Superior Room was Clean & Comfortable.
The bathroom was poorly litted and dim. Location was good and surrounded with affordable good food. A stonethrow away from Upper Penang Road Clubbing Area & the beautiful Easter & Oriental Hotel which has nice restaurant with wonderful ambience. Within 15min walking distance to Komtar Bus Terminal. However, the area doesn't really feel safe at night for walking around especially for female travellers. Would try hotels located at Gurney drive the next time I visit Penang. Feels safer and newer malls with Starbucks can be found in that area. There are more caucasian tourists in that area too.

1. Toilet leaking.
2. No response from room manager- TV operation problem.
3. No invoice issued, reason Internet booking. The location of CITITEL HOTEL is very convenient for visitors. I spend two days shopping at the walking disteance shopping mall. No problem on eating within 5 mins walk, you can reach "RED GARDEN", a place that you can enjoy nice food with nice song. We can dance also, follow by Boby massage. It makes my days in Penang a happy and memorable one.
Nightlife Tip : Red garden, place that allows you to eat dance and relax.

Very near to night life, and shopping complexes. Room is small, even after booking was given 2 single beds although stated with spouse. The room is not adequate with the star ratings given, bathroom was not replenished with soaps, gels and so on....i could definitely get a better deal from other places.

Clean rooms, helpful staff, chamber maid was helpful. Receptionist could be more helpful if she has more up to date knowledge about travelling by bus. The big lobby gives a very good impression that the hotel is well run and managed.The staff are very helpful and the rooms are very clean. There are many shops and eating places nearby. The bus terminal is within walking distance and has alot buses going to many places.

Near to nightlife in Upper Penang Road at Georgetown,F&B experience was great, the food was wide variant and nice, customer service was acceptable. The standard room is small and toilet was small as well, i had to sleep in a separate beds with my beloved wife.....;shampoo,soap,shower gel was not provided, overall not acceptable to the price paid and star rating awarded to the hotel. However it was an experience to be charished, being able to see nostalgic Georgetown and its surrounding jewels....

Very good value for money. Good location - walking distance to key sights.Wonderful luncheon buffet. No significant weaknesses. This hotel is very well located adjacent to the increasingly attractive UPR (Upper Penang Road) precinct. Penang is working hard to make this a magnetic tourist precinct. The hotel offers very good value for money and the attentiveness of the staff is first class. If possible try the luncheon buffet - discount for seniors!

Location, clean rooms, friendly service. Soft Mattresses, very few channels on cable TV. No CNN or BBC. The hotel location is very good, at the heart of the city. Many restaurants just outside the hotel along the streets. There is a reasonably good mall within walking distance. The breakfast is standard, you will get sick of it after the third day. The bathtub leaks but toilets are clean. Rooms size are okay for the standard room. Rooms are clean. But they need to change the mattress which is too soft, not good for people with back problems. TV set old 14 inches with very few channels. No CNN or BBC or other international news channels except of CNBC. For the price it is a reasonably good hotel. I would stay there again if they change the mattress.
Restaurant Tip : Good food at the E&O hotel which is about 3 mins walk.

the lobby is very nice,and big. the room is also big and neat.but the furniture is old.tv is too small. i can't believe 4 stars can privide such a small tv. there are no tooth brush and slippers provided. breakfast is ok. location is very convient.to this price, considered as ok .

nice staff,clean room, convenient for travelling around small room,no bell boy to help to take the baggage to the room generally speaking, i will rate 4 out of 5 for the hotel. Although no bell boy to help us to take our baggage to the room, we enjoyed the stay in the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable tho small. Our room was arranged to be with the sea view as request altho on the lower floor. When we went to take our left baggage for leaving, the bell boy was helpful to provide us the travel information about the free bus to komtar.

Simple, clean and friendly staff I was looking for a cost-effective place to stay close to downtown georgetown and hassle free. Booking on Agoda last minute gave me this. The hotel is a good place to stay for those who simply need a bed to crash in and with friendly staff ane next to the night markets and bars a very good option.The only negative was that the rooms are dated and we did not receive the 4am alarm call we requested from the reception.

Good location. Easy access to public transport and food outlets. Clean room and bed linen. Bad pillow - too hard. Only 2 bath towels, no hand towel. We were served by a recept that was neither very helpful nor cheerful apart from allocating a non-smoking room and sea view that we had prior requested via our agoda booking. She didn't bother to give us valid info such as free shuttle bus service. Some other hotel guests were more fortunate to be served by helpful and cheerful ones. Cititel is situated in a good location. There is a mini mart opposite. Once you exit the hotel - the 2nd coffee shop to the right serves good breakfast cum lunch ranging from porridge to noodle to local style fried fritters; to the left side of the hotel, at the end of the road, there is a pedestrian lane with pubs, bars, live band, cafe, massage outlet which is lively in the night (near E&O Hotel).
Good public transportation. There is free CBD Air-Con Shuttle Bus opposite Cititel that takes you to KOMSTAR and the bus Terminal located within KOMSTAR vicinity. The free Shuttle also takes you to Weld Quay (Bus terminal) where you can take a public Air-Con Bus to Batu Ferringi (RM 2.70) as well as the airport (RM 2.70), each location approximately an hour plus bus journey.

It was within walking distance of all the museums and art galleries and especially the beach you advertise that you have a gym,but for big people like my husband the machines are to small but is ok The room was very nice and we were able to get a non smoking room, the TV was a little small, but again we did not come to watch tv. the restaurants were good as well. we liked the small shop or convenience store we bought many souvenirs to take back to friends and family. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. the rooms were clean and we loved our stay and the next time we will stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : the short walk to the beach and the hill was really good

Good Location as hotel is close to food outlets, shopping, etc. Courteous/efficient service by Reception, Coffee House and Housekeeping staff. Price is competitive and security is provided (floor access controlled by card key)
The room was a bit small, and the toilet has no bidet. There was no newspaper delivery altho some rooms were provided with newspapers. Great value for money..i would certainly use Agoda's service again. The receptionist was most helpful in helping me secure an extra room thru internet booking upon arrival, else, i would have to pay walk-in rate which is more expensive. The breakfast selection was good - wide choice. I would definitely come back.
