Lovely atmosphere, buggy service everywhere. Massive resort with amazing spa and restaurants. Fantastic buffet breakfast with very large selection. We had a large hornbill perched on a nearby tree while we enjoyed our breakfast. Would be ideal for families with kids. There is also a private beach with all the facilities and a nice, clean pool area where deck-chair massages were available for only 60 ringgit. Good airconditioned rooms and power shower.

Sometimes the buggies can take a while to arrive, but we learnt that it was easier to stand at cross-roads and wait than at your hotel door, as you would undoubtedly meet a returning buggy from elsewhere that would pick you up. Bit far from the main action of the town but a cab is easy to get and cheap.

We stayed at the Berjaya Langkawi from December 21st - 24th. Dunno why it says submission date is October - it is 27th December today. My first impression was that the hotel was HUGE. However, a buggy service is available 24/7 that takes you to your rooms and back which was very helpful. The staff were all very friendly and they upgraded our room to a king-sized bed instead of a double bed which was very nice. The room itself was very sufficient. Each little hut protrudes from the face of the jungle (or sea if you paid for the waterside chalets) and on first impression looks very basic. However, they put a lot of effort into doing it up and it looks fantastic inside and each hut has a balcony where each morning you can see monkeys swinging around and various tropical birds. It is fully air conditioned and has a power shower so although it is a hut, the interior has the feel of a standard city hotel room with a rustic feel. The only bad things about the hotel was that it is far from Pantai Cenang (the main tourist area) and Kuah (city center) but taxis are easy to come by and cheap as chips. The main spread for breakfast was massive and good and the facilities fantastic. The spa was wonderful, relatively well-priced and had a wonderful set of baths set into the tropical atmosphere. The themed swimming pool and private beach area with volleyball/football/watersport facilities completed the resort feeling. In terms of tour bookings, we assessed all the options from Kuah to Pantai Cenang and the hotel and found a minimal difference in price. Safety was always the first and foremost concern with the hotel and as they weren't tied to individual tour operators, they were able to offer the most balanced recommendation and suitable tour operator (e.g. families with kids etc). All in all, I would highly recommend the Berjaya Langkawi. If I returned I would most certainly book that hotel again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There is an Oriental Village outisde the hotel. I would not recommend visiting it as the food there is terrible and blindingly expensive. It is far better to take a cab to Pantai Cenang and get very good food for less than half the price at Oriental Village. The spa is a must for spa lovers.

Rooms are very clean. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Shuttle service from chalets to lobby are very punctual and fast.

Breakfast spread could have had a wider range.

We stayed for three nights in a Premier Chalet on land (Thanks Agoda.com for the special offer). The room was big and very clean. No such problems as others have had with the cleanliness. The shuttle service from chalets to anywhere else in the resort was exceptionally fast. Never had to wait more then 3 minutes for a shuttle to appear. The breakfast spread is not the greatest and could have done with a wider range, but overall pretty adequate. The one bad thing, in my opinion, is that around 7am and 7pm, a group of little insects would make a lot of noise, very similar to an alarm going off. Can be frustrating in the mornings. Other then that, great resort and will definitely be a place to return to in the future. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!

Beautiful gardens and surrounds. Easy check-in and welcome drinks while we waited for our rooms. Loved the privacy of the chalets situated in the bush. Neat and clean rooms. Next door to Cable cars and Oriental village.

Bathrooms need updating

A wonderful place to stay! The surrounds are so peaceful and you don't have to worry about noisy neighbours. The shuttle buses were always available to take you to and from your rooms. They even take you to the cable cars and oriental village. The restaurants at the hotel were great. We even hired a car at the hotel and went into Kuah town to the night markets and to Underwater world. Everyone was very friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Beautiful resort, cute leaf eating monkey neighbors make good photograph subjects, good restaurants

Way to huge so can't get anywhere by yourself, pool is rubbish, isolated from pretty much everything else if you don't have a car and again...waay to huge a resort.

