Great service from check-in to responsive and friendly staff. Great setting and amenities The first room that we were given was in bad shape We arrived in the late afternoon and were met by a friendly, efficient hostess who took care of booking us in while we had a welcome drink in the lounge.
We were given our room key and proceeded to our "Garden Room"
What a dissapointment. The carpet was badly stained and the bedcover was threadbare. The room just looked tired.
On complaining about the state of the room we were moved to a ocean facing room and it was difficult to imagine we were in the same hotel.
This room was clean, sumptuous and what I had expected from a resort of this stature.
Restaurant Tip : The Ocean Resturant is a great experience if you enjoy sea-food

Service, service, service! location and food We have been visiting this hotel for the third time and still was very impressed by the stuff. It is the best service we've seen in Malaysia. Excellent location, free shuffle service, amount of pools and restaurants. Excellent islands near the hotel. Great breakfasts. We like it a lot! Thank you Magellan Sutera! And by the way - golf course is awsome!
Restaurant Tip : visit Al-Fresco at waterfront, it is 10 mins from the hotel. Great grilled salmon and sea-bus

Pools, beach, endless options for restaurants, bars. So much to do! The place is huge, so you arent right on top of everyone else. Markets, shops and everything outside of the hotel you need to get a taxi/shuttle to We had a great stay. There were 8 of us in total, and we dined at many restaurants and bars. There are so many watersports, activities, shopping and other activities near by. You need atleast a week to enjoy it all and to ensure you spend a couple of days doing nothing by the pool!
It may be more expensive but it is value for money with this 5 star hotel. Not much to fault!
It was paradise for us and we will be back for sure.
Restaurant Tip : Be sure to go to the ex pat yacht club next door to have dinner and drinks.. The food was so good and not too expensive at all!

very very small beach. and not clear If you only stay at hotel. It is a good choice. They have many restaurant and kid pool/ slide pool. They have private beach but very small. I think we can not swim . We like the place but now is seem like old. The room is quite big. I love the breakfast buffet. They have a good suttle bus service to centre point.

Nice View, Nice Location, Nice Breakfast, Nice Swimming Pool Need better maintanence, Room not clean enough, a bit dark in the bathroom A very big resort with a great location which close to down town. Have a great choice for the breakfast. Very nice swimming pool with Happy Hour every evening.Maintanence is not good enough, furniture and TV are a bit old-style. My room haven't got a remote control and a hair dryer.

I had been running on July 2nd 2009, I run from Pacific thru Marina and turn back at Magellan end beach side, I run four times vv,I was very enjoy those nuances, I will be back soon. There is no seafood resto at or near the hotel, contraraly with sea environment. Thanks for greeting so nice, nice lobby, simply check in, excellen food , breakfast or dinner. I enjoyed the room, clean and artistics. For the meeting I love the shuttle bus anytime. And the last it is near to nice airport and near to the medium of city, I love the tour, culture, city, or sea
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There is Island so beautiful, Yachts anchored , pools line up from Pacific to Magellan , and jogging track good.

Friendly service, the service staffs are always smiling and giving convenience to our stay. Complimentary transfers to and for to KK airport are giving very good feeling to my family. My kids like the swimming pool very much especially the mini-waterfall at the pool. Breakfast is very impressive, chicken curry for roti chanai is very tasty. The hotel looks old, Lift is very slow even to 5th floor. air-con in the room not cool enough. We have a good stay in Magellan Sutera Hotel. My family was enjoying a good rest and relax holidays over there for 3 days and my kids are very impressed with the good services provided from housekeeping, restaurant to concierge. The hotel lobby is magnificent and displaying the unique style of the borneo. In fact, the hotel services are very comprehensive and self sufficient which we feel we can have a nice holiday even staying within the hotel, enjoying the seaview at the beside the swimming pool.
Restaurant Tip : Nice seaview at the restaurant beside the Philipino market. The seafood centre is very impressive, the seafood are alive, very fresh!

Good hospitality and services among hostess, waiters, potters and F&B team. Room with a good view, good food from room service. Good golf course-good maintainence. When we arrive at the hotel me and my wife were greeted by a friendly hostess. She arranged a room for us and got us a reservation for a game of golf confirmed at the Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club. The Checking in procedure was fast and we don't have to wait for too long.
In the evening we went for massage and by the time we finished we were looking for a restaurant. We don't feel like having a buffet dinner so we went for room service instead.
We ordered their curry fish and me and my wife enjoyed very much.
Next morning we tee off at 630am and I find the golf course is more well maintain than the one at Nexus. The staffs at the golf course were friendly and helpful too. My wife left one of her clubs at the previous hole and the staffs were helpful enough to bring it back to us. We also had our pictures taken during the game and it was given to us at the end of the game as a memorable time at the golf course.
The stay was enjoyable and pleasurable overall and we'll definitely come back again as 1 night stay was never enough.

