Overall, the stay at Bayview Hotel Georgetown was great. Everything went well and we enjoyed the room that we were provided. We had ample size in the room and beds were comfortable too. In addition, we have got quite a good view of penang from the window and both my friend and I enjoyed it a lot. However, I would like to say that the hotel should be refurbished soon as it looks a bit used and old. I do find certain parts of this hotel to be dirty but other than that, it's fine. Location, as mentioned was acceptable. We took cab to the city center and it costs us only 15 Ringgit Malaysia (USD4.50). The map given by the receptionist to us was useful as it shows us all the good restaurants as well as hawker stalls which were absolutely delicious and of course, reasonably priced.
Cheap compared to the hotels rate charged by others, big rooms, room service was quite good, couple of good restaurants near to the hotel area.
the room wasnt as clean as expected, the location is not really far away from the town center but you do get a lot of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.
- Hotel Feature Tip : If you are on a budget, do go for this hotel as it is pretty cheap. But if you are looking something luxury, you are not choosing the right hotel.

The Hotel is recommended to those who are budget conscious and those who like to stay near shops and restaurants. Penang Road, 5 minutes walk away from the Hotel, has all the interesting shops and restaurants. There is also an interesting market selling fruits, local cakes/ biscuits, etc. At Red Garden, between the Hotel and market, you can have a decent meal (local food) for less than US$3 per person.
Convenient location - near Penang Road where there are lots of shops and restaurants.
Breakfast, which is included, is excellent - my favourite was nasi lemak.
The Hotel provides only 2 bath towels - don't expect hand and floor towels.
- Restaurant Tip : You can have a decent meal (local food) at Red Garden, near the Hotel (5 minutes walk), for less than US$3 per head.

I spent 3 nights there. the first 2 nights, i heard the walking steps from someone in the room on the up story because of wooden floor i think.
unfortunately, the last night, a chinese family checked in, their children tried to open the connected door between their room and the room i stay :(....
whole night, they talked so loundly.. if i understand chinese language, i would know their secret at all..
Good good in the morning and excellent servces from all staffs there.
inside the hotel room, controlling the noise from the next door.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : actually, there are som many interesting place near by. huge shopping place for a lady, convention center for business trip, and nice view for taking a photo.
