good food but very expensive. nice gardens and views. friendly staff. Beautiful entrance & lobby area

rooms are poorly maintained & tired. Poor standard of cleanliness and very poor service. The 2 tennis courts are falling apart & are dangerous. The Kids Club is a very small depressing room & a small similarly depressing outdoor area, it takes unsupervised children from age 4+. Most places the age is 18months or 2yrs+. Terrible smell of sewage or stagnant water from around the childrens pool. The pedestrain walking areas are poorly maintained with big holes in the tarmac. You can easily trip. Staff arev friendly but lazy. Making numerous excuses not to deal with your simple request, such as a high chair with straps! Which was right there if the member of staff had even bothered to look! The new year's gala dinner & entertainment was also very poor, and not worth £110 per head we were forced to pay.

This was once a very nice place no doubt! However it is now a tired place with poor tired management. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. The staff are unmotivated and this really affects your enjoyment. The whole place needs a revamp with new management and staff motivation/retraining. I certainly would not classify this place as 5*. I would give it 3* at best. I would not go there again and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a 5* experience

Restaurant Tip : Chenang Beach Road, has lots of shops and restaurents with great food at a fraction of hotel prices. Would have gone there more if the consiege had told us about it!

Nice staff, free breakfast, good room size and hotel environment close to nature

hotel room not well maintained. leaking ceiling, lighting hanging down and rooms have mosquitoes.

Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort is located about 15 mins drive from the airport. The room of the hotel is big and it's like a chalet house. Outside chalet house you can find monkeys (in families) roaming around. The hotel is next to nature beach and walking on the beach is nice. You can also find crabs on the beach. The rooms are scattered apart so getting to and from the lobby require to wait for cart transportation provided. As indicated, the rooms are not very well maintained given it's a 5 stars hotel. In summary, the stay was enjoyable but I won't go back to this hotel if I visit Langkawi again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Cable car trip to mountain top

Nice hotel, friendly staff, and comfortable stay.

luggage delivery - wrong luggage sent to us. The hotel subsequently send us the right ones.

The lobby of the hotel was welcoming. The hotel served welcome drinks which was a good time killer while we wait for our rooms. The hotel prepared the rooms that we requested. The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable and room dining services were prompt. The restaurant served a variety of food, which include japanese, barbeque, western. The dessert served was plentiful. Our only complaint was that the luggage that was sent to us was not ours. The beach was clean but I've seen clearer sea water elsewhere.

Restaurant Tip : There's a small town, which is about five minutes walk out of the hotel. Try the nasi lemak in one of the warung if you want to experience true kampung food.

near to the airport spacious room children facility

slow buggy service need to pay for WIFI access!

Our experience started with some cool welcome drinks. Room quality was superb apart from the slow water pressure. The aircond is cnetralized so we can't adjust the temperature according to our needs. Getting from one place to another is quite troublesome since we need to wait for the buggy. Services was prompt on our first day but it got deteriorated as some of the buggy had mechanical problems during our second and third day. Nevertheless, the room was spacious enough for 2 adults and 3 kids. The children centre was excellent to keep the children occupied. The beach was clean enough for you to have a dip. Overall it was a satisfying experience staying in Sheraton.

Travel tip : You may need to rent a car if you intend to go sightseeing in Langkawi. Cab fares can be pretty expensive since the location from one place to another is quite far.

Lovely position on the beach. Very friendly staff and generally efficient. Plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Plenty of wils life in the locality.

We had to ask for a change of towels etc. twice while we stayed thre.

We really enjoyed out stay at the Sheraton. It's situated in a great position right on teh beach. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The chalets are showing their age a little bit but they are well maintained and are surrounded by beautiful gardens and teh monkeys are a source of amusement. The extensive grounds are immaculate and everything. Delightful swimming pool area overlooking the sea. The restaurants are excellent although a little pricy - especially the wine.

