Shocking service from a 5-Star hotel

i booked a room @ intercontinental kuala lumpur for my parents in view of its ideal location in kuala lumpur. based on the "intercontinental" brand name, we do not expect the service level to be compromised. anyway my parents vowed never to stay in intercontinental kl and i will surely not recommend any leisure or business guests to the hotel again.
the most shocking of all is the minetal water provided in the room is full of soap. yes, you heard me right. my mom initially thought that the outside of the bottle was somehow contaminated but after several wash, it whole bottle lathered more and more. i wonder if the hosekeeping staff accidentally placed a bottle of detergent (contained in the hotel mineral water bottle)and gave it to the guests as drinking water. whatever it is, there is no excuse for this. my dad also said that service at the front desk is so bad that he saw no point in lodging a complaint. it was like all hotel staff are not interested in their work, let alone competent enough to handle a complaint. this is truly shocking for a 5-star establishment.

the stay was great. we particularly like the six six pieces of complimentary laundry per day. the food and drink served at the executive lounge were of good quality and delicious. the king bed in the room is a highlight. it is extremely large, comfortable and supportive. great for a good night's sleep and for three people.
Restaurant Tip:
Upgrade to executive floor or great complimentary food and cocktail at specific hours. Execllent service.

my first trip ever in kl, i had the best experiences in kl due to the comfort of stay at intercontinental-kl. complete available amenities that you could expect & more. i appreciate a nice swimming pool on the 5th floor. i appreciate the generosity of breakfast buffet.
Shopping Tip:
free shuttle from hotel to the twin towers, the massive shopping complex is right underneath.

it was a family trip. the room is good, on the 19th floor. especially i liked a big window - from ceiling to the floor.

Overall it was a comfortable stay.The kids prefer to stay in the rooms than go out but the air conditioner was a lot cooler than the fridge which was woeful. You could not keep a small bottle of anything that has milk/yoghurt in it for very long.
Restaurant Tip:
KFC,Pizza Hut,MacD and grocery store are only on the other side of road through the subway underbridge.

Unforgettable New Year Eve 2011 - bad memory!

everything is just fine with the hotel, in fact, is the best room quality as compared to many other hotels that we have stayed.
however, our mood was spoilt by the lobby lounge manager during the new year eve party. we paid for entrance which was not cheap with cover charge of only 1 glass of wine & rm50 spa voucher. the party was boring, the lady staff were not well-trained to serve or bring up the atmosphere, forgot to give us the rm50 spa voucher .. the party was just normal count-down. the poor thing is the lobby lounge manager is not well-trained and bad attitude to us as local customer, only entertain the foreigners, failed to give attention to our request of party gift pack though we kept asking many staff of them why we were the only one table not given the party pack and all others had it and enjoyed/used it while count down. the manager not even bother to take care our request!! and, not even say a word "sorry!! all other lady staff also the same, not paid us attention and ignore us, treated us like we were looking for problems! very disappointed! should have just enjoyed the count-down at klcc. we did complaint to the director, fortunately that our complaint had been given attention and compensated with rm300 voucher to its japanese restaurant. all and all, the management still keeps up to standard as previous management, just the "lobby lounge manager" must be trained further as front line staff!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
KLCC is just walking distance from the hotel. Citibank is just next door!
