Nice resort grounds, pool could be cleaner
Wooden architecture, man made waterfall, lush greenary
7.3
we stayed for two nights at philea resort & spa when we were at malacca in mid june 2012. we were attracted by resort's nice website and its proximity to the highway. in fact, its the first malacca hotel you'll arrive at if you're driving in from singapore.
the resort grounds looked very nice, with the wooden architecture (actual place looked exactly like the website), man made waterfalls, lush greenary and all. but there were some stuff that irked me, like how they charge guests for extra bottles of drinking water, extra towel in the room, extra blanket etc.
the pool is picture-pretty since its set against the man made waterfalls ... but i found it a tad too dirty for my liking ... as in the water for the adult pool was quite unclear underwater (seen through my pair of goggles). can't tell for the wading pool due to the colour of the rocks. i also had an issue with the ants in the room trying to attack our children's milk powder.
we tried the steamboat dinner at the hotel. it was cheap and good. i especially liked the desert platter that they served!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Butterfly and reptile park is adjacent to the hotel

Nice Resort
Great environment & staff
6.7
we arrived to smiling faces of the resort's staff. checking in was a breeze and we found ourselves on the buggy, zipping to our room in no time. as we were there on a weekday, it was not as crowded, my kids had a great time at the resort's pool. all was great there, except for the availablility of eating places in the resort, we had to drive out of the resort for meals. on the whole, my family had a good and relaxing time there.

Beautiful Resort...
Like the pool with nice man-made water falls.
7.7
everything there are new and clean... staff are great. room are clean and equipped. it comes with 2 standard pillow plus 2 super big cushion. not much choice of food available. a drive down to the town will be a better choice.
Travel tip:
The resort is just beside the toll, if you miss the left turn you will have to travel a long way before you can make a u-turn.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile
Beautiful resort with forest ambience
8.3
nice room with very luxury bathroom. Guests were well taken care of. Minor amenities were well provided such as batik slippers, shaving kit, tooth brush etc. Swimming pool was very welcoming with nearby man made huge waterfall, really make our swim invigorating and refreshed. The interior of the room were very comfortable and quite with surrounding forest experience making our sleep very relaxing and deep.
Hotel Feature Tip:
You should make use of all of the hotel facilities provided and spend the whole day in the resort to experience it to the fullest.

Real resort feel
Great surrounding environment that gives the place a real feeling of retreat, away from the busy-ness of city life.
7.3
Comfortable rooms in woody "chalets" with nice touches of care and service, including toilet with bidet spray :)
Buggy service throughout the resort compound was very useful.
We took the room at first level, and could hear the footsteps on the wooden floors in the upstairs room. But because we took the whole chalet and these were my children, niece and nephews upstairs, it didn't matter so much.
More could and should be done about the flies at the dining area.

Room is unique and comfortable but a bit small. Love the set up of the whole resort. It makes me feel so relaxing. F&B need a lot more improvement. Overall is good!

Five-star boutique hotel with distinctly European architecture, beautifully appointed rooms, attentive and friendly service are just some of the hallmarks of Hotel Gran Mahakam.
Located at the crossroads of the business and commercial district, in the heart of the widely popular South Jakarta area where major shopping malls, restaurant, and other entertainment abound a 35 minutes drive from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
