If you are looking for a Hotel just away from the noise and the busy area, well this is the place to stay, 10 mins easy walk from where it happens, thats all.
I have stayed at the E,Q. several times, it is a good quality Hotel, it is starting to show its age a little but still of a high quality, the B/ fast needs to be improved a little, it was the best in KL but seems to have slipped a little
The Equatorial Hotel is of a good quality even though it seems to me showing its age a little, this however does not detract from the service that you recieve from the staff, they are very helpful in every way.
The Location being 10 mins walk away from the Triangle is just far enough to walk, the Japanese Rest at the Hotel would be maybe the best in K.L.
It is still a very good Hotel for the traveller.
Travel tip : There are times when you do not like to have a big B/fast, at the EQ you are able to have a very good snack at the coffee shop,it is also open till quite late also, it is a great place to relax in

Part of the Equatorial chain
Good location
Good breakfast at low surcharge
Older hotel
Overworked staff
Rooms too small for three
Bathrooms not ventilated
Having stayed at several Equatorial hotels in the past, and frequenting the Penang outlet on a regular basis, I've come to have certain expectations of the franchise, which the KL outlet didn't really meassure up to.
Sure, it's a big hotel, and maybe we were there at an unfortunate time, but all in all, the feeling I got was that the place caters to big shot clients at the expense of the more budget minded guests. Given the vast choice of five-star hotels KL has to offer, we won't stay at the Equatorial again.

oldish interior, small rooms, certainly not 5 star
Equatorial is a decent hotel, but everything looks quite torn. Altogether the quality I would say is not more than 4 stars.
