friendly staff, always remember you, rooms very nice, always cleaned daily, clean bedding comfy beds, housekeeping staff very helpful
just that the breakfast does not really cater for europeans
if we came back to penang we would definately stay at the berjaya, very good value for the price of the rooms, compared to other hotels in penang, within the town. we have stayed at another hotel in georgetown which was not a patch on the berjaya, in reespect of the friendly staff
Shopping Tip : good value at the pranglin mall, also gama

We booked a Junior Suite for 3 adults. The room was comfortable and everything worked well.Room was on high floor with nice sea view.Included free extra bed and breakfast for 3.Friendly staff.
Coffee at the coffee house was not nice.
We were greeted by friendly staff upon arrival.Check in was a breeze. We had a Junior Suite on the high floor with excellent sea view. The room amenities was acceptably good but not new. Everything worked well. Shower had good pressure and water heater worked excellent. We were promptly offerred an extra bed without asking and without any extra charges. As there were three of us, breakfast was included for three of us.At cheap price, I think it's value for money for a 4 star accommodation. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Taxi service is readily available at the door step.
Shopping Tip : It's only a five minute walk from Gurney Plaza, a nice modern shopping centre.

the carpet in the room is a total shcok. very dirty the tv is too old
the hotel location is good for my business meeting located nearby. There was no toothbrush in the toiletries kit. I asked for one from housekeeping and was told not available and I have to buy one myself from the convenience store located next to hotel.

Superior room is clean & spacious, with individually controlled air-con. Reasonably price buffet breakfast for hotel guest. Conveniently located; short drive to Gurney Plaza by taxi.
Colour TV with quite poor reception, not much channels to choose from. No Astro or ESPN. Only 2 bath towels for 2 days, have to request for face & hand towels. Water closet in bathroom leaked. Service during morning breakfast needs improvement; guests were left to search for table/seats themselves. Hotel seemed under-staffed.
Berjaya Georgetown Hotel is located next to 1-Stop Midlands Park shopping center, convenient for travellers who travel light. One can get toiletries at Guardian or Watson's just next door. Hotel staff are nice and friendly. We travelled around Penang on buses & taxi; bus rides from Hotel to Batu Ferringhi and back, taxi from Hotel to Queensbay Mall and bus from Queensbay Mall to Gurney Drive. Hotel's location is quite near to some of the places of interest.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Penang.
Travel tip : 1. The 1-Stop Midlands Park shopping center located next to Hotel was quite run down, not much life. There are shops operating there, but do not expect too much.
2. Traveller need to agreed on price before boarding taxi in Penang; the taxi drivers do not use meter.
3. The bus rides are ok; traveller needs to have exact fare, no change for extra fare. E.g. RM2/pax on Bus 101 brings us from Hotel to KOMTAR. RM2.70/pax on Bus 304 brings us from Queensbay Mall to Gurney Drive. Bus schedule can be infrequent due to jams on public holiday and weekends.
4. Short distance away from hotel (along Jln Burmah) in the direction of Jln MaCalister, we can get great Penang local food.
5. Food center next to Red Rock Hotel (at Jln MaCalister) and Gurney Drive has great food of local flavour; char koay tiao, etc.
6. Delicious chendol with lots of ingredients at Jln Chowrasta /Penang Road.
7. Cheaper for travellers to buy the famous bean paste biscuits ("dou sa bing") at Jln Chowrasta area.
8. If u do shop at any mama-store near Jewelry Center/KOMTAR, take care to check your purchases; and don't be overcharged.

Location was satisfactory.
Staff all showed good manner. Every time when we called them we found them quite helpful.Breakfast food was very good indeed. Room was nice and clean. We were given a room at 27/Floor with very good view. Next to the hotel, there is a small shopping mall. Many food selection around. There are also two shops open 24 hours next to it. Very conveinent. Good swimming pool inside the hotel although it looks small. I shall high recommend this hotel.

good location, attached shopping mall
old infrastructure, rooms appears not mantained
I've stayed for 5 nights in junior suite , although it was comfortable, there is a lot of improvement that can be done, especially the rooms condition, poorly maintained i would say, service was acceptable, parking can be a problem on certain days. Overall i was not impresses by the hotel facilities
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Good view

Best is the location, being central and on the bus route, easy access.
Watch your handbag ladies, my sister had an unfortunate incident, but despite this, we had a great time in this part of Penang.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Penang, this Berjaya has the lot - gorgeous food, friendly and most helpful staff, the rooms were most comfortable, just totally brilliant. I always watch for value for money, and this is it.
Shopping Tip : There are markets right beside the Berjaya, Maccas, KFC, Red Box(late at night) local eatery. I liked the idea of catching the local bus to places like Batu Ferringhi and other shops.

