This hotel is in a location which is near to mass transit and access to major road system in the area. There are many different resturants and small shops nearby as well. I had a very relaxing massage in a reputable parlor which was about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It gave me the pick up needed after some long flights and long meetings. The Twin Towers are a great sight at night.

Many extras with a very good staff helping as much as they can.

A little noisy.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The twin towers are nearby and any visit there should include a trip there for a coffee or dinner.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in October 2008. We found the location to be excellent with easy access to the Monorail (Raja Chulan stop), walk to Petronas and KL Tower. Bukit Bintang is around the corner. Unfortunately we were disappointed that the hotel was so old/outdated. We were in a superior room, which is located on floors 1-10. We had a non-smoking room but when you stepped out of your room the level reeked of cigarette smoke - a non-smoking level/floor would be a good idea! You will still encounter smoking guests in the lift and other areas, unfortunately. We were disappointed with the service at Breakfast. Breakfast served until 10.30, we arrived for breakfast at the restaurant at about 10.20 one morning to have them packing up around us and removing food already which I thought was a bit keen. We had to ask for coffee and even cutlery on more than one occasion, they were too busy to keep up with the number of guests they had in for breakfast. Don't expect pork bacon here - this was a sore point with my husband!

Location, easy walk to Bukit Bintang area, walk to Petronas and KL Tower. Very comfortable bed. Seemed pretty clean.

Old. Very expensive and inflexible internet access. Service wasn't great. Staff's English was not very good. Some things in room did not work properly. No Mini bar.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The monorail was very handy and cheap for getting around however it can get quite squashy at peak times. Alcohol is better value in Chinatown than anywhere else we found.

Sometimes the staff can not cover the guest services due to a lot of work during the summer, and those who came after that. Congestion of guests and too much work, be unlucky because they find all people nervous and can bear any arguments or understanding anyway as I know the people in this hotel I excuse them hope to cover thier favorite guest special attention .....

The room was not as I was expected in spite of that I was one of the oldest and the admired guests of this hotel. This is just a remark for full attention to give their usual and those who are coming back to the hotel.

Great place, very roomy, and with a lovely swimming pool. Close to the Monorail station nearby and a twenty minute walk away from Twin Towers. Very helpful staff, buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. Would recommend, clean, friendly and with easy access to KL sights, shops etc. A 7 Eleven not far away.

Great rooms, great breakfast, and very helpful staff.

Had to follow up housekeeping, missing towels, and missing bottled water.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Monorail only 150 metres way, can use this to get to many locations.

Generally Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur displays the grandeur and is characteristic of 5 star hotels. Most of the facilities are good except for one area of improvement. They need to look into internet connection for guests. I suggest they should make it free instead of charging the guests. Generally, the staff at reception is courteous and helpful. The atmosphere is also conducive for business. Overall, if they can improve the internet connection, Istana Hotel would be a perfect place for accomodation in KL.

Ambience and facilities is good

the internet connection is not up to the mark. My impression is that the hotel is not paying attention to business visitors. For example I remember JW Marriott Hotel Internet connection is free.

If you can afford the extra money I recommend the deluxe rooms as they have that little extra touch of class.

  • Restaurant Tip : Cheap restaurants are found in the side street behind the hotel.

The staff are very helpful and polite. Good choices for breakfast. You are able to eat outside in the garden area also and there is a small shop in the lobby.

Overall hotel is good and suitable for anyone to stay in.

  • Restaurant Tip : Local restaurants worth eating in, plus the new shopping centre has all nationality food available, which is great.
