Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Lovely freindly old hotel past its grandeous prime
Enormous rooms, great entrance hall, friendly staff, excellent food
9.7
We arrived at the hotel exhausted after a 7 hour coach trip from Singapore stuck in torrential rain in a jam. The receptionist kindly asked us to sit at the bar and have a free cocktail, before we went up to our enormous room with the most comfortable bed ever. We ate a special fabulous Chinese New Year buffet in the lobby restaurant, which was accompanied by an incredibly expensive bottle of white wine. We deserved it! The hotel was in a good location, within walking distance of all the main attractions. Unfortunately almost everything was closed throughout our 2 day stay due to the Chinese New Year celebrations. We don't recommend this time of year.

Faded Glory
It provides a great view over the narrow streets making navigation easy. Reasonable sized rooms and friendly service.
6.7
In years past it was probably a classy hotel. Now it really needs the promised multi-million dollar makeover. The rooms and fittings are very tired, and the lack of maintenance obvious with peeling wallpaper, rusty door frames and stained paintwork. However the location is convenient, with the old town just a few minutes walk away through fascinating streets. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the ground floor restaurant lays out a great lunch.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take the nearest bridge over the river and plunge into the busy heart of Melaka past the mosques and through the crowded streets to Jonkers Street. Try the asam laksa or any of the other elicious noodle dishes at one of the busy hole in the wall restaurants or street stalls. Soak up some history in Heering St and visit the Nyonya House and the restored Dutch era shop.

Fabulous service
The staff were very friendly and any requests we had were dealt with immediately.

The hotel is a little dated, but is undergoing an upgrade. We had booked a bargain double room, but on check-in we were ugraded to a junior suite! Lovely view of the sunset over the city and close enough to to walk to all the tourist attractions.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Lovely pool and gym with fitness classes available.

Just an OK hotel
Always service with a smile
6.3
I still remember back in the days when the hotel was the only good hotel in Malacca, that was in back in the late 80s/early 90s. Now it has past its glory days, but tries to be decent.
the room is clean but could be cleaner. There was a distinct smoke smell as you walk into the room although we were on the non-smoking floor (19th).
The bathroom was big but the whole thing is old and tired.
It is unfortunate that they charge car park although you are a guest of the hotel.
If you really need to stay in the hotel then its a OK hotel, but if you're looking for better hotels in Melaka there is the Equatorial (good) or the Holiday inn (better)! Also as guest of Equatorial, there is no car park charges!

Lovely hotel and service with a smile

Very pleased with the hotel staffs - friendly and accommodating. The location is strategically in the middle of the Melaka City and convenient to move around, and local food can be easily found nearby. Only the trishaws were not seen anywhere nearby and was informed that they charge quite expensive for the service to come over al the way from A'Famosa (approximately 1km away).
However food served by the hotel is not so great.
Overall it was a joyful trip and planning to revisit.

Renewed hotel with excellent service

This hotel was previously known as the Renaissance hotel.
Now is under the Wyndham flag as has been carefully renewed.
From the hotel is very easy to access the best spots in the city, like the museum, the church and Yonker street.
Arriving to the hotel is straight forward because it is located at the beginning of the Main Street Jalan Munshi Abdullah.
Also taking a river cruise is at hand.
The parking is good and included in the price. There is also complimentary wifi in the rooms.
The breakfast is superb with fresh juices and a variety of local and foreign delicacies.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Yonker street is my favorite spot for antiques hunting and for a good pizza and beer.
