The Federal hotel is very centrally located. Shops, restaurants etc. are all very nearby.
Hotel staff is very helpfull. Rooms to side of Low Plaza are quite noisy as there was (August 2008) an open-air bar close by with very loud music until 3 a.m. ==> Check first were your room is located!

The Federal Hotel is situated in a great location which is accessible to the various shopping centres and eating places. Walking distance to the mono rail. Had dinner at the Chinese Restaurant and the food was very good. Liked the decor too. Staff overall were very friendly and able to answer questions that we had.
Great location - good accessibility to shops and eating places. Staff very pleasant.
No washing machine or dryer for long stay. Perhaps the hotel could have a couple of washing machines and dryers available for use by the guests. Guest pay for the use of these facilities at a cheaper rate.
- Shopping Tip : Next to the hotel is a 7-eleven shop for a quick snack, drinks, etc.

Good things are hard to get. I would advise visitors to be patient during their check-ins as there is always a line.
- Shopping Tip : Its the best location for your shopping trip! Shopping centres like LOT 10, Sungei Wang are just next door. You can also walk to Times Square or Chinatown (or Petaling as the locals call it) if you prefer.

Although the reception and the foyer have been refurbished and are quite eye catching, the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired. The bed was a hard as a rock followed closely by the pillows. Room appeared to have the bare minimum.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Monorail is close by which is an easy and efficient transportation to places such as the Petronas Towers and Chinatown.

Unfortunately for this hotel we had just spent a week in Penang in a wonderful hotel so we were continuously comparing it to the other property.
- Shopping Tip : You can't go to Kuala Lumpur without going to Pentaling Road Night Markets. Wow. Something for everyone and cheap as chips.

Good experience, lots of restaurants and malls in the area, IMAX theater in Times square mall.