The lobby is amazing, it's a huge hotel with a fantastic pool. Staff are lovely. Options for eating, and entertaining yourself are fantastic. highly recommend. The pool bar wasn't open, so that would have been a huge plus, but the poolside service was still good. Stayed here for three nights and didn't realise there wasn't much to do in Kota Kinabalu. Spent most of the time at the resort and loved it. The room was fantastic, bed was huge and pillows beautifully soft. Concierge and staff were very helpful and the shuttle bus was very convenient and easy to organise.
The three tour organisers who are stationed in the massive lobby are very helpful although sometimes hard to find when they are not attending their desk. I dont think they are attached to the hotel necessarily.
The food (especially breakfast) was great, beautifully presented, fresh and tasty.
I'd recommend this resort for families, romantic couples, older tourists and business guests.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Wildlife park is a short drive away and was a great morning tour (9am, back by 1pm). Make sure you are there for the 11.15am show with orangutan, cockatoos, eagles, snakes, etc etc.

Great location with lovel sea view, the building are very interesting, tipical Southasia holiday hotel, love it! The service is great! Some facilities are aged though, quite full hotel which was a bit noisy somehow. Comparing to those holiday hotel in Hainan China, this one is more like the old vision. We love this hotel, and the seaview is fantastic, especially for the sunset. The service is great. Besides, we love the construction style. Comparing to the location consumption level, it's quite expensive though.

Swimming pools, free shuttle bus service, convenient location. Unreasonable charges on swimming pool stuff. Kids Club. All three swimming pools are nice. My kids loved the one with slides so much! The free shuttle bus is really a value-added service because the taxi fare in KK is quite expensive (especially for short journeys). One thing I don't like about this hotel is their unreasonable charges on swimming pool stuff, e.g. $US3 for renting a beach ball for an hour, US$12 for buying a kid's floating ring. Moreover, the kids club at Magellan Wing with free access got little facilities and activities. The one at Marina Club is better but is chargeable and rather crowded with their local members during weekends.

staff are nice, acceptable distance to city center, number of swimming pools. gym room facilities are outdated. I stayed at the Magellen Resort-Sutera Harbour Resort for 3 nights in Dec 2008. I was surprised by the choice of food for breakfast at “Five Sails”. There are different choices besides Western food, e.g. Korean and Indian. The food quality is acceptable. The swimming pools and poolside facilities are well maintained. Although the resort is very big, it is convenient to walk from one side to another (within 10 min walk)

It has everything you need--sports/gym facilities; huge swimming pools; sauna/spa; several first class restaurants; the buffet breakfast is superb; the view is amazing; staff are very helpful Emergency lights should also be installed in every room. On arrival at the resort, there was a brown out and although there were emergency lights on the hallways, there was none inside the room. So we were sitting in the dark and cant do anything until the power came back on again. This is the best resort we have been to. It provides a very relaxing environmnet, one that vacationeers really need. They have everything under one roof so there is no need to go anywhere else. There is a free resort shuttle that brings guests to the city for shopping and it runs every hour and one can hop on and hop off at its very conveniently assigned stops. The buffet breakfast is more than just breakfast, it is a full lunch too. We went in December and the weather is just very pleasant. We really had a wonderful time and we will go back again and will tell others to visit this resort.
Shopping Tip : The price of goods at the mall are the same as their outdoor Sunday market or their Handicraft market. So just shop at the malls where there is airconditioning.

Hotel room is spacious. Toilet is big. Swimming pool is clean and not crowded. Free shuttle bus service to the city centre almost every hourly. It's the first time we visited Kota Kinabalu and our stay at Magellan Sutera Resort certainly made our visit there all the more enjoyable. The first time we entered our hotel room, we were surprised to find that it's very big and spacious. The toilet is clean and comes with a separate shower area and bath tub that opens out to see the room. Even though we booked a Garden Deluxe Room, our room is still able to see the sea and the beautiful sunset. That was definitely a plus point. The breakfast has a good variety. The best part was the swimming pool. It's big and not crowded. My 2 yr old son thoroughly enjoyed himself at the swimming pool. We also ordered our lunch at the pool and it was delicious. If you don't mind the cost, you must try the tableside BBQ at the Al Fresco Restaurant. For RM110, they provide a set of good starters, various types of meat barbequed for you on the spot beside your table by the restaurant staff, and a lovely desert to end off the meal, all the while admiring the romantic sunset.
Restaurant Tip : For seafood, try the Port View Seafood Restaurant at the city centre behind Centrepoint.
