great price for what i saw..

mess was not so attractive in food manner.

the good of the Hotel, it is few steps away from different types of restaurants and bars. 10-15 minutes walk distance to Komtar mall. you also can take a Taxi for 15MR to the Gurney Mall which is located and faced the beach pavement, gives you a chance for walk exercise or shared the talk with loved one. bad thing that Internet is very expensive. Mess tables are not instantly cleaned up and kept ready for another customer. ala carte food are not well prepared or not so tasty.

Restaurant Tip : variety types of Asian cheap restaurants are just few steps away. also few bars can be reached with no time just behind the hotel.

In the middle of the town. Close to everywhere. Nice service. Good value to stay.

Carpet a bit old.

We stayed 3 nights in a deluxe room at the 14th level. Good location and the room was larger than I expected, the bathroom was better than you normally find in Penang hotels. The room & facilities were good & all of the staff were helpful & spoke & understood English well. For the price we paid, it is value for money. Aircon is cool enough for a pleasant stay.

Great location, nice clean rooms, excellent Japanese teppanyaki restaurant plus revolving restaurant on top floor. Taxi rank right outside hotel.

Pool was a little small and laps were hindered by a rope separating the shallow from the deep end.

We enjoyed our stay at the Bayview while accompanying a school sports team. Some 200 people involved from 5 visiting schools were put up in this hotel for a week without problem. We took a deluxe room which had a big bathroom, separate shower + bath/shower and views over the old town, Penang bridge and across the straits. Hotel is very accessible to old town on foot and bar/nightclub area of upper Penang Rd is right behind the Hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Georgetown offers some very interesting colonial era architecture. Take the effort to walk around the back streets to view the buildings closeup and even have a peek inside through open shutters. Take a trishaw if you don't feel like walking. Also recommend that you visit the lighthouse Mon-Saturday at Fort Cornwallis. The keeper will let you climb the lighthouse for a great 360 degree view over the town, harbour and across the straits to Butterworth/mainland.

Hotel in good location. Big room. Good service. We were with 7 month old babe. Worth this value.

A bit old and breakfast should be improve

We stay at that hotel for 4 nights. Hotel a bit old, but in good locations. Easy to go everywhere . Near to the bus stop and small shop. Our room was big that was easy to play with our 7 month old soon. Breakfast more Asian than Western and should be improve . Very good service. Internet in room but you have to pay extra.

Guest rooms are big.

Buffet breakfast spread is the same everyday - same food...

Guest rooms are really big, even those under standard category. Very good Philipino band singing at the hotel lounge. Staff at the front desk can speak English very well, therefore a plus point for English speaking tourist. Walking distance to nightlife and pubbing. One minus point is that the breakfast buffet spread is the same every morning - not so interesting for long stay.

Nightlife Tip : Do drop by this pub within walking distance called Soho. Really cool place!!

Excellent reception and service

Hotel concierge kept offering .

The hotel is in a good location near to the sights and is very ornate with plenty of space and helpful staff on hand. There is no beach nearby if this is what anyone is looking for although there is a reasonable swimming pool area and sunbeds included in the cost. Good nighttime entertainment with live music although drinks are very expensive by Malaysian standards

The hotel is one of three hotels which located on the best location near Penang road, besides Cititel and E&Q. It was easy to walked to little india, Komtar and Parkson Mall

This hotel need to do a big cleaning and has pest spraying more often. The room I stayed has 6 to 7 cockroaches walked around in the bathroom all day, all night. It's not hygienic at all.

If you have late check out, the hotel has late check out policy, just pay 200 baht or 20 RM an hour. I think it's quite flexible for us to had some sleep and got a shower before catch a night plane. Surprised me really. However I will not stay in this hotel again, I can't stand on cockroaches walk around near your food or kitchenware in the room. The price we paid for it was not expensive when you compare with some hotels in Bangkok. If you love to try exotic food like malaysian food, they will not disappointed you. Please try as much as you can. George town is nice and clean town, people is helpful and friendly. I love Penang !!!

Shopping Tip : Many products from Thailand selling there. It's nothing to buy but lots of food you have to try !!! like hokkien mee, laksa , rotti, indian curry and muslim food are nice

Convenient to old Georgetown. Friendly staff

Needs updating. Haven't seen such bad tv for many years. Breakfast dramatically overpriced. Drinks in the bar overpriced for the area. Very uncomfortable bed

I was hopefull when I saw the lobby. It looked nice. When we checked in, we were told that breakfast was included. The next day, at breakfast, we were told that we would have to pay for it because we booked online. It would just be billed to the room. I didn't think breakfast could be too expensive. When we checked out, I found out differently. How about over $30 for some bad instant coffee, a little fruit, do-it-yourself toast, some cold unedible chicken sausages and cold greasy pre-frozen hash brown pieces. We were charged over $15 each for a breakfast worth about $5. That was more than the evening buffet at the revolving restaurant on the roof

Restaurant Tip : Dine elswhere. And, you better like hard beds and not like tv.

Very Central,Large Restaurant,Friendly Staff.

Rooms just need updating slighty.

Easy to find and very central, lots of little bars around the area to go and eat at.Very quick and easy check in,friendly staff, good breakfast in large clean dining room, plenty of bars within the hotel but go in happy hour otherwise quite expensive.A beautiful hotel round the corner The Eastern Oriental Hotel is definately worth a visit-sister hotel to Raffle's in singapore, the food is to die for and very reasonably priced and is worth having a good look round it's a beautiful building.

Restaurant Tip : Go to the Eastern Oriental Hotel round the corner from hotel and eat and drink there it is beautiful and the food is fantastic.

Good location, great staff, very clean.

Carpets need replacing.

Great Hotel at a great location. Excellent facilities and within easy walking of Ferry, the Fort, and buses. The breakfasts were good and other facilities such as the pool were pleasant and clean. Very good value for money in a busy area. Staff were extremely helpful and responded quickly to all our needs and when for example the safe in the room did not work they were there in 5 minutes.

Their friendly service left a very good impression . Good location located near coast and the old city.

They can change their TV to LCD.

Smile is all that makes me feel comfort at bayview. Staff is always willing to help, putting on a sincere smiling face, which I think not only made my stay at bayview most comforting and truthfully show the friendly and keen to help characteristics of penangites. I will certainly come back to this city again and bayview will be my choice.

Good location

Dated, poor service, only one non-smoking floor

We were very dissapointed in Bayview. It doesn't deserve it's four star rating and is more like a low three star. It is very dated and quite grubby. It is badly in need of refurbishment. The service wasn't even that good. We had a superior room with twin beds. We were told that there wasn't a superior double/king room on the non-smoking floor! In fact, there only was one non-smoking floor in the whole 15 floor hotel. As you'd expect the hotel smelled of stale smoke. The breakfast was below average and they had a sign to say you would be charged for left overs wasted. The gym equipment was so old it wasn't worth using. The pool was OK. The only positive thing was the location which was convenient enough to most places of interest. However, note that the hotel is quite a way from the bay although granted we could see it from our room.

We were given the top floor with a dazzling view. Deluxe Room is spacious and comfortable.

Hotel is a bit old though it is clean and comfortable.

Location is good. Rather central and accessible to food. Though the booking does not include breakfast, food was not a problem at all due to the easy accessibility a stone's throw away. We drove, and parking was convenient. Just that roads in Penang are one-way which made driving there complicated and we ended up going in many circles :-)
