We had a brief lovely stay at the Hotel Istana. Location is great for wandering round the city centre with our young adult daughters.Staff very friendly and the rooms large
The draw back is the restaurant does not serve any alcoholic drinks and the pool was non functioning on the days we were at the hotel - staff should have drained the pool instead of leaving the horrid green looking water in it.

Location is convenience. Room size is big but there is no safe box. It is not quite convenience when we brought along our personal documents and travel around KL. The lounge is quite okie, we enjoyed the drinks there, but there is no coctails in the menu. Overall for short stay I would be comeback here again.

hotel reception staff helpful and friendly. met all my request for connecting room n another next door (total 3 rooms). rooms are spacious but toilet alittle upgrading to match up. door men not too pleasant and smily. beautiful lobby with nice xmas deco

this supposedly 5-star hotel is not 5-star in my opinion. i don't know how hotel istana got its stars from. to use the internet one must pay a whopping malaysian ringgit. the designs look cheap. the only 2 good things are the location and the lobby.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Stay at nearby Pacific Regency Hotel instead.

I was quite disappointed by this so rated 5-star hotel. The intelligence and competence of the staff is questionable. We arrived on already a late evening, but with the lack of cleverness and ineffective service of the staff - we didn't get settled until 1:00AM the next morning. Although the condition of the Hotel is 4-5 star but the service is appalling. I would expect such a high rating hotel would have kept employees with a bit of friendliness and intelligence and common sense. When we arrived, I couldn't open the door of the room allocated to me with the provided card. So, I went downstairs leaving my poor old parents standing outside the room waiting. With the lack of intelligence, the person behind the receptionist made a judgement that it was lock that was faulty without even attempted to issue a new card.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Location is good and ambiance os the restaurant and the hotel in general is very good. But, the quality of service and intelligene of staff is amazing !
