Excellent location, beautiful hotel in the middle of a rainforest, with a fantastic seaview, surrounded by nature and animals in their habitats. Service is excellent - friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and beds are huge and comfortable.
food in the beach club is a tad below average. rooms are very 5 star hotel standard but can be improved with little touches to make the room warmer.
Chanced upon a picture of the Datai and decided I have to go there.
The Datai is fantastic experience overall - in the middle of rainforest, with fantastic sea views, fresh crisp forest air and plenty of chances to spot monkeys, hornbills and a few exotic lizards.
There are huge swimming pools (one for adult only, and another family friendly, pretty good dvd library, spa is very good as well...
The beach club is the main restaurant that is open for all day dining, I think there are definitely rooms for improvement there.. I didn't have chance to try the Thai restaurant, but I did try the Gulai House, very good Malay and Indian restaurant in a kampong setting, in the middle of the forest.. very unique experience and highly recommended.
The Datai is located about 25mins drive from the airport, and it is a bit far from everything outside the hotel, so would suggest to rent a car for easier access outside.
Datai's published rates are pretty steep (starting at about 700usd, I think it's because unlike other hotels, they do not try to cram too much stuff in a small area, it's more like a huge compound for you to explore), it's great that we got good rates from agoda, this is definitely a great experience and I would go to Datai again, especially at agoda's prices.
Restaurant Tip : The Gulai House in the Datai

attentive staff
rooms
jungle setting
construction going on while staying there
The Datai is an excellent place to stay if you are looking to stay at a top notch resort. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Basically everything we asked for, they provided. If you want something within reason, they will accommodate. The rooms were beautifully appointed, and the beds were very comfortable. The pillows were not very supportive, but it didn't detract from a good night sleep.
Walking among the resort, and even from your room, you can see monkeys, hornbills and other wildlife amidst the hotel's jungle setting, which is a real treat.
The food at the Datai was good. There are a number of restaurants with different cuisines, and the food ranges from passable to very good. One issue we had was with the serving of alcoholic drinks. They are very careful to give you a very specific amount of alcohol, and it is often not enough for the drink. Make sure to ask the bartender to give you a drink with the proper amount of alcohol.
The beach in front of the Datai is very nice. Careful not to wander over to the Andaman at the beach. Their beachfront is dirtier and the water is a lot more murky.Plus, there are tons more kids over there. If you want a better beach, and less noise, stay in front of the Datai.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Definitely go see the cable car. It is worth it. Plus, we did a mangrove boat tour which was quite nice as well, but it was quite pricey (about RM 220 per person or USD$65).

The hotel itself is very comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe room and the bed, amenities, bathroom are all spacious and comfortable.
unfortunately there was construction going on at the pool by the lobby area, also the dining room was closed, so it was a bit noisey and we didn't feel like hanging out in that area.
This is probably the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. The location is gorgeous, nestled in the middle of the rain forest, on a beautiful beach and far away from any other civilization. It's a place you can completely relax and "get away from it all". We were there for two nights (and spent the other 5 nights somewhere else on the island) and found that length perfect. We maybe could have stayed one more, but then we would have had to have done a day trip out of the resort since. The way the hotel has been built in the forest and with nature is amazing. You'll see all sorts of flora and fauna. Staff are very polite, nice and accomodating, you will really feel special here. Only debate we had was if it is really worth the high price tag... still not sure, but we definitely don't regret staying there as it was an amazing experience.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : definitely go on one of the morning and/or evening nature walks which are complementary. You learn a lot and see amazing things!

Excellent service
Their employee is so friendly
Silence and the beauty
Far from any service and the City and Airport
There are some monkeys at the afternoon time walking around.
Scary at night
Very expensive
The foos supplied is not good
It is beautiful place with nice sights at the middle of jungle. I appreciate their level of service and welcoming me. Their employees are proficiently and very friendly.
Their beach is the best at langkawi.
However, the hotel is so far from the city and the airport and it needs about 40 min to reach them.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Their beach and their design

The room was very nice and very very comfortable, beautiful view of the rain forest and the sea. Restaurants are very nice and the staff very friendly
No real weaknessess spotted.
We first stayed at Andaman next door before we moved for few days of bliss to the datai. As Datai lot more expensive we expected double value at datai and that expectation was met. Andaman was great but datai was fantastic. The rooms are definitely more than twice nice than nice Andaman room and the restaurants are also twice as nice as the nice andaman. We can recommend booking through Agoda we had a good deal for room including breakfast. We were concerned about possible location of room. It was close to bar. However the live music from bar was not loud and was actually quite nice.
Travel tip : Room 110 brilliant view of sea and rainforest. Close to bar

If you want to feel pampered and totally relaxed this is the hotel and if you can get past the cost of the extra's you will totally enjoy your stay
For the price you pay to stay there I would have expected breakfast to be included.
This hotel is amazing and definataly warrants the gasp everyone gives you when you say you are staying at the Datai. The rooms are setting up lovely with great furnishings. The staff are so servicing and are perfect at not interrupting your relaxing stay but attentive enough so that you never have to look for them. We only tried one of the restaurants but was overwhelmed with the amount and quality of the food. We were expecting the hotel to be a bit smaller than it was, so at first we were a little worried it would have that hotel feel, but we were completely wrong, we felt like it was us and only a handful of guests staying there. It is in a secluded location so be prepared to have your meals in the hotel, this is not as cheap as many other places but hey you are on holiday treat yourself you wont be dissapointed!!!
Restaurant Tip : We ordered the room service breakfast of eggs one morning expecting just to get eggs but was happily suprised with lots of extras so we had no need to order anything else. Also located about a 20 minute drive away is a great bakery the Loaf we bought some fresh made rolls and danish's and that did us for lunch one day.

The hotel can slowly reduce the child.
Point which may be one disadvantage in particular for young people and to give you one, the hotel is not everyone can enjoy the Waiwaimarinsupotsu.
Adult resort hotel that is positive. Private beach, pool, etc. are not available must be at least 16 years old, who enjoy a quiet time to really think very preferred.
Nightlife Tip : At night, the stars seen from the beach was beautiful Nantomo. Sunny but at night it went to sea Please come.

Beautiful facility in the middle of the jungle and still on Strand.Sehr Attentive staff, but not intrusive acts.
There are two Pools.Einer is right on the main house and is not accessible to children (very quiet). The second pool is near the beach and sometimes very loud, because these families with children used wird.Das Hotel and the adjoining Andaman Resort are the only two houses in Datai Bay, is just around the jungle and the sea.
This beautiful hotel is in all areas of very generous and luxurious eingerichtet.Zwar everything has its price, but it is also worth every euro.
Hotel Feature Tip : Recommended for travelers who are something special and want to enjoy rest and relaxation suchen.Die island is very good with a taxi ride erkunden.Eine with the CabelCar or visit the waterfalls are very worth seeing. We would always book this hotel.
