Great Location. Nice Japanese restuarant.
Rooms are small, old & dated. Bathroom looks dirty. Can't believe 14" TV still exists! Bathroom has no face towels. Everything is so minimal. Hotel needs to upgrade their standard rooms!!
I can't say much about the hotel except for it's location. Everything is so old in our Standard Room. No extra facial towels. Small tiny hairdryer. If you have long hair, pls bring your own hairdryer!! Beds are separated so husband & I have to sleep separately. The hotel should never be rated a 4 star. A 3 star is more appropriate. The breakfast is not v good. Wide selection but everything's lukewarm.

Well attentive staff. It's a valuable for money hotel. All staff are all ready to service. Walking distance to Komtar (10 minutes) and just 50 meters walk to pub hopping.
I made a last minute booking with agoda (11.30pm and arrived at the hotel from singapore at 10.10 am the next day) Superb handling. Tks Agoda. Every was great at the moment I stepped into the hotel. I was greeted well at the hotel entrance and was allowed immediate check in. At the price I paid, I have no complaints. Enjoyed my pub hopping. Try SOHO pub and resturant just 50 metres from the hotel.

can enjoy the seaview from the room
the size of the room is much smaller than expected
the standard room is smaller than normal 4-star hotel and renovation works of the room is needed. the counter top in the bathroom is so small and you cant find a place to put your personal things on it.
the staff are nice and helpful.
the location is good and you can find the tourist free bus stop easily.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : just 10 mins walk to Komtar and it is the bus station for all the buses and u can find 2 big shopping centres nearby.

Cititel is conveniently located at George Town, with trishaws & taxis waiting just right at the front door. There was also free shuttle running around the area. You may get seaview rooms without extra charge. Room hygiene were fine but the decors were old however. At this price, overall service is acceptable.

good location, lotsa food places around the hotel both during day and night, clean
The hotel was really convenienct for us as it was in the town center where it was just walking distance to food shops, which is easily accessible during day and night. There are lots of shop stalls setup abt 5 mins walk from the hotel, serving delicious local cuisine. The hotel is quite clean.
Restaurant Tip : Many food outlets around the hotel

fair price with internet booking, central location with surrounding amenities and hearty breakfast
bathroom finishing can be improved. Guests tend to be noisy at corridors late at night though. However, getting to the hotel by car can be tricky for a non penangite.
I've always liked to stay in Cititel when on a job as I can move around freely due to its central location. In addition I can do some shopping in the evening after my work as shops are nearby. The security and ambience in the hotel is also good. There didn't seem to be any suspicious corners or people lurking around.
Travel tip : Advantageous to inform hotel of any special requestin advance such as a preferance for a king size bed even though you are single occupant

Convenient Position
Clean rooms
Friendly staff
Breakfast okay
Cititel is situated on border of the heritage area of George town, and close to the jetty. You can walk to visit the heritage sites, go to the jetty and take a ferry to Butterworth, on the main land. The staff are friendly, though service is not so effiecient. We had to wait for over half an hour for them to check our booking via Agoda. Pleasant stay, and good price including breakfast.
Travel tip : Visit Little India and Sun Yat Sen Memorial house

We stayed in the Cititel for one night during our stay in Penang. It's in a great location near eateries and upper Penang Rd where you will find the happening bars in the area. The building is a little run down but we were happy for the price of the room that we payed.

Convenient location. Quick access to food stalls. Taxis & trishaws stands right at the door.
I would only rate this a 3-star hotel. Rooms are clean but dated. TV is small. You're expected to take the luggages yourself, find your way to the rooms yourself. No face towel, toothbrush & toothpaste provided. But at this price, the minimal service is acceptable. Do request for a seaview room if you book.
Restaurant Tip : Opposite to the hotel, a few steps to the left is the Red Garden, which offers cheap but good local food.

Superior Room was Clean & Comfortable.
The bathroom was poorly litted and dim.
Location was good and surrounded with affordable good food. A stonethrow away from Upper Penang Road Clubbing Area & the beautiful Easter & Oriental Hotel which has nice restaurant with wonderful ambience. Within 15min walking distance to Komtar Bus Terminal. However, the area doesn't really feel safe at night for walking around especially for female travellers. Would try hotels located at Gurney drive the next time I visit Penang. Feels safer and newer malls with Starbucks can be found in that area. There are more caucasian tourists in that area too.

1. Toilet leaking.
2. No response from room manager- TV operation problem.
3. No invoice issued, reason Internet booking.
The location of CITITEL HOTEL is very convenient for visitors. I spend two days shopping at the walking disteance shopping mall. No problem on eating within 5 mins walk, you can reach "RED GARDEN", a place that you can enjoy nice food with nice song. We can dance also, follow by Boby massage. It makes my days in Penang a happy and memorable one.
Nightlife Tip : Red garden, place that allows you to eat dance and relax.

Very near to night life, and shopping complexes.
Room is small, even after booking was given 2 single beds although stated with spouse.
The room is not adequate with the star ratings given, bathroom was not replenished with soaps, gels and so on....i could definitely get a better deal from other places.

Clean rooms, helpful staff, chamber maid was helpful.
Receptionist could be more helpful if she has more up to date knowledge about travelling by bus.
The big lobby gives a very good impression that the hotel is well run and managed. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are very clean. There are many shops and eating places nearby. The bus terminal is within walking distance and has alot buses going to many places.
