Had a great time with my family
Few hundreds foot steps to beach, Pool was awesome for kids play, Great spot for stop-by to catch Mersing Jetty (Ferry) next day
6.7
Our Stay was just a night stay and we arrived late (10PM), It was hard to find the location of this resort but the people outside guided us to right direction and arrived without much hassel. Need More sign boards to guide visitors to the resort. Need more lighting at night time because the location is little remote and is so dark.

Lovely location pity about the room, food and staf
Only the location on edge of beach
3.3
Rooms were grubby and poorly maintained. Fridge was ancient and dirty. Nearest town is easily 12km away and has only 1 decent food source. Management really needs to spend some money on facilities and staff training

Overprised backpacker place - without backpackers
3
The Place has the looks and feel of a genuine backpacker paradise; slightly run down, good beach, nice lounges, lot's of character.
However the clientele is quite different, mainly local families with lot's of kids doing all the cooking on their balconies. As a result there is Little in terms of service, food, beer and good athmosphere. You see traces of a better past, bbq pits, beer ads, speakers, lights etc. but all seems to be in disrepair.

I stayed in room SUP5. The water heater was not working. For some reason they couldent fix it. The air-con remote control was not functioning too. The ceiling fan has no speed control. The beach was not pleasant for swimming because the water was not clear and the wave carry all the sand to shore.

Relaxing place with nice atmosphere
cosy room, big area, nice pool, private beach
7
-for people who want to spend a calm, relaxing time
-taxi from mersing to resort 15min ride
-the room is cosy and kampung-style.. but the facilities are quite old..they really should renew
-tv on the room has just 2 malay programs, no english tv
-no wifi on the room, just at the reception
-food was good
-the pool is clean and spacious
all in all: invest a bit in the room and it will be a perfect place!

entry-level resort in a secluded area
7.3
it's more or less a resort as commonly described. it has a good position and a great view (i think it's the best sleeping alternative in the neighborhood, compared to the mersing in-town hotels). there are several bungalows (some of them being newer) and a main building with 1 floor. unfortunately we went in a rainy period and the feeling was desolating. everything was wet and the bungalows were humid and smelly. we wanted to change our reservation for the newer ones (which were more expensive) and they asked us to pay the difference which i found very normal. but when we finally opted for a regular room on the upper floor of the main building (which was at least dry, but more cheaper) they were not happy with returning the money. at the end they offered us 2 meals instead of the price difference, which i also found to be ok as the food was good.
the rooms are not in the best condition and the furniture is quite old. they are relatively clean. the staff were very friendly and helpful. from the balcony you have a great view but unfortunately you can't take a swim in the sea as the water is muddy, due to the river that is flowing nearby. i think the better option is to take the ferry from mersing to the closest islands. we didn't as it was raining all over the clock and there was no available schedule. for an alternative you have a small pool in the garden. as i think it's common for malaysia, you can drive and park the car in front of your bungalow. although the conditions were far from being the best the overall experience was very interesting as we could see a lot of wild monkeys in the trees, exotic birds flying by and a lot of lizzards from the smaller ones to a big 1.5 m one. it was a safari-like experience.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
best alternative in the greater Mersing area for a short or weekend trip, for people with no great comfort expectations

Extremely quiet place when out of seson
The room was nice, pool as well, staff very friendly
5
Fishing Bay Resort is located 25 MR from Mersing out in nowhere. When out of season (during monsoon season) there is nothing to do except take a swim in the pool or walk around the point at low tide. The only restaurant is the one on the premise, which only serves local food and very limiited - have to order fish the day before - The breakfast was below standard. If it is only a stopover going to Tioman, I would recommend a small new hotel in Mersing :Sikaza or something just close to the jetty.

Horrible enviroment but recetionist very friendly
2.3
The Superior room was horrible that I need to upgrade to a deluxe room and I needed to top up for two nights.
The whole field was flooded that we had to walk to our room .Imagine our shoes were soaked before entering the room.
The water heater was not giving hot water and the water pressure was very low that they provide us with a pail to collect the water for bathing.Spider webs everywhere . Lizard crawling at the wall and my wife is so frightened to encounter lizard and insects.THe television without remote and only provide 3 local programmes .Wifi not working at the room because of not powerful model fixed as admitted at the front office. In my conclusion please do not reccoment to stay .
Cheers
Travel tip:
There are better newer resorts nearby at Air Papan

Good location with a scenic view
7
I liked the location as this was my second visit and the food quality has improved, but was quiet disappointed that we did not have the privacy of the beach front units, because the seashores within the hotel were occupied by the locals who were not residing in the hotel!!
Nightlife Tip:
Perfect for couples/ family