Great view from room if you are stay'in high up; clean & quiet; live music down in the bar; decent breakfast
rooms could use some repairs; no free internet
The Hotel was nice, although the location is a bit out of the city center. The rooms had seen some years - curtains were a bit ripped and edges curved, so it was hard to cover up all the light from windows. Also the bathroom was not "brand new" and had some specific smell...probably a cleaning product. but overall the room was spacious and looking nice. I specially liked the live music on the second floor bar. As there were not too many people around then the performer greeted and talked to all the listeners privately.

The rooms are very small, lobby also small and does not have much to shout for.The TV positioning in my room was off and the bed was squeezed in one corner, so you cannot watch the TV in front of you while lying straight. All in all just not worth staying here with the price they offer.Mostly patients that visits the opposie hospital stays here. Not that good location and away from the nightlife.the quality of the bed and pillows is like a the ones you find in a cheap hotel.Small old fashioned TVand toilet obviously small.Hotel getting old and dilapidated.More like 3 stars for the price. Will not stay here again, there are much better hotels around in Penang with better quality and price.Located in town so no beach whatsoever.Did not even bother to check other amenities, don't think they will be good anyway.
Nightlife Tip : Go to Penang road for nightlife

Convenient with taxi stand right in front. Friendly staff. Nice view from upper floors. Pretty inexpensive considering what you get. The bed is clean.
You could hear some traffic at 24 floor. It can do with new carpets, a fresh coat of varnish on the cupboards, fixing of loose cupboard hinges and upholstery change. A music channel would be good. Could use coloured towels so discoloration don't show.
Like most older hotels in Penang. I guess maintenance is often an issue. Star ratings in a hotel does not guarantee poshness or cleanliness, etc. It is merely the number of restaurants available or whether spa or gym is available, etc. The spa smells funny so I did not use it. Breakfast is reasonable since they charge occupants RM10 if not packed into your room. Guess you cannot expect a wide spread for that so it is reasonable. Did spot a used butter knife one early breakfast time. Also got only one bath towel every day and got a hand towel only on the last day. Room is small but ok for just 1 person. Would be squeezy if the same room is for 2. This is not close to most city tourist sites but I wasn't touring.

Strategic location in term of access to shooping area and tourist place. Very reasonable price.
Limited parking and not only one lift to go from car park to the floor.
Overall, my family enjoyed the stay at the hotel despite the short coming of the limited parking places for the hotel guest. I will recommend to my friend to come to stay here because of the reasonble pricing. Further more, the cafe for breakfast is very crowded and long queue, may be the management can do something to improve it.Finally, I also like to thank the hotel for upgrading our room from standard to superior and junior suite. Good job Agoda.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The sleeping budda temple, gurney drive and botanical garden are very near by

Strategically located near shopping malls and hawker's spots.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Value for money for a plesant stay.
The housekeeping can be further improved in terms of providing prompt service.
The hotel is strategically located near the famous tourist spot, Guerney Drive which has given us a lot of options in terms of food at posh restaurants or the wide variety of Penang Hawker's food.
The hotel front desk was kind in providing my family a free upgrade to suite room without requesting for one.
The only major shortfall is the service of the housekeeping staff. They were slow in making up the room and slow in responding to our request for towels and pillows.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The tour operator near the main entrance of the hotel provides excellent services with reasonable price.

The Hotel's location is good. It’s connected to a shopping mall which is very convenient. The staff members I encountered were efficient and friendly. Rooms are spacious and well-kept. Room amenities and hotel facilities were adequate.
Room interior, air condition and toilet need to upgrade to match the 4-star standard. Breakfast almost the same dishes everyday. And I was having diarrhea on the next day.
