Location was good. Clean. Staff efficient.
F & B totally overpriced, rooms small.
Having stayed at many hotels all round the world of various stars, I would not put the KL Shangri-la anywhere near the top of my "return to" list. The location was great but other than that there was very little about it that made it stand out in any way.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Walking distance to the Petronas Towers but not to the KL tower.

Location superb, service excellent
My wife and I stayed on the Horizon Club Level and there was no negative experience. The food was excellent and it changed daily. The service was very first class and the surroundings were very nice. I cannot recommend any higher. The room was good and the hotel is located within walking distance to most central locations. The staff were very helpful to a first time visitor to KL.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The monorail station is walking distance.

Great Food & Service. A good mix of locals & visitors, so there is a taste of real KL.
The location is good, near the main upscale shopping center, the Twin Towers. If noise is an indication, good for nightlife.
They are under construction. The club floors are estimated at being closed for a year...they make no apology for giving you a Deluxe room 10 floors lower down. There's the noise and smells...the noise though is very considerate: 9 am or later only until 5 to 7 pm.
The surrounding nightlife is not loud until around 2 am and then the bass is mplified until 3 am closing.
I cannot understand KL hotels...complaints seem to be completely ignored. Be it the Westin...very beige ... a better location for 'local color' outside ...terrible food....to the Istana, very nice but no business television stations in any language... they are quite simply completely nonresponsive... But of the three, if you're there on business, the Shangri La is the hands down winner...
They also will provide FT and South China Morning Post along with the usual local & international newspapers.
In their Lemon Garden Cafe, the breakfast and buffet restaurant, you can pick fresh herbs for your food...every night they had fresh roast turkey--they had no idea how to cut it but they kept trying---it was charming. Also from breakfast thru dinner there are Chinese, Indian, Noodle stations (not really any Malaysian but their Malaysian guests, I'm told, eat better at home). The staff, even the chefs were charming.
Very very difficult to answer the satisfied/unsatisfied..but best of 3 and I hear the end of construction will bring many good things, and no need for excuses...
Shopping Tip : The Kinokuniya Bookstore in the nearby shopping center is the best and biggest I've seen in Asia.