Berjaya is a beautiful resort but away from everything else on the island (except the cable car in the oriental village tho that is still a short drive) so get ready to spend on taxis or rent a car. Because the resort is so vast they have a buggy system where u call from your room and a buggy gets sent to take u where you want to go (the lobby, spa etc). While in theory this sounds fine, sometimes the buggy takes 10-20 mins (especially in the evening), and this is just plain irritating. Perhaps it’s the sort of traveler that I am but I hate not being able to go anywhere myself and waste time waiting for a buggy (that sometimes doesn't take you on because it's already full). Another gripe, their pool was under maintenance for the first 2 days I stayed and when it was eventually open, I found it too shallow and a bit murky (did not expect a below average pool with Berjaya). The good bits, very nice room, clean and spacious. I ate at their restaurants, Pan Thai and Mizumi and enjoyed the food. Friendly staff so no problems there. Again, the resort is gorgeous and makes for very nice photographs. Not a bad place but not really the type of place for me.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Spend the extra money and opt for Langkawi coral to visit Palau Payar. Its worth it, with a very good buffet, security for your luggage, easy access to the gorgeous coral reef and is just more comfortable than the other packages.

it was nice staying in Bejaya resort! especially the Thai restraunt in the sea! Watching the sunset, enjoying the dinner, very nice holiday with my husband.

the facility in Chalet is not as expected as 4 stars hotel, or 5 stars?

it was nice staying in Bejaya resort! especially the Thai restraunt in the sea! Watching the sunset, enjoying the dinner, very nice holiday with my husband. Recommended hotel, if taxi to downtown is acceptable. $26 per trip. The people on the island are nice, except the travel agents. I met 2 travel agents were not telling the true price, which made us not comfortable. So suggest asking more agents if you want to know the true price. Overall Langkawi is a very nice vacation destination for weekend. for couple :)

chalets comfortable, private beach very quiet...perfect for adults to relax...watersports on tap and plenty of food and drinks choices spa is excellent

not much to do outside of resort, langkawi is kind of quiet except locally in the many resorts

upon arrival at the hotel the staff were very efficient, having complete records of payment and booking etc...no fuss whatsoever. the cart system from the chalets to the reception/pool might sound slightly offputtig but it was very easy and we never waited for a cart for more than a minute...they are always at reception and plenty of them. room had a great view and was very peaceful and the bay the resort is in is very quiet and perfect to relax for a weekend with the spa, watersports and 5 restaurants...the beach restaurant is especially good

it was a lovely resort, set in nature's backdrop. very tranquil with nice staff.

the chalets creak. its very far from town, bathrooms need a complete makeover.

we just got back last week and it was wonderful.our stay at berjaya resort was of two nights and it was memorable.it has a unique beauty, very calm and peaceful place with a lovely beach. the beach looks beautiful with the chalets, although we had a chalet in the woods.the major problem there is that are no fast food joints nearby and is quite far from town so transport is not easy to come by.fares are more. the chalets are a bit old and creak when u walk.well i am not a very adventrous person and at night the place got a little creepy .the mornings at berjaya were simply FABULOUS!!monkeys outside our chalet, squirrels accompanying us to breakfast!!the staff is nice and shuttle service is quick but the restaurants are expensive and the food not really worth the money!the pool is huge and lovely.we just chilled out and relaxed.one thing was very disturbing and that was the bathroom in the chalet -it was not up to the mark! overall i think berjaya was a wonderful experience!

Beautiful surroundings.

Berjaya Beach Resort is a very nice resort with a wonderful beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Resort design is quite charming with the wooden chalets built on poles – some on the water, others on the hillside. This is a great place to enjoy a relaxing holiday. We stayed in a Premier Chalet on water, which was a very nice room with a good balcony. It is a bit far from the main building and the beach, but it was not a problem, as the shuttle service worked very well.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The cable car in the nearby Oriental Village is a must – the view is fantastic. The shuttle from the hotel will take you there.

chalet type of accomodation make you feel relax as you are really out of reach from the city hotel where you wakeup seeing nothing else then building. in a chalet type of stay (hilltop), u enjoy the quietness in the night. the only sound you heard is either the voice of your loves one or the sound from the tv set or the sounds of the insects. in the morning you wakeup breathing fresh air from your surrounding nature.worth staying for honeymooners. two thumbs up.

getting to the city, although it might take around 25mins to half an hour. but it is still not that very far. choices and vaiety of breakfast n buffet dinner not that attractive. quite limited.

is not my 1st time staying in langkawi berjaya resort n spa. is the surrounding atmosphere that bring me back to this resort where i can relax and be close to nature than seeing concrete building which i been seeing everyday n night in singapore. money worth spend. courteous n helpful of staffs make you feel more relaxing getting to destination of your choice. all my request was met when arrived n staffs did not take to long to process my check in.worth staying in this beatiful resort set in a beautiful corner of malaysia.

