The Room ( superior)- adequate room size, huge and comfortable bed, strong water We stayed in this hotel for a night.We chose this hotel as it has mostly positive reviews. We found the hotel reception staff were friendly, attentive, and accomodating. We didn't have problem with check-in and check-out. The superior room we stayed in was okay, however, the toilet was old and run down, and definitely needs urgent repair or renovation. The toilet flush was broken and we had to remove the lid and push the lever down to make the water stop. The toilet seat and floor have stains The bath tub has no drain plug so it can't be used for bubble bath though they provided a bath gel. For a four star hotel, I was expecting an LCD tv, as we had stayed in a 3 star with LCD tv, but this one has an old model tv, so that's disappointing. This is for a superior room so we don't know what to expect with other types of room. We won't be staying in this hotel again. And if ever you decide to stay here don't book a superior room.
Shopping Tip : It's located in the prime shopping district.

Friendly reception staff
Excellent breakfast
Clean and tidy rooms Travelling with 3 friends we chose the Federal Hotel based on recommendations from friends who had stayed their before.
The location was great and the rooms clean and tidy.
On arrival the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Breakfast, included in the tariff, was very good and catered for European and Asian guests.
The surprise of the hotel was the wonderful swimming pool and surrouding gardens - unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy this facility but would ensure time to do so on a return visit.

It is situated in a great place in the city .
Great for shopping.
Easy for transport.
Excellant breakfasts. We traveled with two other couples and no one had a bad word for the Federal Hotel.The staff were polite and very efficient at their required duties.The rooms were bigger than we expected and very comfortable.Breakfasts are excellent with a great choice of foods.I recommend the Federal.
Hotel Feature Tip : The Irish Pub on the ground floor was good with happy hour from 3PM to 8PM.

Great location. Reasonable price. Retaurants were excellent with reasonable prices.
Friendly, helpful staff. Room maintenance could be better. A number of minor items were not functional. We found the Federal an excellent hotel with most ammenities on site. The location would have too be one of the best in KL, with shops, rail and restaraunts within walking distance.
The views from the revolving restaraunt are spectacular and the food is excellent quality.
Service throughout the hotel is great with friendly staff eager to assist you.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Buy a 'stored value' card for the monorail.
Use the 'hop on - hop off' bus.

Facilities: Pool, Location Dated furniture, crack line in sink, super cold airconditioning, which cannot be turned off, as well as the corridor temperature, freezing cold! Federal Hotel is located in a convenient point within the Bukit Bintang district. Armed with numerous staff, they are deemed as a 4 star hotel. But their superior room is so dated that they badly need a refurbishment! There's a large crack line in the sink and stain in the toilet bowl, and the aircon is very cold which can't be turned off as a section of it is centralised aircon system and the maintenance guy had to use a cardboard to cover the aircon duct to alleviate the situation. Walking along the corridor to my 8th floor room seems like a walk in Winter, it's just so cold! Maintenance and housekeeping staff were wonderful while the front desk/reception staff were a kind of aloof, no smiles at all.
Hotel Feature Tip : I will rather choose Hotel Capitol, their sister property if they don't upgrade their rooms!

slow service in the housekeeping while requesting some aids the federal hotel is most at the most convenient location in KL, malasia. which close to the shopping center and food street and you can really enjoy the multiple choices there.

Very convenience for shopping. Just few step away from shopping centre. Breakfast no problem as there are so many outlet open for early breakfast Hotel a bit ageing. Sound of Lift very disturbing as the lifts are located just next to the guess rooms. Federal Hotel is a very good hotel for budget travellers especially thos who loves to shop around for electronic gadgets, e.g. computers, cameras and others as this hotel is situated just within walking distance from Plaza Low Yat where hundreds of outlets selling such items are located. For food lovers e.g. Durian, seafoods, fried kuetiaw, etc, there are open stall available everynites offering variety of foods at very reasonable prices: I will continue to stay at Federal during my next travel because the rates are reasonable, friendly staff and very convenience for shopping and makan

Excellent position with all shopping centres and food areas close by. Guisness Pub downstairs has free wireless internet. Reception staff very nice and attentive.This comment applies to all the other staff as well. Rooms are a bit shabby. Toilet system poor requiring numerous flushes Hotel very convienant but has certainly become a bit run down over the years. However for a short term stay its perfectly suitable for the cost and represents good value for money.
Shopping Tip : Hotel is only five minutes (thru Low Yat Plaza ) to Times Square shopping centre

Location right on Bintang Walk Noisy air con and refrigerator. Internet was extra This is a good, clean hotel at a reasonable price in a great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little dated, but it's not a problem.
Shopping Tip : Sungei Wei and BB plaza have some very good IT deals.

placed center of the city. very convenient.there are many shopping place at there. around this hotel got many shopping center. Pavilion,loto 10 , Low yat Plaza.. and there is a Alor street near there. famous with restaurant.
From Bukit Bintang to KLCC twin tower is not so far.walkable distance for me.From Bukit bintang to KL sentral station use monorail. weekend, around that area is crowded.

Pleasant staff, good food. Nothing I have found as a first time visitor. I had an enjoyable stay for three nights. The staff were very helpful and polite. We managed to be able to watch the afl footy final at Delaney's bar, which was also a bonus. The prices were very reasonable and the rooms were well maintained and serviced regularly. I will most definetly be staying there again on my return visit. Thankyou Federal Hotel staff and see you soon.

This is the first time I stayed at the Federal and it was quite pleasant. I had stayed at her sister hotel The Capitol and liked it there. The Federal is just as efficient but it has a cosy, old-world charm about it that brings you back to the early days of Malaysia's independence. Definitely worth a try if you want to relive a piece of Malaysia's history

Everything is available in the hotel, like restaurants, gym, spa, nightclub. It's very close to the airport and the hotel provides a free ride to the airport. There is no nighlife around the hotel. We booked the hotel for one night and we did the Mumbai city tour, organised by the hotel travel agency, located in the lobby. We had no clue about where to go, but the driver was pretty good and showed us a lot of interesting places, so that we could get an impression of Mumbai. I also booked the massage in the hotel spa. I can really recommend the massage.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Book the city tour in the hotel.

Very good location and the staffs are friendly and helpful. Althrough it is an old hotel, but still acceptable. I had been staying there several times, I like the location with shopping cntres are just near by and no problem to look for foods with many varieties, you can just walk along the street you can see alots of police on duty, this given you a safe feeling. The counter staffs are friendly and when you do the check in, your previous record are shown and straight away they upgraded me to a better room. I'll saty again when my next trip to KL.
