quiet location
staff is helpful
no toiletries in the room.
Need to be requested.
I appreciate a lady staff at the reception who helped me call the airport taxi company on a "dispute" I had with them. Though the receipt does not have the telephone number, she researched and spoke to the staff. Nothing resolved, but I appreciate her gesture

Good location. Friendly staff.
The frequency of the shuttle bus is not enough.
The staff is quite friendly and helpful and efficient. The location of the hotel is quiet yet within walkable distance to the central of the town. The provision of free shuttle bus is good but not enough. The food of the breakfast is not in great variety but is still OK. Overall this hotel is worthy to recommend. I will come back again next time I come to KK.
Restaurant Tip : The evening food stalls nearby have cheap & delicious seafood at night.

Clean and cheap. Lobby is beautiful.
Little bit far away from the Waterfront. Room is small.
Worth to live with this price.

Good clean functional room, spacious
Extremely poor restaurant, BAD breakfast and useless "Welcome Drink" vouchers (gets you tea or coffee)
Not value for money as I have stayed in better hotels for the price I paid for the room.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Car Hire in Kota Kinabalu works out much cheaper than taking a "Guided" tour. Get a good map from the Hotel/Airport and it will be a much more enjoyable experience.

A new hotel with clean and comfortable rooms and friendly, professional staff. The breakfast was good and the location near the temples served our needs.
Restaurant Tip : Try Red Piano restaurant in the town center and its signature pasta. Tuktuk ride to town costs 3$.

The hotel was under renovation so the gym and pool were closed and there was not much to do in the hotel. However, once the renovation process is finished, The Palace will be a really nice place to stay. The newly renovated rooms were clean and spacious and nicely decorated and the staff was friendly.
Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel provides a free van transportation to the town center and back three times a day.

Cheap rooms.
Friendly Staffs.
Better English speaking staffs.
Limited instruction on complimentary meals.
Hotel in-store services.
There's no decoration, beautiful lights nor beautiful sights. But what I am truly satisfied is the room rate that fits for a budget traveler. All the basics ~ small fridge, tv, heater, bed, table, chair, air-conditioning.... all in good condition. Despite the current renovation, the staff treated me with a great smile and the food tasted ok.

As at January 2009, the rooms are exceptionally well redecorated. Wood floor and modern furniture replace the tired, standard issue Malaysian hotel carpet and furnishings.
Not really any nearer to airport than most other hotels in town but awkward to walk into town from this hotel.
If booked via Agoda, they will not let you sign for meals, etc.
It is difficult to get a (prepaid) breakfast if checking out for the early morning flights.
They also charge a surcharge for getting you a taxi.
A good hotel in the wrong place. Not really good for the airport and not really good for the town either.
Restaurant is somewhat bleak and what you get may not be what you ordered.
BUT the room was great.
Hotel Feature Tip : You may have to pay a surcharge if you ask the hotel to get you a taxi.

The room was nice and clean, new furniture, nice bed. The personal was gentle and friendly. The hotel is under renovation.
The breakfast was the worst, and we have travelled a lot. Not fresh, for example the bread was mould, and very little for us european to choose. Bad quality tea and coffe. When we asked for transportation with the hotel-car to the airport, they couln´t fix it.
When we arrived to the Palace Hotel and checked in, the friendly staff welcomed us in a recently renovated lobby. It was modern and stylish. The room was lokated at the fifth floor whith the window to the west so we had a beautiful sunset-view over the town in the evening. The room was modern with a comfortable bed and light colors and the bathroom was modern with a big mirror and good lights. A modern flatscreen-TV, a refrigerator, a waterboiler, free tea and coffee - we couln´t ask for moore!
The hotel is situated in a mountain slope so the view is splendid. To get to the city center we walked for about 15 to 20 minutes. Just below the hotel there was a big shoppingcenter with many stores and lokal food to eat. We can recommend the hotel to couples, solo travelers and familys with older children.
Shopping Tip : The hotel is situated near a shoppingcenter where you can eat cheap lokal food

Sound insulation can be improved;
The sound of elavator is noisy, can be changed to flashing lights instead of beeping all the time;
More transportation to the city/airport/ferry terminal can be arranged.
I was really impressed by the hotel lobby, and the bell guy was very nice.
The hotel was renovating during my stay, and the construction was too noisy even at 10pm. Reception desk agreed to move me to another room but unfortunately they didn't get back to me.
It was very unusual to see hotel staff have breakfast at the same time in the same restaurant with all other hotel guests.
I requested a morning call service at 7:45am, and no one called... Lucky that I didn't miss my flight!!

clean, comfotable, close to the airport
I wasn't expecting much after reading many reviews of this hotel. I needed a hotel that was fairly close to the airport for an early flight the next morning and decided I could withstand the uncleanliness for a night.
When i got there I thought for sure I was at the wrong hotel. Everything was sparkling clean and shiny. The decor was a bit strange something like Retro Star Trek, but like i say ... sparkly. When i was shown my room ...i was again astonished ... clean, clean, clean. It is obvious they have taken great efforts in improving conditions, which leads me to my only complaint. Construction. I complained about the noise and they immediatly moved me to a quiet room. So my one complaint was fixed almost instantly. This is a good hotel.
Travel tip : Great Japanese restaurant in Mall across the street.

shuttle bus, good position, recently made repair, good staff.
The fresh, recently made repair, room it is well equipped, good shower, a toilet, presence of the safe and a hair drier in a room. Maintenance of cleanliness and the order in a room during all stay in hotel. A fine view from a window and very convenient position, the good careful and obliging personnel, a normal and various meal, an opportunity of the fast order of any tour, granting of free-of-charge transport up to any place in the city, a near location of the big shops, many cafes and restaurants of the various cuisine, ten - fifteen minutes of driving up to quay and two big central shops. we liked our station of this hotel and hope we'll stay there next visit.

One other small thing: the sign on the Berjaya Palace Hotel only has "Palace Hotel." I thought maybe the taxi driver took us to the wrong place at first.

I looked in vain in the room for hotel information, i.e. details of room service and restauarant timings. Such information would be helpful. I will stay there again.
