Nice city center location. Riverside.
This is my last stop from long vacation to Singapore & Bangkok. So I spending most of my time in the rooms. Luckily is an Executive Superior room. Not a bad choice but a bit expensive without breakfast. Walking distance to some shopping area around the hotel. Kuching is a small town, not much attraction here. The hotel staffs are not serving with a smile, may be because the hotel just changed to other name, no more "Holiday Inn". Luckily my reservation still available.
Hotel Feature Tip : A small lounge for executive room hotel guests. Only drinks are provided..too bad.

Centralized location with a good and cheap foot massage parlor across the street.
The usually terrible "International" breakfast buffet.
OK hotel on the river with a fine pool. The concierge was most friendly and helpful. We could walk to many museums, restaurants, and movie theaters. I wouldn't suggest using the room service however, as the food was pretty bad and didn't coincide with what was written on the menu! The hotel seemed to be transitioning between being the Holiday Inn and being called The Grand Margarita Resort, so things were in a bit of flux....no stationary in the room, no "hotel info" in the desk saying what the pool hours were, etc. It was a cheap stay and not luxurious.
Restaurant Tip : Be sure and dine at The Little Lebanon Restaurant nearby! It was so fabulous that we went twice! Who would expect good middle eastern food in Borneo?!

Check-in was easy. Just show the reception a print-out of the booking with Agoda and all the details are there. Took less than 15 min.
Hotel was central, convenient and close to many shops and restaurants and food centres.
Room was small and faces the main road. The air-conditioning was weak and just so-so.
We booked 2 nights at the Holiday Inn, Kuching. Check-in was fast and easy. Just produce your print-out from Agoda and your details are there. I was disappointed that my room faces the main road and not the Sarawak River. I found out later that the river-facing rooms cost more. However, the hotel is central and convenient. There is no lack of food as there are many coffee-shops and restaurants nearby. For those who prefer the fast-food restaurants, you can get MacDonald's, KFC and Pizza-Hut, all within 5 mins walking distance. We prefer authentic Sarawak food and had lobster and crabs at Top-Spot Food Court (10 min walking distance) at reasonable prices. The famous Sarawak Laksa and Kolok mee are easily obtainable around the hotel vicinity. Should you need to get any last minute gifts before you leave for the airport, you could easily pop into the Sarawak Plaza next door or to Parksons Grand across the road to buy your stuff. On the whole, a very convenient and centrally located hotel for the traveller who prefers to walk about town and who enjoys taking in the local delights.
Restaurant Tip : We love our seafood dinner at Top Spot Food Court! Do enquire about prices first before ordering, though.

Close to shops
River views
No free wifi in rooms.
Charged for broadband use
This is a good hotel but not great. Staff were friendly & I was given a good room with a river view but the rooms do not have free wifi & the charges are relatively steep for broadband use. The hotel is in the centre of town & close to all shops & the waterfront area.
Rooms were good with good bed desk cable tv & a shower in the bathroom over a full size bath.
Would stay there again.

Located at Centre of town.
The Holiday Inn is located at the heart of the city. It's convenient to shoppers since nearby got many shopping centers (Sarawak Plaza, Tun Jugah, Parkson Store) and attractions (Riverfront). The room is big (Superior room with 2 queen size bed) and the capacity can up to more than 4 person although the max. person is 4.
Shopping Tip : Sarawak Plaza, Tun Jugah, Parkson Store, and Riverfront.

Located at the waterfront with nice view, there are 24 hours restaurants and shop as well as shopping malls
I found one of the staff at the executive lounge was very rude (I don't want to go in details here). Otherwise, I had a great time here.
So far, the hotel is very comfy and highly strategic. The price is reasonable for its facilities. Maybe I would stay here again if I visit Kuching.

I found nothing that needed improvement, I was very satisfied
I and my partner had an excellent time at the hotel. Staff were friendly, the resources of the hotel excellent, the proximity to the city made it an excellent choice. I would stay again
Shopping Tip : an excellent hotel for access to shopping

The hotel is located centrally. The value price level is good. The standard of the hotel is really sufficient. Especially the shopping and other known sightseeing points are directly located and close to the hotel. We would come again. Interesting to see how fast everything is developing. We only can recommend the hotel to everybody. The hotel service staff is trying to support everybody as good as possible.
Restaurant Tip : good access to restaurants

Nice location - river view & shopping malls, shops are surrounding.
Bad attitude on housekeeping staff.
Staffs in-charge of reception and baggage are friendly and helpful. Nice location as river viewing, shopping malls and shops are surrounding the hotels; very convenient.
House keeping staff attitude is rude and slow action. She brings me shower kit 30 minutes after I requested and asked many questions before handing it to me. Besides, my check out time is at 2pm, but at 1.40pm, the house keeping lady (same person) knocking my door with her unhappy face. From my point of view was, if the management is not agreeing to let me extend my check out time to 2pm, they can say “Sorry, we’re unable to do so…..” during my requisition. Once committed, they should not do so unless reach 2pm I’m still hanging there, not checking out. (Reception did call me at 1.30pm to reconfirm the check out.) I’ve stayed many hotels, and requested so when needed. So far, all are satisfied except this. I’m very disappointed on the service provided by the housekeeping department.
Hotel Feature Tip : Dinning - Curry chicken rice is nice.

Great location, clean and spacious rooms.
Bathrooms need renovation.
Holiday Inn Kuching is very conveniently located: just a few minutes walk from the Waterfront, with all kinds of shops and eateries nearby and many sights accessible on foot. Our rooms were spacious and clean, with two comfortable double beds, tea and coffee making facilities, an ironing board, a safety deposit box. Free bottled water is delivered every day. Bathrooms were nothing special but not terrible either and did not spoil our overall impression of the hotel. The staff is quite helpful. There is a nice little coffee shop in the lobby serving tasty cakes, and a travel agency that can arrange any kind of travel in Borneo (but bargain hard, we for instance managed to get a discount of about 1/3).
Travel tip : Drinks are expensive at the hotel bar, so you'd better stock up at the Crowne Plaza across the road, there's a supermarket in the basement (and shopping is not bad at Parkson department store).
Lots of cafes around the hotel serve good breakfast and it's really cheap. Try laksa (a decent laksa stall is to the left across the street).

Riverside location, comfortable rooms, decent Szechuan restaurant
Variable service, a little faceless
Just the name "Holiday Inn" is a little faceless, but it does denote a certain comfort. People having spent a couple of nights in Bako would enjoy the showers and large rooms, everyone would love the riverside location. This is a fairly well-run, well-located hotel. What it lacks in charm it can make up in good value deals and a comfortable stay. The Szechuan restaurant is worth trying out and breakfast offers a suitably broad range of foods.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you are in Kuching, do not miss Bako, which is best seen by staying at least one night in the park. Bookings should be made beforehand, though, as it gets popular.

Comfortable room, good river views, 5 hour happy hour, staff helpful, good central location
Good restaurants nearby, close proximity to large selection of shopping, courteous staff, great view over the river, access to day tours although there was some discrepancies about what was written on the brochuresand what actually happened ie times of the tour and it was not clear whether or not there was a meal included.

The hotel is good value for money.
Very well situated, spacious and reasonably clean room, near the river promenade and Chinatown.
One does not need to spend more to stay a couple of days in Kuching.
Do not forget to visit the Malay Cultural Village. The bus can be booked at the hotel. And departs from the same place.
Restaurant Tip : Near restaurant "James Brook"
