Good Location

Staff not customer orientated No bedroom slipper No bathrobe

We took close to 20 min to check in because there was only 1 staff at the check in counter, While they had 2 staff at the check out counter doing nothing. When I approached them, they just redirected me back to check in counter. Give me 2 single beds when I request for 1 double bed. Call reception but they made no effort to change room for us. Also the bus service frequency to Jonker street is every 2 hours, I have stayed at other hotels where buses are every 15~30 min.

1) location

1) check in was extremely inefficient for a high class hotel 2) checkin staff made mistakes about rooms arangements:said that 2 rooms were connecting, it was only when we asked about the other rooms that she said that the 2 rooms given were not connecting.did not bother informing us until we asked about other issues. 3) breakfast was very dissapointing - you can actually see flies hovering around the food! 4) no toothbrushes or bathroom slippers provided? had to request for them ourselves

Very boring hotel, but clean and ok location.

Not a particularly inspiring experience, but clean and did the job - I got a couple of good nights sleep.

Clean, within walking distance to Malacca cruise & some other tourist spot, big swimming pool, friendly staff at restaurant.

Variety of food during breakfast should be more, and the taste also needs improvement.

The hotel can be reached (from Melaka Sentral) by taxi (RM 15) or Panorama Malacca bus (RM 1) but you have to be patient while waiting for the bus. I enjoy my stay at Renaissance, I ordered Deluxe Room, but because all were fully booked, they gave us Junior Suite Room, what a pleasant surprise. You can also walk along the river (around 15 minutes) to reach the deck, from there you can take the boat to go around the river.

Restaurant Tip : Near the hotel, you can find Muslim food court, the taste were very nice. The price also cheap.

many small eateries and convenience stalls. tan kim hock is a 2 mins walk and melaka's famous chicken rice balls restaurant is 1 min away. good view of the melaka river. good ambience

quite far from jonker's walk ( tourist hot spot). hotel could provide feeder bus service to jonker's walk

Our family booked 2 rooms and it has a panoramic view of melaka. We enjoyed the proximity of the hotel to many small and quaint shops. The breakfast spread was lacking in variety and quality. The service staff was not very friendly. I recommend that guest go to nearby eateries within the hotel vicinity to try out their local fare like fried kueh teow, chicken rice balls and malaysia coffee! On the whole it was a pleasant stay.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : taking the trishaw to the jonker's walk in the evening. it is too hot in the day time.

Comfortable big rooms Good view on high floors Easy to find Friendly staff

A bit old, can do more in general maintenance Poolside bar no where to be found

Unlike what I read from earlier reviews on this website, we had no problem with the check in/out process. We had a deluxe room and its big size was a pleasant welcoming sign after a few hours drive from Singapore. The hotel staffs are generally friendly. One thing I observed was that the staff working by the swimming pool really cared. They always kept an eye on the children insides the pool (which had a 9ft deep end). The location is central and easily reachable. One can drive out from the hotel without being caught in the traffic like those hotels around the Christchurch or Carefoure area. I recommend this hotel.

The room is clean and the bed is really comfortable. Plus, from the hotel, I could see the Eye of Malacca. The hotel's breakfast is pretty decent too.

I should think the hotel staff at the lobby can be abit more heartwarming. The shuttle bus service timing can also be improved with higher frequency.

Overall, it was a comfortable stay. The room is spacious and clean. The hotel room levels are mainly non-smoking places. Despite the hotel is not located that near to the shopping malls, you will not have any difficulty finding food nearby. There is also a 24hrs convenient shop just across the road. The hotel staff are generally helpful.

Restaurant Tip : There is a Famosa Chicken Rice Balls outlet just few minutes walk from the hotel.

I like the lobby and reading lodge is very quiet and nice

The location isn't that perfect, about 15-20 minutes walking distance from center, which can be quite scary walking at night time.

