Good hardware, software waiting to be improved

The best resort ever, exquisite environment, very well kept facilities, in the middle of nowhere but self-containing.
Would be great if staffs could be more sensitive with door knocking, especially when we forgot to put up the do not disturb sign.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
A lot cheaper to call for a taxi, then to arrange transport with the resort drivers.

Great destination hotel for those who desire peace and isolation. However, remoteness means that exploration of other parts of the island takes some coordination and extra cost. Food quality is excellent but options are limited and priced slightly beyond what would be reasonable for this class of hotel. For more dining options walk over to neighbouring Andaman, which has cross-signing privileges with Datai.
Due to the jungle location, humidity is very high and if airconditioning is not set to a very chilly level, room begins to "sweat" and moisture appears on all surfaces.

The setting of the hotel smack in the middle of an ancient rainforest without any sacrifice of luxurious comfort or disruption of the environment is a rare achievement. Birds and animals of many kinds are everywhere,
obviously unafraid of people.While many of the activities on offer require short trips to other parts of the island this is not really inconvenient as the island is not large.

We stayed for 3 nights and 2 days and thoroughly enjoyed the Datai. From the moment we arrived everything was taken care of. It is the little things the Datai does well. Wecloming juices on arrivals and also scented towels to help you relax after a long trip to get there.
The food options were varied and high quality and the restaurants did not feel like "hotel cafes" at all.
The resort itself is nestled into the natural surrounds and makes you feel like there is no one else around apart from the birds and trees - oh and the staff if you need a beer or some extra sun screen.
We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to all our friends. We will be back again without the kids of course.
Hotel Feature Tip:
It would have been good to get more details about the resort and where things were eg golf course, how far the village was, etc upon arrival.

Stayed at CdM May 2010. The location, ambience and food are outstanding. Especially the breakfast menue has lots of options which sets it apart from the common buffets at other hotels. Also the dinner menue including the 2 daily specials offer great value for money.
If you are looking for a nice and quite location but being close to the "vibe" of Langkawi the CdM should be your choice.

boat trip incl. eagle feeding
consider spending one night at the Datai Hotel
Sunset cocktail at the Four Seasons Resort is a MUST
If you are looking for nightlife - sorry wrong island!

Fabulous resort
The setting in the rainforest with a beautiful beach 10 minutes walk away.Wonderful staff.Adults only pool is fabulous if you are tired and need peace.Great choice of restaurants.Heavenly beds.Beautiful rooms.

We have just stayed at the Datai for the 3rd time. It provides an amazing combination of rainforest, beach and pool areas. It always seems so peaceful even when the hotel is full. There are wonderful double rooms and also villas hidden away in the forest...some have their own pools. You can get away from people completely or be amongst them.The best 5 star resort we have stayed at in Malaysia...and we have stayed at the top 6 on both coasts.

Relax in luxury.
The location and natural surroundings are fantastic..rainforest with monkeys, golden sands and tranquil sea.
The Staff are impeccable in their service & attitude with nothing too much trouble.

I took my wife for a romantic weekend on the recommendation of friends and the Datai doesn't disappoint in any area. The staff are truly up there with the best staff I have ever experienced from any hotels across Europe & Asia (Asia are generally streets ahead of Europe in this regard).
Patrons are generally a little older than other hotels but I suppose that'll be down to the cost of the Datai. I'd go back tomorrow.
