for the extra bed.

generally it's ok.. just don't make any changes to your reservations (otherwise, they get confused)

Shopping Tip : it's in the MALL :)

Location, clean and tidiness, nice room

the pool. the water is very cold and water is not very clear, can hardly see the base

We had a pleasant surprise. We actually booked under Mercure hotel and had to spend a little time searching for the place as we learnt that Mercure was renamed Grand Borneo 3 mths ago! We booked 2 rooms. One room comes with a bathroom with a glass partition, separating the room from the bathroom, very new unique design. THe lobby is nice and the staffs are friendly and efficient. To have your room tidied, will need to hang the "make up " room signage We had a pleasant stay at Grand Borneo. There is a big shopping mall directly linked to the hotel.

-its location right next to the newest and huge mall got make its convenient for us to shop for anything. -food outlet is always there - they even have free shuttle service to the KK city even till late evening! -the rooms are great and staff are friendly. always on hand to assist. - thank God for banks are just around the corner if your cash runs out

-the pool area was lack of nice view. -the location is bit further out of the city, so transportation are always in need

it was out first time travelling together with our buddies from office and our spontaneous plan to book flights and get the accommodation from Agoda was helping us a lot. The hotel being located at the new Mall assured us that this will be good choice and the price offered by Agoda was irresistible especially for quick bookings. We will definitely choose Agoda services for our next vacation plans!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : - you can use the free shuttle to get to the city - request for the hotel to arrange for some transportation with the locals for flexible/negotiable price - do go for the island hopping & always deal for great bargain with the boat operators (Jesselton port).check each counter for the rates. - do try the open air market to sample some local dishes! - visit the Filipino market for souvenirs
