- Great location - close to shops [easy walking distance along the beach from chalet 1] - Well appointed and beautifully maintained [recently renovated?] rooms - Friendly staff - Impressive breakfast spread - Pick-up from airport appreciated

- Entertainment facilities not well utilised - boring

The Meritus Pelangi Langkawi is probably one of the best value hotels on Langkawi island, with beautifully designed resort lay-out, well-appointed and excellently rooms. Our stay was made all the more pleasant by the staff who are not only polite and friendly, but also extremely helpful and well informed. In our opinion, the Meritus Pelangi has an extremely under-utilised entertainment facility in the form of the Boathouse Grill and Restaurant. This venue, with its restaurant and bar facilities and an extremely up-beat staff, has the perfect ambiance for live bands/performances/dance clubs. In our humble opinion, we believe it has the potential to become a venue of choice for quality evening entertainment, which the island seems to lack at the moment.

Nightlife Tip : Not much by way of pubs along the strip, so we tended to find ourselves at the Irish pub.

Private Beach, 2 great pools both with swim up bar, Lots of choices for food, Breakfast buffet and evening barbeque was awesome.

Gym not the best,

The Meritus Pelangi is a very relaxed and comfortable resort in a great location. It's only 10 mins from the airport and a short walk to plenty of shops and restaurants outside the resort, however the restaurants within the resort offer a great variety of high quality food. Both the pools are huge and very well maintained and each has a swim up bar. The grassed area between the pools and private beach has ample deck chairs and umbrellas for all the guests. The staff are extremely helpful and will bring free bottled water to your room if you run out and the mini bar prices are actually quite reasonable ( approx $1.50USD for a beer). Highly recommend this resort!!!

Swimming Pool area, swim up bars, plenty of lounges, conveniently located, clean, friendly,Good food, Helpful staff, Safe,Beautiful gardens, Entertainment

The coffeee and tea were overpriced. There needed to be more catering for food allergies with lunches etc.. Beds are a bit hard for a long stay.

We booked a family package. We also were near the Lobby and it was too noisy and they upgraded us to a pool view no charge away from the noise at night. The staff were very friendly, helpful and never rude. The rooms were cleaned and were tidied each day with care. The food was good though a bit pricey in comparison to the town, though the spice market well priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 12 nights and just chilled by the pool and ocean. The rooms are not necessarily what I would expect from a 5 star but are very traditional and comfortable, some I beleive are very nice particularly the ocean facing rooms. they are quite suitable. We will definitely return and would recommend the Meritus.

Restaurant Tip : Walk outside the hotel and turn right and you have a plethora of eating houses.Try Jimmys Cafe across the road, not easy to get into but he would welcome the business as locals are making it difficult for him . Food is good.Right at the end of the main road is a little cafe in a cove. Take your bathers, oasis bar. No shells on beach nice swimming area. Satay great and drinks cheap as..

Great room, great location and nice staff

Bit expensive and the food was not great.

I really enjoyed Langkawi and the Meritus Pelangi was a very pleasant setting. The rooms are clean and well decorated, the pools were really nice and the staff were extremely friendly. Langkawi itself is beautiful with loads to see and do, it is definitely a place that you stay upwards of 4-5 days to relax and see the sights. I advice renting a car or a motorbike to see the other parts of the island. The food in the Meritus was average and there are better restaurants up on the strip, namely the Lighthouse at the end of the beach. All in all the Meritus was a nice base for a nice relaxing vacation and Happy hour (half price drinks between 3 and 7) was also a nice feature for those who want to sip cocktails by the beach.

Restaurant Tip : Champor Champor on teh main strip and teh lighthouse restaurant at the end of teh beach

Pools, breakfast choices, close to lots of food.(the resort is on the better side of the island)

reception are rude, we had bats in our room, the rooms carpets are heavily stained and all furniture is badly scratched.

Not a 5 star hotel. (however maybe 5 star for the island) We were in a lake facing room which i wouldn't get. Get a pool view and/or sea facing if you can afford. Reception was awful and really hampered our arrival. Rooms are getting to a point where they need to be refurnished etc.. Cascade pool was great and the staff there were very friendly. The penne pasta in the spice market (main room) is the best western meal we ate in Malaysia. Other than that the location was good. The hotel has serious issues that they need to fix, like charging RM24 for 1 hour of internet (its 3 down the road) and enforcing dress codes on some people and not on others. Also there was one girl on breakfast that looks like she would rather swallow razorblades than work there, so avoid her at all costs.

Restaurant Tip : Lucky's restaurant was easily the best place to eat.

Good location; excellent food; nice size rooms

reluctance to honor Agoda terms; kids club

We booked this hotel several months before our stay with the family package and a bonus 15% discount. The package included breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids and some other stuffs. When we went to breakfast the first morning, the staff said that we were not on the breakfast list and that it was not included in the room. I had an animated discussion with the manager who also did not want to honor the deal. She said that the rate was too "ridiculous" to include breakfast and the other benefits. I had to walk the manager into the business center, log on and show the Agoda website about the deal. Only then did they honor the package. Beware! Once we dealt with that issue, we were generally happy with the hotel. Food was good. Excellent beach, with other hotels, restaurants and shopping a short distance away. The room size was nice, though there was a bit of a mildew smell at first. The only other thing we did not like was the kids club. It was supposed to be open from 9-9 daily. In reality, there was nobody there until 10am. Our kids enjoyed the club, but some of the people working there were more engaging than others. This could be due to the fact that the hotel was only half occupied. In short, we would stay there again with the same terms and rates but would probably not pay much more. It was almost a 5-star but not quite.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Dev's Jungle Walk was excellent.