Travel tip : Try the fishing from the beach - you can hire the equipment at the hotel

The rooms - big, spacious The pool - overlooks the sea

The location - Sheraton is about 15 mins away from Chenang beach and that's where most of the action is so you end up having to pay RM18 everytime you have to go there. The breakfast was quite disappinting though - although the spread was large, it wasn't very delicious.

The rooms in Sheraton are truly superb! It comes with a beautiful bath that overlooks into the room and open window and you're even able to enjoy watching your TV from the tub. Comfy covers - very cozy, friendly service. The staff in Sheraton are not only professional but also very friendly and helpful with information about Langkawi - they're more than happy to share their experiences with you. One of the staff we spoke when we first arrived spent a good 15mins or so just chatting and letting us know more about the place and what's so great about it. When we were swimming in the pool, we even had fruit kebabs served to us at the pool by the staff, courtesy of the hotel, nice huh? Although there was a wide spread at the breakfast buffet, the food wasn't tasty. The asian dishes are definitely their forte butthe y can stand to improve on their Western breakfast. Wasn't too happy that their lunch and dinner menus had mostly Western cuisine and not much variety of local cuisine. We had their Aussie burger and it tasted really authentic! Good for those who miss their local food but not so good for those who want to have a taste of the local cuisine e.g. ikan bakar. It'll probably be best if you visited the local town, Chenang Beach for more authentic dishes - try Orchid Ria, the seafood there is simply excellent!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Alun Alun spa at Chenang beach is a great place to go to for a nice pampering session. The staff are so professional and the place is just simply gorgeous! Orchid Ria is the place to go for a cheap (only because it's in RM) and yummy dinner -sambal kangkong, chilli crabs! All fresh and absolutely delicious!

Nice rooms, friendly and competent staff, nice pool area, good food, many monkeys etc around the resort

A lot of construction work going on around the pool area, beach area not spectacular

We went to Langkawi for a relaxing stress-free weekend and that is exactly what we got. The staff were extremely friendly from the moment we arrived and the hotel is only a short 10 minute drive from the airport. The rooms were well appointed and clean and the pool area was small but nice, although there was a lot of construction work going on at the pool while we were there. Not the most amazing beach in the world, but with the pool being there also, overlooking the beach, it was ok. All 3 restaurants that we ate in served good food.

Heaps of space to relax, pool was very good, cocktails excellent. Breakfast is the best thing about this hotel.

Mosquitos plentiful at the bar, bring your repellant.

We stayed here as a break from a work trip in Kuala Lumpur. The Sheraton Lankawi was an excellent place to unwind for a weekend, we wouldve liked a couple of extra days. They went out of their way at checkin to ensure we had 3 adjacent non smoking rooms, which was very important as the resort is huge. We were lucky ot be staying close to the reception, so we could easily walk back and forwards, taking the bus would be a pain. Heaps of bugs at the hotel bar when we were there, very important to have repellent. Location was ok with a private beach and great pool you dont need to leave. Cabs are quite easy to catch anywhere on the island.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do the snorkelling in the marine park. Paying the extra money for a guided tour was worth it, the guides could point out eels, interesting coral and we saw a shark.

Service excellent Food is very good Staff very friendly and very helpful Room is a little cottage very cosy and clean Breakfeast is wonderful Has a Kids Club and playground Easy to take a taxi to the main spots on the island. You can see some monkeys and lizards

Beach is very very small. Beach is only worth going to for one day. This is NOT a beach front hotel. It faces a beach but you cannot get to it except a very small part of it. Pool was being renovated when we were there so we did not use it at all. Has a kids club and playground but more for older kids not kids under 4 years old. Also the kids club and playground needs to be renovated.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton. It really is a nice hotel except that the beach is very very small. The staff was excellent. My 2 1/2 year old son enjoyed staying in the cottage. Being out in Nature. We saw some monkeys and lizards. Even though we did not like the beach at the Sheraton we took a taxi to the public beaches on Lankawi everyday and really enjoyed those beaches. I liked everything about the Sheraton except that it does not have much of a beach.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Cable Cars are wonderful!!!! Feeding the Elephants priceless!

