outside class lift, swimming pool
Very outdated interior, dark restaurant, smell of damp in some corridors, no free internet in hotel rooms and inconsistent helpfulness of staff.
Well if you would like to step back into the late seventies and early eighties then this is the hotel for you. We found this hotel to be very dated in decor and the restaurant used for breakfast was dark and un-welcoming. That aside the room was comfortable and of adequate size and the hotel dose have a good location. No free internet access in room and for a 5 star hotel that should be. (Stayed at another hotel in this chain and had 2 hours free access a day.)
It seems that the restaurant has problems with keeping things warm so if you want a cooked (or at least warm) breakfast you may be better off looking elsewhere. The chefs on the egg counter very unhelpful even though there were several of them. Staff in the restaurant seemed to favor certain people.
On the whole we found this a very disappointing hotel, outdated and in definite need of a re-vamp but if it's location you want then you can't go wrong. We will not return to this hotel.
Shopping Tip : Well the Hotel is right on the "Oxford Street" of Kuala Lumpur don't have to go far to find good shops and local monorail 5 mins from hotel.

Clearer direction in the lobby for reception service - couldn't tell who I was after in terms of the line up (perhaps split the counters, some to be check-in, some to be check-out & mix when it's quieter)
My second visit was a bit surprising. Even though I paid the same rate, the room I was allocated didn't have a dvd player like the first visit. Turns out I was upgraded without being told during the first visit. Generally wouldn't have minded so but this time I had purposely bought dvds to watch while in the room.

Location, five-star at an affordable price, friendly staffs
Weird check-in reception set up - easy for people to cut queue when it gets crowded! Having someone cut your queue is definitely unplesant for tired travellers.
I got a "concept room" on a high floor, so I presume the room is different from other rooms set up, from the front door to the interior, it is different. The front door has a Japanese ornament which looks pretty ugly, and my room number was displayed on a digital signage. The room is basically Japanese-themed with red and black as the main colour, wooden-oldish furnitures, wooden gliding doors to the bathroom that comes with a Jaccuzi (not so sure about other rooms' interior).
The house cleaning officer told me there are only two such rooms in the hotel. I'm glad and feeling special to have been selected to stay in one, though only for a night.
Everything in the room is electronic and digital by a press on the button - except that not everything is functioning properly - when you press the button, the curtain just won't move etc... no privacy if you can't close your curtains you see. Anyway, the friendly staffs helped me to close the curtain "manually" so it was ok. Another thing is that the water pressure for rain shower is extremely low, it felt more like "drizzle" shower.
They should really make sure everything in the room functions properly before leasing it to guests!
Hotel Feature Tip : If you would also like to try out the concept room, the one I stayed was on the 17th floor, smoking room with king-sized bed.
