worrisome
good position, comfortable room
7.3
I was rather put off this hotel by the reception I received. I was asked first if I the room was for me alone, and then told three times that I was not to take people to my room. At 63 years of age I don't think this is very likely - I was insulted, and indeed wondered what actually does go on in their hotel. I have travelled extensively alone and never been asked/told such things.

I often travel to KL but it was the first time I chose Nikko Hotel - but it is certainly not the last time.
The Nikko Hotel was really great, from the moment I entered to the time I checked out, I was impressed by their service and the rate offered on Agoda.
I checked in early but it was no problem at the recepetion.
The internet in the room was great, the breakfast buffet had a wide selection of items.
I joined the dinner buffet which was fantastic - the selection was one of the best I've seen at a hotel.
The gym was also great. Very big and spacious with only new, modern machines as well as a wide range of free weights, benchpress, etc.
The shopping area of KLCC is walking distance away.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Use the gym - it is really good. Lots of equipment and not alot of people.

The key is the location
Good price & great location, right beside the underground & the petronas towers
9.3
If you want shopping & sightseeing then stay at this hotel.
To get to the hotel do the following:
Get the train from the airport main terminal to the central station. Get the pink line to Ampang Park terminal & you are outside the hotel (avoid using the hotel either way car as their price 10 times the price of the train & just under twice that of a normal taxis).
When returning to the airport bear in mind there is no train before 06:00am so if you have to get a taxi then don't use the hotel car. Ask one of the local taxi guys around the corner & he'll do the trip for just over half the price.
In the evening, you can eat at one of the top class restaurants nearby for less than half the price of the hotel evening buffet. (so avoid the evening hotel buffet!)
Restaurant Tip:
Eat outside in the evening in a top class restaurant for less than half the price of the hotel evening buffet.

Pay the extra
executive floors and executive lounge

This was a last minute booking so I was really pleased with my choice. The Nikko is well positioned in terms of transportation and the towers. The Hotel shuttle bus service is really useful and the guy will run you around all the sites and shopping malls.
The exec rooms are very nice and the lounge is really well run and managed. I and other guests were well looked after, its well worth the extra for a free buffet and drinks in the evening.
If I am in KL I would book the Nikko.
Shopping Tip:
just ask the hotel staff for all that KL can offer the shopaholic!

The hotel is right in the centre. Some traffic on the main road to go to the airport, but not a big problem, just leave earlier from hotel. There is a big buffet for all taste and cook can adapt to your taste. Restaurant is nicely decorated and staff very professional and helpfull. Hotel is very clean and very Japanese in its decoration, sobre and neat.

Hotel is old
Located near KLCC, easy access to the city center
6.3
The hotel in my opinion is already old. While the room was spacious, the interior like the bathroom and the walls looked a little bit rundown. Even our TV set was old. So to pay for this hotel at a 5-star rate is I think not worth it.
A good thing about the hotel is it's location and the choice of breakfast. The hotel has a shuttle service to KLCC which provides you access to almost everything -- shopping, dining, pharmacy, etc.
We had a king-sized bed, which was marvelous in size. But the sheets and pillows smelled awful. It was as if someone who had pomade on the hair had already used the pillows before we came. In the end, we just placed most of them on the floor and lay on our backs.