The resort was really spacious and attractive. There were two pools which was great, both were really nice and there were plenty of lounges. The staff were really friendly and the spa was amazing!

We had quite a few problems with the television in our room, we called for someone to come and they always came very promptly but problems kept happening which was rather annoying. The spa treatments were lovely but rather expensive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this resort. It was a beautiful resort with plenty of facilities for everyone. All staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The rooms were very nice with a nice outlook and the private balcony was great. We ordered room service while staying and they were very quick delivering our order and the food was always of high quality. The was a good variety of food available at the restaurants aswell. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Quiet, On the beach, Great beach views

The rooms are getting a bit run down and could use an update, The beach has to many sea shells to walk on with out sandals.

This is a great quiet place right on the beach. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit run down and are in need of an update. It is a very large resort with 2 pools and many bars and restrants. The prices for drinks and food are a bit high but with a quick walk down the beach you can find many cheep places to have a drink or a bit to eat.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a car for a few day and get around the island. The best place to rent a car is the airport. But you can get one for the hotel

The hotel was beautiful and right on the beach. The staff were the most friendly and courteous we have ever met on our travels. Walking distance to the main street and an amazing array of restaurants and bars.

Nothing.

The Pelangi Beach Hotel is built in the traditional Malaysian style and has emaculate grounds including swimming pools and lakes but is also right on the beach. The staff were so friendly and the resort was spotless. The food at local restaurants was very varied and also very cheap and within walking distance of the hotel.

Restaurant Tip : The beach bars were great, try Babylon for a very laid back evening with reggae band and fire dancers. The Cactus restaurant serves the best dusk ever!!

Beach on one side of our chalet and the pool on the other.

none

What a paradise!! We stayed in one of these Chalets on stilts, with a balcony, pool and back front location. The room was huge and the bathroom was impressive. We did have one or two little lizards in the room but don't dispare this is actually a good thing as they eat all the other exotic creepy crawlys that you might expect to encounter in a tropical location like this. The hotel pools are great, you have a number of restuarant choices and can organise any tours or diving thrips through the hotel. We only wish we could have stayed longer

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Even if you never dived before, you must try it, the water is just so clear and the setting so beautiful

Well spread out resort. Big chalets. Good choice of restaurants. Good food. Plenty of activities and good facilities. Helpful and pleasant staff. Great location in that you could walk to other restaurants and shops outside of the resort.

Chalets were a bit dated and musty smelling. Could do with a bit of a makeover. Requested a wake up call at 6.30am and received one at 4am instead! Our room was lakeside and was a bit smelly out on the balcony

Our family of 4 stayed at the Meritus Pelangi Resort for 3 nights in October. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We found it a lovely resort with loads of character, great service and good facilities. On the first day my husband and son went on a fishing trip which was booked through the resort. They had a great time and brought back fish for lunch, which was then cooked for them at one of the restaurants for a small charge. My daughter and I had a lovely beach massage at the resort and a wander through the local shops. The next day we hired a car to do some sightseeing. Enjoyed the cable car and nearby waterfalls/rock pools.

Restaurant Tip : Had a great dinner at the Orchid Ria restaurant in the main street outside the resort. Good food at a good price.

It is generally a good hotel with local style wooden houses, tasty and various kind of breakfast choice. The room is comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel is quite good, easy to get a taxi and some restaurants around, also close to airport.

Reception people are not very friendly at the beginning when we check in. They didn't get my flight time so they didn't pick us up from airport.

I would definitely stay at this hotel if I pay a visit to Langkawi again. The location is good, facility is good, local style and variety of food are quite appreciated. The beach is just so so, don't expect too much on it.

Hotel Feature Tip : The Thai style hot pot is good.

Beautiful Resort, lovely room, gradens and two great pools.

Staff could have been a bit more friendly.

Really enjoyed our time here, the room was great, we had a Sea view room, every clean. The two pools were fantastic. The restuarants were very nice and quite reasonably priced. The staff were quite friendly majority of the time but could have been a little more. Normally you would have to say hello first. Location was great, could walk along the beach or go out the front and walk down to the shops and restuarants. There was also a Taxi rank out the front of the hotel so easy to grab a cab if you wanted to go a bit further down town. We hired a car for the day from the hotel which was very competative with the car hire stores in town. Definately worth doing that, we drove ourselves around the Island in a day and just stopped off where we wanted. Would recommend this hotel.

Travel tip : Great friendly resort. Would recommend a stay here if you are heading to Langkawi

big Room, choices of restaurant in the hotel, friendly staffs.

furnitures are a little bit old, need to pay for internet access in the room, the price of the tour packagea at the hotel are too expensive.

In general, we were happy for our stay. We stayed in the deluxe pool view rooms, two rooms were linked to one other, very convenience. The overall services at the hotel were good. All the staffs were very helpful. The hotel location is good - closed to local shops and restaurants (only 10 mins walk), and it is also next to the beach. The buffer breakfast was good, lots of choice, you can try different thing if you stay there for two or three days.
