Great beach, excellent services but old rooms

The resort is very well-planned with beautiful landscaping, two very nice pools. Beach front restaurant is great, with good BBQ dinner. We stayed in the lakefront rooms and the rooms are a bit dated, lights and safe were not working when we got in, but the staff got everything repaired immediately.
The beach is just beautiful. The hotel has a lot of facilities and activities, so you don't ever need to leave if you don't want to!

Great Resort in a fantastic setting

I have come to expect great service and hospitality in Malaysia but that experienced at the Meritus Palangi even exceeded my expectations. On arrival the group I was with were treated to ice cold lemon and green tea drinks, cold towels and a friendly welcome. Extensive swimming pools, wonderful views of the ocean, seafood BBQ in the evenings while being entertained by a highly professional Malaysian dance group .. it does not get much better. I have stayed at the exclusive Andaman Resort before but the overall experience of the Meritus Palangi would be my preference in the future.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The resort is very spread out and if you are allocated a chalet a long way from the dining and reception area, don't hesitate to call the concierge who will promptly have transport in a golf type buggy arranged for you

Beautiful hotel but some ant problems.

We had a very pleasant stay, very friendly staff and the spa was awesome. The only problem was that there were ants in the room and they came all over my baby's formula and cereal.
The location is good too, very close to restaurants.

Fabulous resort!

We were upgraded to a lakefront unit on arrival, which was very nice. Rooms/buildings are gorgeous, the gardens are beautiful, the pools are huge and have great features like waterslides, bridges, an rock island and a waterfall -- wonderful for kids. Great buffet breakfast; good variety. Friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely stay here again. Our only nit-pick is that the pool/beach chairs could use an update -- the cheaper resort we also stayed at on this vacation actually had nicer, more comfortable chairs . . .

Resory hotel with friendly service

We were always greeted with smile by every staff.
Our room was garden facing, it was facing this pond. Maintenance should be done to the pond because water was oily and stagnant and smells. So more often, we did not open the window/balcony to the pond. Room was resort style made of wooden planks, relaxing.
We had our first lunch at the hotel restaurant bbq side. Service was slow and we had to rush them many times because there was no crowd and the food still took 45mins to come. Food served was so-so. We went outside and eat for the rest of the meals.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Staying at this hotel is near underwater world within 20min walking distance. Take up their mangrove tour and go along the sea to bats cave, around the island tour, fish farm and crocodile cave. Walking around the village is quite interesting too to see their day to day life.

Great location and Great Service

I spent 3 nights at the Pelangi Resort and it was an awesome experience. The pool was a great place to chill and relax. Service staff were always very warm and prompt to assist us. Location of the hotel was good as it was near to many eateries and the main beach area (Cenang beach) where there were many water sport activities. I would definitely come back here again on my next trip!
Hotel Feature Tip:
Love the concept of the hospitality lounge and the shower room. We were able to rest in a room while waiting to check-in. After we checked out, we had the option of using the shower room to freshen up since we only left on an evening flight

Friendly Service and Good Staff

The resort is quite big. May have quite a distance from the hotel lobby to the room depending on which area is your room located. But good thing is, they have buggy car service that you can call to bring you around the resort. Of course, they bring you to your room with your lugguage in the buggy car when you first check-in. The staff there were all very friendly and helpful. As the resort is quite big, we were not quite sure of the way to get around the resort initially. Staff that pass by always offer to help bring us around or offer us a buggy ride to our desired corner of the resort.
We stayed in the room facing the pool. It was a good choice. The rooms facing the pool and beach are not bad but the rooms facing the lake/pond might not be a good choice. The lake/pond isn't look that appealing. There is a mini farm where they rear some ducks, geeses, chickens, etc. Quite cute. Oh, there are monitor lizards coming out at night but the staff assure us that they are harmless.
The room itself is a bit dark. But since we are just there to relax, it is ok for us.
Overall, it was not bad if you like the environment setting.

the hotel is great for relaxation. there are great swimming pools with water-volleyball court. it's located closed to the airport (abt 10 mins drive), and also, it's located at the middle of the langkawi island, so it just takes abt half an hour to go anywhere (tomn, cable car, etc..)
