Too many kids!
Nice beach bar, big tables/couches on the beach, 5min taxi to T2 at the KK airport

Our check-in process took more than 30min and the staff was not very helpful. When we ordered dinner on the beach, we waited another 30min for the champagne to arrive, they forgot our order for water, and the food was only lukewarm. We are a couple with no kids, and there were kids EVERYWHERE. Maybe it's the area of KK that attracts families(?), because even the other Shangri-la has a "kid-zone". Service in general was poor, the room was standard (small), the bathroom made no sense (why have a shower door that pushes the bath-mat away and bangs into the bathroom door?) Strikes me that the hotel needs a full reno.

This is a lovely hotel, usual Shangri La standard. We stayed in a Horizon Club room, with fantastic views across the pool and beach. Food in the lounge was great, as was the service - very friendly but not overly familiar.
The only downside is that despite one area of the pool being designated as Adults only, on the Sunday morning there were lots of kids in there, and none of the pool attendants seemed to worry. We were there during a quiet period, but during peak times this would make the pool area very busy indeed. Otherwise, a great hotel & only 10 mins from the airport.
