An idyllic, romantic stay for an Anniversary treat
Situation, staff and relaxing atmosphere.
9.3
The hotel made a special effort to recognise our 40th wedding anniversary. The army of staff were all extremely courteous and helpful. Those in the restaurant were very attentive, within minutes of notifying Head Chef of the Feast Village Restaurant, of my wife's shellfish allergy, the Dining Concierge had alerted all the food outlets. Chef discussed the menu options and even prepared her food personally, when necessary, to ensure it was safe for her to eat. As we had read from other visitors' comments the flies could be a bit of a nuisance at the buffet breakfast and also in the rooms. - Perhaps an environmentally friendly fly spray could be left in the rooms to be used by the guests, should it be needed. (I understand they are seasonal.)
Staying in the Sea Villas was a real treat, although we found that occasionally the tourist boat trips from other areas were very intrusive as they cruised slowly past our balcony taking photographs! Although very fit the jungle trek was more of a challenge than we had anticipated and climbing up and over fallen trees was all part of the fun, but we thought a few more signposts would have confirmed that we were actually walking on the correct path would have helped! On a few of the steep inclines the wooden rails had collapsed which we felt needed replacing as a matter of priority for safety reasons. It was very enjoyable though and we recharged our batteries drinking coffee whilst reclining on the loungers at Emerald Bay. I found the attendant who rushed over with towels and iced water was also very knowledgeable about the tides and general safety of the beach and surrounding waters. As expats living in Malaysia we did find that the food and beverage prices were very much aimed at the European market whilst realising that; it is a five star resort and everything needs to be shipped from the mainland. Notwithstanding the above we had a great time and would definitely recommend the resort.

Awesome stay for a Sweet Honeymoon Delight
helpful & friendly staffs, best hotel design,

AWESOME EXPERIENCE! A 5 STAR RESORT INDEED! Drove 7 hours from Singapore to get an awesome service from the staffs was really something! 5 STAR for that! Our first time stay in a 5 star resort for honeymoon for 3D2N stay. Upon checking in at the Marina island, the staffs will serve a nice cold drinks for all the guests while waiting for the 1pm boat to take us to our villa. Took up the beach villa & was amazed by the room! Very big & spacious room! Love how the design of the villa. esp the bathtub which is at the very back of the room.
Food - Food was great and came in huge portions. Breakfast buffet spread was good, with freshly squeezed juices available! Lunch and dinners were also good with pretty fast service. We were happy with the food.
Emerald Bay, which is on the west side. You can walk there but there's a steep hill in the middle - it's easier to jump in the shuttle service which runs every 15 mins. Wherever you are on the island there's a bar and a restaurant close by. There's a choice of 7 different places to eat, offering a range of different cuisines. Our favourite was Uncle Lim's Kitchen with its buzzy atmosphere and great selection of local Nyonya dishes, but wherever you eat the food is excellent.
A tip - book an inclusive package including meals and spa treatments, otherwise you may find that the bill for extras is rather more than you expected. Suffice it to say we were very reluctant to leave this amazing island. We'll be back for sure. (:
