Waste of time and money
I can't see any selling points, except you have booked everything in a package (all inclusive).

You have to plan a total travel time to the resort of 5 - 6 hours from Kuching. The resort is quite run down (3-star standard). Everything is over-prices (with 5 star pricing). Can't do anything there, without paying a high price, even the jungle track around the resort is not possible to use for free. For us it was a total waste of time (3 days) and money. I would recommend everybody: Leave out this place and use the days for other activities in Kuching and surrounding.
One positive commend is, that the staff has tried to make everything as convenient and plaesant for the guests as possible.

We enjoyed 4 nights at this hotel with 2 of our adult children. It is in an isolated location and takes 5 hours to reach from Kuching. The hotel needs some repair work. However, we enjoyed the isolation, the pool area was fun, the visit to a local longhouse and waterfall great. The rooms were very comfortable and we had a great stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The visit to the local longhouse is a must. The waterfall is small but the swim refreshing and the lunch cooked in bamboo enjoyable. take mosquito repellent and wear at all times. Except the fact this is in an isolated location and the food is expensive and the hotel in some need of repair.

nice getaway. quiet and peaceful stay. friendly staff. a little inefficient in communication.
be prepared to do absolutely nothing. Rooms are nice. Food is passable at best. it's like 'ok, we have to eat for energy'.
Longhouse and Waterfall trips organised by hotel is a waste of time.
take note to travel 6 - 8 hours one way from Kuching. This is the biggest downside.
and take note of the monsoon end Dec.

Lovely Relaxing Resort

Batang Ai is an ideal resort to rest and relax. You should understand that the resort is pretty much in the middle of nowhere - a good 4 hours drive from Kuching, but maybe that's part of the appeal. The resort is accessed by ferry across the lake so you'll need to check with the hotel for ferry times. We caught the 12.30. The resort is very relaxing with a great pool. The rooms are extremely comfortable, especially considering the remoteness, with very good air-conditioning, hot showers and comfortable beds. Everything you'd expect for 5-star quality - the only thing that would remind you of the remote location is the poor TV reception - quite understanable. One thing to note is that drink prices are quite expensive - small cans of beer at RM25 ($10) make cocktails the best value for money at around the same price, though the hotel don;t seem to mind of you bring some beer with you.

We would like to thank Batang Ai Longhouse Hilton Resort for one of the best vacations we've had in a while.
My husband and I, plus 2 of our friends, really loved the hospitality of the hotel staff and was quite surprised that the whole place wasn't anything like the negative things other visitors had mentioned in other travel websites. Not only was the hotel room clean and spacious, the facilities were well-maintained but it still left us with enough authentic features of a longhouse.
The meals, whether the buffet or the a la carte dishes, were delicious and kept up with the Hilton standards. We chose to go on the longhouse visit and was once again surprised by how well the activity was organised, and how welcoming and warm the hosts at the longhouse were, so much so, we spent 5 hours there with them, 3 hours beyond the usual visit.
Once again, thank you, Batang Ai Longhouse Hilton Resort staff for making our trip so memorable.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you're going to pay the real longhouse a visit, you may want to consider what I'm about to say. Many travel websites and tour guides will tell you to bring something up for the longhouse residents.

the place is nice. fresh air. nice set up in the middle of the lake. good view of water and forests. good place to get away. but the food is bad and expensive. no sausage even for breakfast. dinner is just limited choice. not up to the 5 star hilton standard. no other place to eat. limited choice and option for food. might suggest to bring own food.