Reasonably modern, nice beaches, plenty of restaurant choices, great buffet breakfast, very friendly staff, quick service of our requirements with one exception (see below)

INTERNET was a major problem for us - hotel is not up with latest technology so we couldn't use our iPhones without going to the hotel lobby & paying for WiFi; internet cafe off lobby was very unreliable & they will only give you 45 mins free, most of which was often taken up by computer & network glitches. Because we have Apple wireless products we could not use in the room where the plugs are the old dial-up type. None of the staff were particularly technology oriented, so generally couldn't help much. POOL badly needs updating - it is Ok but very old, so we used the beach mostly, though would have been nice to have a modern pool - also there is only one pool, so if your room is a long way away, which many of them are.......

The brochures on Langkawi make it look like a paradise, and the island & beaches are much like that, but the state of the economy must be very poor as a lot of the island's facilities look very old & quite run down eg many shops & sites closed, boarded up, many buildings falling apart. This is not a modern resort island at all & reminded us more of Pacific Islands from 30 yrs ago. That said, if your'e going there make sure you stay at a 5 Star place like the Sheraton (there are a few others). Its facilities were generally quite acceptable & the staff are extremely well trained to be at your beck & call & are always very friendly. We would rate the quality of the Hotel itself as 4.5 stars rather than 5 but our room was closer to what we expect. The spa was excellent, and the massages great.

Restaurant Tip : Wine is very expensive at the hotel restaurants, so pick up your duty free at the airport & have your drinks before or after dinner. The Australian steak was nowhere near the quality we get back home, which is a puzzle as they say the best meat gets exported - maybe we were just unlucky that night. By the way, they didn't have the Wagyu even though it was prominent on the menu. If you want good service at the main restaurant (Feast) look out for staff members Zubeiri & Ayu.

Scenery, views, nature, monkeys; Delicious food; Friendly staff

Slow check-in after a long flight

The food was delicious at Feast, buffet breakfast and dinners had a large selection & good quality. Staff at the restaurant and pool/ bar areas were very friendly and hospitable. Captains Grill also had lovely meals, more expensive than Feast. Saw monkeys, squirrels, lizards everyday amongst the villas. Amazing setting being immersed in nature. Definitely worth paying more to stay in a villa - luxurious bed, large room, and sitting on the terrace with sea view was fantastic. Two ladies on desk were rather rude which gave us a disappointing initial impression of the hotel. However, all other staff we dealt with were very friendly. The manager was welcoming & diplomatic, and kindly agreed to give us free breakfasts. Also, check-in was supposed to be at 3pm, yet we waited for our room to be ready until 4pm. Would love to stay again for a week - 4 days was not enough!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't bother with the town's "nightmarkets" if you are going through KL (head to Chinatown - amazing in comparison). There are some very cheap local eateries in the town centre (Kuan) which is 15-20mins away. Most are outdoors, so take your mosquito repellant.. The Ropeway is a 10mins taxi ride from the hotel and worth a trip up if you have the stomach for it. Rather nerve-racking going up to such a massive height, but great views on a clear day.

Fantastic food, and idyllic surroundings

Tour desk

Wonderful stay, really nice resort. Very comfortable villas, spacious and luxurious. Feast restaurant serves delicious buffets with huge selection, and Captain Grill does fabulous steaks. Lovely surroundings, good location being not far from airport and is on a nice beach. Although didn't go into sea due to jellyfish warnings, the pool was a fine substitute. Tour desk didn't have correct information for our diving trip, which meant one in our group didn't come with to do snorkelling when could have. Would recommend to couples or families.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you plan to dive or snorkel, I think it's best to organize yourself. Either before you come over internet, or at the port itself as there are little offices lined up in a row with the competing tours - bound to get a good deal this way.

Breakfast was not included in our package. They could have thrown that in as well!

We were made very comfortable as soon as we checked in. The room was very spacious and we were given one of the great ocean view rooms. The staff was good, the service satisfactory. Breakfast, though not included in our package, was good and had quite a good spread. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone and would most likely stay here as and when I come back!
