Near to the airport.
Nice atmosphere
The room is not fully carpeted.Need to improve on that.The pool is also not well maintain as there are leaves and branches in the pool.
This is my 2nd time to Langkawi after more than 10 years. The moment my family and I arrived at the hotel, I was suprised to find that the hotel was just a walking distance from the airport.Nevertheless, I find the hotel ok.The room was quite big, for a family it will be just nice.Maybe the hotel had recently done some refurbishment, I wouldn't know but I think the hotel rooms should be fully carpeted because for elder people like my parents, they may find it cold under their feet walking on the bare stone floor.Overall, the hotel was pleasant and confortable and suitable for people who travels on a budget.I will consider staying there if I get the chance to comeback to Langkawi.

The most thing i like in the Helang Hotel especially the bath tub. The environment there is suitable for my vacation. I can conclude that even the Helang hotel is quite old, but the room and the facilities are the best.

Do not stay in this hotel if you want to use it as a base to explore Langkawi - it is too far and very costly in taxi fares.
Hotel Feature Tip : Airport staff will advise you to get a taxi to this hotel but dont listen to them - it is less than 5 minutes to walk, even with all your luggage!

Price & Locality coz it's near to Cenang.
We arrived Langkawi at 5.15pm and checked into the hotel right after, since it's just next to the airport. No towels were available upon check-in and even after calling to housekeeping and waited for 30 mins, nobody sent them up! We had to go down to reception thereafter to request for them after several unanswered calls to housekeeping and reception! Never knew when it's sent up coz we left the hotel for dinner.
Had to update our room card everyday coz it expires and eventhough we paid for our room via agoda for 5 nights. It's either the reception service is poor or is it the card system...? well, obviously something needs to be done to improve the service.
For the price we paid, I don't mind that the decoration & upkeep of hotel is beyond standard but at least we deserve to have better service!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It's a good hotel to stay for that price coz it's near to Cenang Beach, the happening place of Langkawi. Cenang is the place for food, shopping and nightlife! ... and also the beach!

The price is excellent.
Good for late flight as it is just located nearby the airport.
The room is very big and clean
No much choice for food.
The view is normally to the airport... but having a far view
If you live in Heleng, you should rent a car because there is nothing much nearby.
I was surprised when I first come into the room because it is unexpectedly clean, big and comfortable at this kind of price.
I will definitely book Heleng hotel if I go Langkawi again.

If you are renting a vehicle to get around in Langkawi, this hotel is a good option as one just needs to walk between the airport and hotel. The hotel is located about 15 minutes of driving from the Oriental Village and 10 minutes of driving from Pantai Cenang. As Langkawi is not a big island, it's quite convenient to get to many of the tourist spots from this hotel.
The rooms are big for the price and I found both the firm bed and soft pillows to my liking. For an extra 10 Ringgit, we upgraded to a room with 2 queen beds which can sleep 4 persons. However, the hotel only provided 2 towels as extra towels are chargeable.
Being next to the airport, we didn't hear any notice from the planes taking off or landing. In fact, the hotel was a bit too quiet at times as I was there during the low season.
Just need some minor touch up work on the bathtub and sinks.

I like the swimming pool and the room is spacious
I would like to suggest that the bathroom door should put a hook for hanging clothes.
It is worth staying in Hotel Helang, the rate of the room is cheap yet spacious. If you travel by plane, then it is the most convenient hotel to stay with as it is right next to the Langkawi Internation Airport, but do not worry about the noise pollution.
Very enjoy & relaxing to swim in the pool.
The staff are warm and friendly.

Far away from everything (Cenang ~4km) except the airport (~200m). We changed hotels because of this (to Hotel Aseania, which was a good decision). You need to take a taxi to buy even bottled water! Renting a car/scooter is a must and great fun. Probably because of the distance to everything, it seemed almost as if we were the only guests (very quiet).
We had a beutiful view (we suspect) but we couldn't really enjoy it because the window was so dirty. The bedlinen were no changed after the last guest, just made tightly! We had to ask them to be changed in the middle of the night. The mirrors were installed wrongly and they were ruined by the glue.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a car or a motorbike as soon as possible, even if you're staying in Cenang. It's great fun and a convenient way to see the whole island. Watch out for the road humps (we witnessed a motorbike accident because of one)!

The price, size of the room and the location from the airport are good selling points for transits, or those arriving late and do not wish to spend the extras just for the night's sleep.
1)The shower pressure is a little low for a good shower.
2)The breakfast taste bad although its cheap. I'd rather not eat or get something else outside of the hotel.
3)The location to the popular Cenang Beach stretch and other attractions is quite a distance unless you rent a car.
4)Hotel should get some activities going. Restaurants lack promotions and specials.
I would stay in Helang Hotel only for the first night as a transit since the flight arrives late leaving only the evening time for Free & Easy move about. The price for the stay through Agoda is very good for such a location and room set up. Ideal for families and groups.
Travel tip : Rent a car and take a short 15 - 20 mins drive to either Kuah town or Cenang Beach for dinner upon arrival.

The Helang has at some point been a top class hotel. That point is clearly some considerable time in the past. It is in urgent need of refurbishment with carpets in halls very dirty, mold on exit signs, grayish sheets, thin worn towels and many loose fittings all around the place. The staff were friendly but there weren't that many, although for the first few days of our stay they outnumbered guests. Most of the restaurants were closed and my wife and I walked to the airport for some meals or went into the nearby beach areas. The pool is good though the planking areas around it are in need of urgent repair.
I doubt I would stay there again, we went from the Helang to the Sheraton in Kuala Lumpur, the comparison was not kind to the Helang.
Restaurant Tip : There are some great restaurants in the nearby beach towns.