Restaurant Tip : many nice pubs n resturant can be found at pantai cenang. food price worth spending as dishes serve was fresh n delicious.

Loved the setting of this resort, in the jungle and next to the beach, best of both worlds. The resort was also quite a distance from the main town of Langkawi which I think is a positive thing because I actually didn't really like the town anyway as it was a bit smelly and dirty looking. The resort itself was very well presented, lobby is open (no windows or doors) and it is just gorgeous it is also very clean and there is a nice shop in the lobby. Gym facilities looked good (though I didn't use them!) and the pool was wonderful. The shuttle service was fantastic when catching from lobby to room and it is so hilly that you will really want to use the shuttle especially when travelling with kids. The rooms were SO clean and are cleaned thoroughly every day, there is a day bed in the room which we used for our 4 year old to sleep on and the housekeeping staff would make this up as a bed for us every morning which was nice. A few different places to eat in the resort, definitely more expensive than outside the resort but still only the price you would pay to have a meal in Australia so we did not mind. The resort beach is great for swimming, very clear and we saw a lot of fish right by the shore. In the lobby there are desks where you can organise activities that you want to do, I thought that was a bonus, also the tour we booked through the hotel was much cheaper than the tours that you book at the geopark. Close to Oriental Village was a bonus, because that was a nice clean little area with cheap shopping and cheap food, also a couple of animal pakrs, the cable car and even elephant rides which we decided was too unethical for us to take part in - but its there if you want it.

Very few things I disliked about the hotel but here they are: * In peak times you may have to wait a while if you called for a shuttle to pick you up from your room, a couple of times we waited for 10 minutes or so and then got annoyed and walked instead. * Food is expensive in the resturants though the chinese resturant seemed to be ok but we did not eat there. The breakfast at Dayang Cafe had a big variety but it was pretty much the same every day and I was bored of it by the time we left, but seeing as Oriental Village doesnt open til late morning we ate at the resort every day anyway. Note also that the Beach Resturant has the same breakfast as the Dayang Cafe, when we booked we did not get included breakfast so since we were paying we decided we would try the beach resturant which was 77MR per adult compared with 53MR per adult at Dayang and the food was essentially the same. *The electrical cabling in the room behind the bedside table was REALLY dodgy and probably dangerous especially with kids so just leave furniture where it is. *No DVD players in rooms and the channels of TV were pretty boring, you can however pay 50MR and get a DVD player for the duration of your stay.

We stayed at Berjaya Langkawi late November during Malaysian school holidays and also in time for LIMA 09 so the resort was packed. We enquired about upgrading our room from deluxe to premier but there was nothing available to upgrade to as it was so busy. To get to the hotel you take a winding road through the jungle and its much prettier than the scenery in the town, you will probably see wildlife before you even arrive at the resort. The resort spans a large area and has a very private feel to it even though you do have neighbours, you rarely see them and we did not really hear them at all. The lobby is huge and I thought it was very appealing, open space, a fountain and a big chandelier, staff at reception were very quick and efficient. Also mention staff at this hotel and even just people on the island in general LOVE babies, it was like everyone was obsessed with my 11 month old son, people everywhere stopping us all the time to touch and talk to the baby or even take photos with him! The main hotel resturant is just downstairs from the lobby, the resort isn't overly stroller-friendly but it isn't unmanageable. The resturants all have a great atmosphere but I found the music at the cafe to be a little bit repetitive. A driver will take your luggage in a shuttle up to your room and the poor guy will carry it all up there, I thought our driver was going to have a heart attack carrying out bags as there are a lot of stairs to get to some of the rooms. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable, the king size bed is great and the linen was very soft, the hotel provided us with a cot for no extra charge and we used the day-bed as a night bed for our 4 year old. Although the prices of the mini-bar items seemed cheap to us foreigners when we arrived at 5MR for a can of coke, you will soon realise that at Oriental Village you purchase cokes for 1.50MR so it's worthwhile going for a walk. Also there is EXTREMELY cheap alcohol on this island, you can buy a bottle

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Dev's Adventure Tours - Well priced and a great way to see the natural attractions of the Island
