Great Hotel but bad services & attitudes of staff

The first time we stayed at this hotel (9/12/2011 - 12/12/2011), we were very satisfied with the hotel and services of the hotel staff which is why we booked on this hotel for our 2nd trip (27/1/2012-30/1/2012).
The 2nd stay was an extremely disappointing. We reached the airport at 4.30pm. Everything was alright until we were given Room 810. THE ROOM WAS BEING OCCUPIED BY OTHER HOTEL GUESTS.
We went down to the reception and we were changed to Room 709. The room was empty, however, we had requested a NON-SMOKING room. We had no choice but to go to the reception again.
Guest(s): We requested for a Non-Smoking room.
Staff: Non-Smoking is not available at the moment.
Guest(s): Please do something about it. If you do not have a non-smoking room, then be responsible. Upon confirmation of booking, we had called the hotel and confirmed with our booking once more.
Staff: But you booked through Agoda.
Guest(s): Does it matter if we booked through Agoda? Somemore, we had called your hotel to confirm everything.
Staff: Can you please wait for half an hour? The Housekeeper(s) has to clean up the room.
Guest(s) : We were late to check in. Standard check in time is 2pm/3pm. Why is the room not ready?
Staff : Because the hotel guest(s) checked out late.
Guest(s) : We are not going to wait any longer. It's almost 5pm.

We were very irritated with the services. Not even an Apology from them until we were so angry and frustrated.
The day when we checked out, we carelessly left our PSP charger behind together with the socket attached to it.By the time we discovered the carelessness was already 10.59pm.
We rang the hotel. They informed us that the housekeeping dept. closed at 11pm and open at 6/7am and promised will check it for us the next morning and if there is, it will be at the "Lost and Found" counter.

I rang the hotel at 10am the next day. Unfortunately, the Staff name Mr. Mark has not informed about my call to the hotel. I talked to another staff Ms. Ann, and she managed to check it for us and had informed that we had someone to collect it for us at around 5-6pm of which she said she will inform the counter which we specifically informed her that the socket attached to the Charger is unique and unlike the other common shape. That was glad. We were so glad with her efficiency.
However, when the time comes, our someone could not get our charger without several phone calls from us. To get the charger from them takes about half a hour. Apparently, Ms. Ann had not informed the others about it.
When we managed to the charger back the next day without the socket.
We were so deeply disappointed with the lack of efficiency of the staff, their attitudes and dishonesty.
If we had not encounter the 2nd experience, we would said "one of the best hotel".
We hope the management will probe into this matter seriously.

stayed 3 nights for 2 rooms during chinese new year, received "ang pow" from the hotel management during my 1st night stay which is a huge surprise !
pros : rooms have lots of space to move about, comes with fans (good choice for ppl who prefer fans than air-cond), great breakfast with different choices everyday (save hasle to look for breakfast if u r not familiar with KK), friendly and polite staff, taxis available outside and fares are listed at the reception counter so no worries of getting "slaughtered"
con : walls is a bit thin, able to hear what ur neighbour said if they tends to speak loudly ! the room i'm in smelled of cigarettes, not that appealing to non-smokers like me

we stayed here 1 night to climb mt kinabalu the next day, had an early morning pick up so requested for the complimentary breakfast to be delivered to the room. good service but the rooms were a little old and needs updating. location was not too far to center but had to take taxi.

It is located at the end of the downtown. Fortunately, downtown is within a walking distance. Taxi is quite expensive. Breakfast is not good enough. The room was comfortable, but the corridor smelled of bad odour. They charged for the internet use in the room. the internet on the ground floor was complimentary. If you want to walk, it would be all right. However, if you want to stay closer to the downtown and markets, you should try the others.

The hotel is clean. Staff are very courteous and helpful. Most can converse reasonably well in English.
The room is very spacious, clean well equipped. Bathroom and toilet very clean and toiletries are provided. Room are very well lite. Bed reasonable size. The bed is firm and comfortable.
The cafe gives guest 25% discount for eating in the cafe. But the breakfast quality and spread is considered poor for four star hotel.
Free wireless provided in each room which is very convenience for business people.

Friendly and efficient front desk staff. Porters are deficient. The lounge is very spacious. Three lifts is more than adequate and waiting time for lift is kept to a minimal.
The room is very clean and well kept. Facilities in the rooms are excellent. Bathroom is spacious with all the necessary toiletries and towels provided. Towels are clean and in good condition. need some minor repair to the tap.
The bed is quite big. It is firm and comfortable. free wireless provided in the room which is very convenience for business travelers to keep in touch with their office.
Guest eating in the restaurant is give 25% discount. This is attractive to the guest to entertain clients. Breakfast provided is generally poor for this standard of hotel. lacks quality and spread.
