The manager was very friendly and provide us good service.

Very old hotel. Mineral water was limited . Given 2 for 4 guests and need to refill 2 ourselves.

One of the stand light in one of the std room was out of order. The safe box in both std rooms were out of order. Scary corridor. Luckily, a kind manager suggested us to upgrade to apartment. Bright and cosy in the appartment. Feel secure and good time to gather at the living hall after a day trip.

near Main Bazaar, helpful staff

carpets old, smell musky in corridor

We were given a double bed instead of twin bed. We were told there were no more rooms, so were upgraded to a deluxe room. The last 2 nights of our 8 nights stay, we upgraded to a 2 bedroom appt. We had enjoyed our stay there and we understand they were ungrading, so we would most probably use this hotel again.

Great size apartment, central location, friendly staff, good food

Needs redecorating, faded glory!

We were very pleasantly surprised by the Merdeka Palace as the web-site wasn't great and we'd been warned not to expect much in Malaysia (after coming from Singapore)! We found it had a certain 'faded glory' to it. It had obviously once really felt like a 'Palace' but now needed redecorating and sprucing up. However the apartment sizes certainly made up for any worries about the decoration! We had a huge two bedroomed apartment, king size bed in master bedroom and requested twin beds in the other, which also had an en-suite. There was a good sized living area with open plan dining area, a cloak room and a kitchen area (although with no cutlery/crockery/equipment - other than tea/coffee making facilities). All in all, a great place to stay in Kuching.
