I stayed there for my cousin's wedding this month. The front desk were not as friendly as I thought even thou is a "four" star hotel.

Well positioned hotel in old George Town
Good location, good hotel, good service

Hotel is well positioned to explore George Town by foot. Good experience with generally good service, although rather slow reaction occasionally. Food was average to good. Rooms were clean, good and well sized. Bed was comfortable and clean.

premium rooms are good for the money with etc service.

loved the revolving resturant, also food was an abundance and fresh.
service was impeckable without doubt. Attended to our needs straight away.
Travel tip:
if going to penang I would diffently stay at the bayview hotel in georgetown. Very well situated.

very nice big rooms.nice location.we had the grand deluxe room.nice city and sea view.the staff at the bar in the basement(security guy)very bad behaviour.such a pity for this hotel.the pool very small.

there r also convenient stores & supermarket nearby so everything is just convenient

Great location in a very comfortable Hotel
Views across to the mainland, central location, clean and everything you need at hand

a great starting point to walk the city and take in all the restoration work going and fabulous food close by. going further afield was not a problem as the public transport system was convenient to the hotel.pretty good shopping and do check out plaza gurney
Restaurant Tip:
Red Garden Food Court off Penang Road is a must

Great location, but room smelt strongly of smoke

Nice hotel, large room but it smelt very strongly of smoke although it was a non smoking floor. Really good location in the centre of Georgetown.
Restaurant Tip:
Very close to Red Garden hawker market, amazing cheap food.

Good location
The hotel is in a great location, close to the Red Garden Night Market, pubs, bars and shopping.

The hotel itself is nice enough, probably a little bit tired and could do with a bit of an update. I found the breakfast to be okay, nothing to get excited about - there is a lot of variety but the quality wasn't very good.
When we checked in we were told the room wasn't ready and we would have to wait about an hour or so. In Australia, hospitality is such that you would at least be offered a complimentary drink while you wait for your room - this didn't happen and would've been appreciated.
I stayed for four days and of the first three days, the Wi-Fi would not work on my iPhone despite working at bars around the area. It took the staff three days to finally get on to the IT department and get it fixed. This was pretty frustrating considering it took the guy around 30 seconds to fix it and if the staff had just contacted him in the first place, the issue could've been resolved.
Overall, not a bad hotel, staff were friendly, rooms were clean but I'd probably pick another one if I was to return to Penang.

great location just a stone throw away from the sea and also the city center. nice food is also provided and the staff from the lounge are very friendly.
