Beautifull surroundings. Quit location. Large rooms.
Tired and worn. Is in desperate need of renovation. Runs everyday out of "a wine, a food ect. Not much to do and see outside the hotel. High price compared to product quality. Agoda customers are not offered the best rooms!
For a sun holyday it is a beautiful location. Personal service is good but price/quality is high. Langkawi is a beautifull place but without much quality activity offers.Transfers works well. When ordered through Agoda you are offered the lowest quality rooms!!! Only with extra payment you get a good room. Food is good quality. Restaurant selection good. Pools good. Room cleaning so,so.

Superb service
Great Beach
Large Rooms
Too many buffets
Tired decor
The first thing to mention has to be the beach. The sight of the rocks rising from the water is simply stunning, the photos really don't
do them justice. The sand is a brilliant white and while the water isn’t your Caribbean turquoise, the emerald green just adds to the
beauty.
We stayed in a Cahaya room which was extremely spacious with large bath and walk in rain shower. The flatscreen TV is on the small side for the size of room but as there's not that much to see on it anyway it's no big deal. With the A/C kept on high, the cool rooms are a welcome relief when you come back from a day in the heat and the mini bar is always kept well stocked.
The Tanjung has 2 main pools, the sands and the sunset. The large sands pool with a couple of small paddling areas caters for the whole family, whereas the Sunset pool is for adults only. We usually stay away from the pools because they can be too noisy but the sunset pool being adults only was so peaceful and had such a great view of the beach we stayed there most of the time.
As most have said the All Inclusive option is certainly value for money, it almost pays for itself just in the limitless supply of cold drinks (non alcoholic) by the pool or on the beach.
This leads me onto a subject close to my heart.....the food.
The Tanjung has 3 restaurants, The Sands which is mainly Asian cuisine has a wide variety and the Thai Red Curry was superb. Unfortunately during our 12 night stay there must have been about 7 buffet nights (maybe due to the Chinese New Year). We didn't get to eat there as much as we'd have liked.
Based on previous reviews we were looking forward to sampling the food at the Rhu but felt somewhat let down, most dishes looked good but taste wise were nothing special, certainly not 5 star quality. The Beef tenderloin dish I had looked like a frozen TV dinner. The menu which didn't change for the duration of our stay was about a quarter of the selection shown on their website.

Just back from a week at TRR and have to say we had an enjoyable time overall. The location is idyllic with a magnificient beach and view over to Thailand. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but need a bit of renovation. The staff is very friendly although not always very well trained. Unfortunately the food was horrible, except for breakfast and the children's menu we could not find anything to say waow that was delicious. Even the fine dining restaurant was not up to our expectations. The executive chef needs changing. The excursions were also extremely overpriced so that we used an outside company for 1/3 of the price!

The beautiful beach and attentive staff.
The resort needs a shop that sells postcards, snack foods, drinks etc.
The Tanjung Rhu Resort is the ideal place for people who want to get away from it all and have a relaxing break. The resort is rather isolated on the north of the Island but the beach is probably the best on Langkawi. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped however the setee was a little dated and needed replaced. All the staff that we met were very friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for you. We would recommend the full board package as there is nowhere to go outside the resort to eat and therefore you will have to eat and drink in the resort anyway.
Overall we had a wonderful week and will definitely go back to Tanjung Rhu Resort.
Hotel Feature Tip : Take your own wine as the hotel wine per glass is very expensive.

The location we can forget the daily life, like heaven.
It's far from the down town. Therefore it's quiet.
We'd like to go to this hotel once again. Because it has nice view with sun-set and sea. Also all facilities were satisfied. Spa, Pool, Room, Meal and so on.

Setting, Resort design/layout, staff attitude
None for us (active 50's), remote from nightlife for teenagers and younger adults
We (middle-aged couple) went to Tanjung Rhu for a break from the rush of work and life. We stayed a week, expecting to travel around Langkawi, but we found Tanjung Rhu Resort so relaxing and enjoyable that we didn't leave it and its environs all week, except to go on a few of its local organised outings. Picture-book setting, long beach, clean and safe sea, variety of dining, friendly and attentive staff - it all made the week a delight. The Malaysian climate means that nothing looks brand new when its several years old, which Tanjung Rhu is, but the management takes very good care of the place inside and out. Some way from "action" and probably not a good place for families with teenagers. But we'll be back.
Hotel Feature Tip : No Internet in the rooms, but the wireless facility has a wide coverage area, probably most rooms facing the gardens.

Nice and spacious rooms, really great service, nice pools and beach. Good hotel if you want to be away from everything and just relax.
A little too expensive and a little far out from the city center. Selection for the breakfast buffet can be better. Dining is a little disappointing, but service is great all the way!
Be careful of ants and lizards in the rooms.
This was our first trip to Langkawi and was not disappointed. Even though this is on the pricey side, I highly recommend it to any of you who needs a little pampering and time away. The hotel is very well organized and from the check in and check out process makes you feel special and not like any commercialized hotels. I especially enjoyed their nightly live music. The food is so so, but nevertheless I had a wonderful time and enjoyed it very much. The bed, linen and pillow is so soft and comfortable. We were jokingly saying that we should buy a set from them.
Restaurant Tip : You must try this restaurant - "Wonderland."

Good service, delicious food, beautiful scenery.
The hotel is located on Tanjung Rhu beach, a very quiet but beautiful beach. The hotel staff are warm and helpful. Hotel service is quite good. Hotel also provides shuttle bus service, more convenient to go to the town. It was really a nice time when we had delicious dinner on the sunset beach. We also enjoyed swimming in the nice pool.

- great pool, excellent service and beautiful location
- the bed - it was soooo hard!
We went to the Tanjung Rhu Resort to relax and revive - and it was perfect for doing just that. Days spent by the pool, lots of reading and eating. If you are planning to spend most of your time at the resort (as we did) I would recommend getting the all inclusive package for food and non alcoholic beverages. It works out to be much more economical. We didn't include this when we booked our accommodation but it was offered to us on arrival.

Would highly recommend this hotel. It is a 40 min drive to the airport.
Restaurant Tip : We were always wanting a light lunch, and found the restaurant food very heavy. It wasn't until the 3rd day that we realised food was served by the pool, and that this included lighter snacks like pizza, club sandwiches etc.
