Amazing viewmofmthe Straits

this was my second hotel in malacca. i switched for my last 3 days so that i could be by the sea. it was worth the hassle. the breeze makes it so pleasant to sit by the pool.
my room had a straits view and had a
arge window with an easy chair positioned for you to sit and watch the world go by on the water.
i loved it, couldn't really find any faults. very good value for money.
Travel tip:
Have lunch at the Dutch Cafe by the river and watch out for the resident monitor lizard. He swims past frequently and is at least 4 ft in length.

Nice hotel

Stay for one night. The room is standard but bright. Facing the sea, very beautiful. The bathroom ok. The breakfast normal. The bed was very comfortable. The room is very clean. The jetty near the hotel was good for chill. The pool view is very pretty. The ambiance of the spa is very relaxing.

We love the view of the sea from the room. The staff are friendly and the complimentary shuttle service to Makota Parade is very convenient.

Arrived at the hotel at 5.30pm after my journey down from Cameron. Upon checking in, the reception was apologetic that all the deluxe room (which I had booked) were full. The surprise was that she upgraded us to the Club Room instead. It was a very nice touch. Kudos to the hotel and staff. The room had a commanding view of the straits of Malacca and upon entering the room, we were greeted with a fragrant smell from a special air freshener. My wife couldn't helped but taook a couple of pictures of the freshener and wanted to purchase some for our own home. Breakfast was wonderful. The spread was quite eye-boggling that we had a hard time deciding what to eat. Be it local, chinese, indian, malay, continental fare. You named it, they have it. Location-wise, it couldn't have been closer to the heart of the shopping belt which is Makota Parade and the new Pahlawan shopping mall. Unfortunately, we arrived on Wednesday and majority of the Jonker Street night market was closed. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed our stay tremendously due to the proximity to the shopping mall and friendly hotel staff. Unfortunately, there was no free wifi anywhere. You have to pay for it if you wish to have wifi in room. I hope the hotel can offer complimentary wifi services in the rooms in future.
Shopping Tip:
Stay in this hotel if you love shopping. It's only a short hop across a major road to Makota Parade and Pahlawan Mall.

we booked for 2 nights and arrived at holiday inn at 12 midnight and am surprised to be given a free upgrade to executive room. love the high floor room with good view.
plus:
good location that is close to the 2 malls and near to many historical attractions.
good spread of breakfast and love the nasi lemak and rendang.
minus:
the sound isolation in the room could be better, we were woken up a few times by the closing and opening of doors of the guests next door.
got woken up at 6am by the room service staff asking if we have any garment for pressing eventhough we had placed the 'do not disturb" sign at the door.
our stay was during the euro period and we could feel the bass from the entertainment outlet in our room till ard 2am.
overall:
pleasant stay experience, value for money.

booked 3 rooms for family of 6 adults and 1 children for a 3d2n stay.check-in was smooth and rooms were clean with a nice view of the sea but seems like lots of land reclamation going on.hotel within walking distance to shopping area and tourist attractions.staff were polite and served with a smile. overall, was a comfortable and wonderful stay.
