Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Pleasant older hotel
Old-fashioned comfort, great Malaysian breakfast
9.3
We came into Kota Kinabalu late at night and left early the next day to climb Mount Kinabalu, so our stay was very brief and mostly for sleeping. The room was large and comfortable, with some signs of age--something like staying with an elegant but now-penurious aunt. For instance, the door is a none-too-well-fitting wooden door with an old-fashioned key, and there are some signs of moisture in the bathroom. But everything was clean, plush, and comfortable, and there were nice touches like sarongs as well as robes hanging in the closet and a flat-screen TV (don't know what the reception/channels were like, though, given our late-night time in the room). The next morning we had breakfast in the Mountbatten Lounge and enjoyed an excellent nasi lemak for only 6 ringgit while looking out at a busy street market that operates on Sundays. Very enjoyable.

Ideal for a city stay
centrally located, good-sized room, helpful staff
7.7
We would definitely return to The Jesselton if we go back to KK. Easily accessible from the airport - about 20 min. - and within walking distance of virtually anywhere a casual visitor to KK would want to go. The free wi-fi is a huge plus. The air-con works great. If breakfast isn't included in the room rate, there's a cheap cafeteria right across the street and an American burger place a couple of blocks down on the same side of the street. The open-air seafood eating center is recommended.

The room is good.Small but good. The view i see is just the busy street. No parking or what so ever,so incase you are driving to kk or renting a car,you have to leave your car key with the bell boy(and if it when missing,i wouldn tknow how to deal with it)
next to it is the famous local eating place-must try!

Character, location, efficient staff

Overall a good stay. Great location near restaurants and shops of Gaya street. Only negative is that the bed was a little soft and springy for our liking.

Good value for money. Satisfactory for staying centrally. Friendly staff. Very dated and tired looking.

It is at the city center. That means it is very convenient to go shopping and dining. My room is facing the street but is is not noisy at all in the midnight. I did not book breakfast. There are many cheap restaurants and convenient stores around. Classic exterior with modern interior.