I like the staff's enthusiam and hospitality, they were really trying their best to help you out, but not so clear about hotel charges, such as I consulted about making a local telephone call using the phone in reception, instead of telling me the rate, she connected me through straightaway, which cost me about 5.5 rm/min.

Friendly staff, fair for what you are paying for

Need to pay for parking, TV remote control not working (battery leaking inside)

Hotel staff are friendly. The room was decent (clean but a bit old), not your typically five star hotel but is fair for what you are paying for. However, the parking is dark and you need to pay for your own parking. No major complains.

The room and deco is nice and clean.

service slow

Our check-in took the staff quit some time (more then an hour) to confirm a room for us. After we went for our lunch they are still unable to confirm the room availability. But since we reach before the check in time (We reach there around 1 pm and the check in time is 3pm) I can't really complain much on the service but would like to see improvement on this area as other hotel is able to provide me a room way before the check in time. Although service is slow but staff there are friendly. The room is nice and clean.

The room we stayed in is big and spacious. Quite clean and well kept.

The toilet definitely needs some refurbishment.

The front desk cashier is not well trained. We queued for at least 15 minutes for her to check in the customer in front of us. However, when it was our turn, she told us blankly that we have queued at the wrong queue. My wife tried to explain that there were not sign boards to indicate which cashier to go to but she just stared at her blankly and told her to join the other queue at another cashier. To start with, there are no indications of which cashier is for checking in and which for checking out. My wife was upset and fortunately, another staff came to assist us and quickly settle the checking out formalities for us instead of making us re-queue. I think the hotel needs to place prominent sign boards at the cashier if they intend to differentiate the roles of their cashiers.

Huge room, distance walk to historic sites.

Not too professional service at front desk.

I was going to Malacca to attend a relative wedding lunch. Set off from Singapore at about 6am. After 3+ hours drive, arrived in Malacca. Was tired and sleepy. Decided to have breakfast at a nearby coffee shop before check-in. When I was checking in at 10+am, I was told that all the Executive Deluxe rooms was occupied and I have to wait till 2pm. I told the front desk staff that I need to attend a wedding lunch at 12.30pm. Ask whether is there a vacant Deluxe room which they can let me wash up first. They simply said that they can't do that. To begin with, Agoda only offer Executive Deluxe room when I do my booking online. If there's a choice of Deluxe room (which is cheaper), I'll probably go for it. In the end, my wife and I have to rest at the lobby sofa for 1 1/2 hr before a room is available. We didn't have a chance to shower and our precious nap. After the lunch, we headed back to hotel and sleep the whole afternoon. Never get a chance for sightsee and check out the next day....another 3 hrs drive back to Singapore.

Restaurant Tip : Beside the hotel, it's Malacca famous Chicken Rice Ball restuarant. Across the junction, there's a Old Town Cafe.

Beautiful service and very nice hotel, food was great

We stayed in room 2321 which is right below the club lounge. All morning and afternoon you can hear people dragging their chairs in and out of their tables. We had an ajoining door between our room and another room. The door is very thin and we could hear people loadly partying until 3 in the morning.

The Renaissance Hotel in Melaka is one of the best in town, the service was great and the food at the Ollio resturant was fantastic. The gym is very well set out and the service from the staff was great. The pool and the day spa are excellent. We spent a couple of hours in the day spa and it was well priced and very rewarding.

Shopping Tip : Jonker street is only a 10-12 minute walk from the hotel, good shopping and great local food and plenty of cold beer

The bed

Definitely not a 5 star hotel and not worth the amount paid for the rooms. Guests are also required to pay RM3 per stay for parking when it's a 5 star hotel, which is absolutely ridiculous!

I don't think the hotel is worth the amount I paid for. The hotel is also rather old and 1 of the rooms we booked had a really bad musty smell in it that wouldn't go away even after we asked housekeeping to clean and spray the room with air freshener.

Restaurant Tip : Good food within walking distance of the hotel
