Receptionists could speak fluent Eng and were helpful (the plumpish young chinese man especially), the view from our sea view room was wonderful, the food at Tanjung Ria was delicious

For the price paid, the room is shabby and beds cannot compare to a China local 5 star hotel. I made a booking for 3 guests and they gave me a room with only 2 beds and they took some time to come with the extra bed and towel. Even then they did not give an extra mug (for brushing teeth) or a bathroom or sarong.

I would pay a bit more and try Le Meridien the next time which is nearer the newer shopping center Warisan Square and from which a shuttle runs from 1 Borneo (to and fro). Hyatt is a disappointment for the price paid, better wait for the renovation to be completed before staying there as the rooms and carpets and beds and deco are really old, shabby and dated. The Oxtail Stew at the Tanjung Ria cafe is supposed to be a must try according to Wikipedia and the Delicatessen selling bread offers 50% off the cakes and 30% off bread items after 7pm. Must go early as the cakes get sold out real fast. The TV in the room is some CRT TV pulled out of a rather old cupboard. Quite a disappointment.

Hotel Feature Tip : The Oxtail Stew at the Tanjung Ria cafe is supposed to be a must try according to Wikipedia and the Delicatessen selling bread offers 50% off the cakes and 30% off bread items after 7pm.

Very centeral position, Nice sea views.

Have to pay for Wi-fi. TV old fasioned & not many channels. Difficult for parking.

Having stayed in quite a few different hotels in Kota Kinabalu from 2 to 5 star we thought we would give Hyatt a try this time, Overall we were not disappointed although a few things needs updating like the TV which was quite old and not much to choose from program wise, As i have a business back home i needed access to the internet for checking my emails when i called reception to find out about getting free Wi-fi i was told it was charged my the min or £12 a day which i thought was a bit mean as most hotels in K,Kinabalu, give free wi-fi. We used the restaurant a few times the service was very good and the food well presented. We took our breakfast in our room which was delivered very quickly on a table beautifully presented with a flower vase and a excellent selection. The young man who brought us our breakfast was very friendly and efficient. As for the other staff working at the Hyatt i could not fault them they were wonderful nothing was to much trouble. its not a cheap hotel to stay at and you could probably find an equivalent hotel with free internet for around the same price but overall it was the staff that made it so pleasurable for us.

Restaurant Tip : Brass Monkey in Kota Kinabalu very good value and good food.

Location was brilliant for shopping and restaurants.

Hotel is being renovated at the moment - it's not obvious but when finished the hotel will be beautiful and will lose the dated look.

Location is fantastic - just across the road from the central market - with great views of sea and all harbour activity. We had sea view room with balcony which was wonderful. Shennanigans Bar was also a highlight with great band 'Brown Inc' in residence until january 2010. They're from Phillipines and we enjoyed several shows. We also enjoyed the Regency Club with drinks and finger food from 5pm to 7pm each night. Staff at this hotel were lovely - always helpful and having a late check-out til 2pm ensured we will return. The breakfast buffet was fine but we didn't try any of the restaurants as we preferred to roam the local ones instead.

Nightlife Tip : Shennanigans Bar (before 9pm for happy hour) - then the band after 9pm.

city centre. next to shopping centres close to sea front

Looks old could use some interior remodeling.

One night stay at Hyatt was very relaxing and rejuvenating experiece as we are always busy and moving about. After cheking in we just walked out to the shopping complexes to look around and get something to eat. Nice food and cheap. The bed looked so comfortable we slept from 8pm till 9am next day. That was one of the best sleep in years. Woke up, went for breakfast nearby and hairwash and for our appoinment. It was so convinient.

Nice rooms and nice lobby area

perhaps the bathroom could be improved and the rooms be provided with dvd players and more channels on astro.

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff were very welcoming and hospitable. The room was good wexcept that i feel the bathroom could have a shower area and better ad more channels on the tv.

The location of the hotel is convenience & the room over looking the sea is splendid especially during the sunset. People is friendly.

Unfortunately renovation work is on going presently with noise an irritation. The bell man is not always there when need arises.

There are food otlets, shopping centre & night entertainments nearby that make the area popular for strolling at night. The atmosphere in the lobby is comfortable & food in the coffee is also nice to taste. The guest room is acceptable with all the basis utilities being provided. Security in the hotel is being supported by CCTV being installed in the critical areas such as lift & corridor leading to guest rooms. Privacy is seen to be achieved. In general, the stay in the hotel is satisfactory.

Good location in city center. Clean and serene environment. Compact gym with adequate facilities

Reading materials not provided , newspaper delivery to room not consistent . Lower floors can be noisy from nearby roads' traffic.

I like the location - smack in the city center ,close to the shopping centers, convenient eating places within reach and walking distance to the Sunday Bazaar . Even the morning market and local products stalls are just a short walk across the road . A late night hunger can be satisfied by nearby food outlets which open late . A good place to stay in to explore the sights around Kota Kinabalu city .Staying at one of the sea-facing rooms offer a fantastic view of the changing colour of the sea as the sun shifts to the horizon .

Various restaurants, such as Chinese, Western and Japanse. And nice spa in this hotel.

Fitness room is good, but more space is better if possible.

We went to climb Mt. Kinabalu and stayed this hotel. We went to spa after climbing, it was great! Well trained staff and cozy room. If it's possible, the sea view room would be nicer. Many shops and shopping centres around this hotel.
