picturesque place
nice architecture, huge rooms & fun adventure
7
i was apprehensive abt the unfavourable reviews read but decided to go ahead anyway because i was drawn to the pretty pictures and had no regrets.
a few things i differ fr the other reviewers : breakfast was sufficient for the room rate paid. i stayed in a single bedroom suite which was huge and clean, despite me checking in during the sch holidays on a crowded, full-occupancy weekend. living area looked spartan because it was surprisingly spacious than lacking in the basic furniture. my housekeepers at fuschsia block were friendly and excellent in their work. while many complain of hotel's datedness, i feel it has an old world charm reflective of the hotel's heritage.
i enjoyed the adventure park where gd safety procedures are observed n it rugged and fun. horse riding is pricey although u get pretty thorough training in the paddocks before moving out. the whole place is very pretty, esp at night when the townsquare is lit up.
what i agree with other reviewers::
the food is really pricey and not that nice. i wl never try the chinese food restaurant which is the worst! le poulet and la flamme are still decent altho the waiters look way overworked on weekends. it is puzzling the bill amts are different when i requested to pay by visa, my visa bill being lower in total price despite similar items reflected. i wl suggest going to the golf club for cheaper food with a better variety.
i wl go again for the scenery and if the room rates remain reasonable.

The stay was quite pleasant
Pleasant and responsive staff, clean room and with windows that can be opened to take in fresh air

It was a pleasant stay there. My only complain about my room is the dressing table which is too small and it can barely fit a laptop computer on it, making working in the hotel room rather uncomfortable. It also does not have a mirror on top of the dressing table. The Superior Twin room has only the basic amenities. However, I quite like the provision of a ceiling fan, an air-conditioning unit and open windows. Although a hill resort, it can be quite hot on a sunny day as it is situated only 2,700 feet above sea level in the mountains. Therefore, the need of an air-conditioning unit is quite essential especially if we are staying in the hotel during the day. The buffet breakfast does not serve a large variety of dishes, just the usual ones we expect to find in any mid-class hotels in Malaysia. The hotel staff is quite attentive to our needs and service is relatively fast. The concept of mimicking the small village of Colmar in France is quite unique in Malaysia and since it is out of bound to vehicles, it is safe for families with small children to roam around freely. The provision of shuttle "bus" to other attractions in the vicinity is commendable but the small vehicles and the one-hour interval especially during weekends and holidays makes it quite a hassle especially those that bring a large family or groups of friends to visit these attractions. So, they may have to end up going in their own vehicles instead of relying on the shuttle bus service. Overall, it is not a bad place for families and friends who choose to find a relatively quiet place with cool fresh air to go for a quick get-away from the hussle and bussle of hectic city life. There is something for everyone from parents, adolescents to small kids but it may not be so suitable for the elderly who have difficulties in moving about because the hill resort and its attractions require quite a fair bit of legwork.

Great location but not much to do around
Nice scenery and various activities but gets boring quickly

I went over on a weekend for a short stay. The room is nice but probably not for those who expect a very luxurious stay. Room is clean and comes with a mini fridge and mineral water. Toilet is ok but the bath tub seems to have some problems with water flow. The water coming out of the shower head was a bit cloudy as well but still acceptable. There's quite a number of restaurants downstairs that open until late so finding food isn't a problem. As a last resort, there's always room service!
