Copthorne Orchid Hotel, Penang

The hotel was located on the beach yet not too far from the city. The building design was captivating rooms viewing the sea. The private beach was fascinating though it was not as clean as we would like to take a swim in the sea. The room was clean and the air condition worked well through the stay. The hotel is on the beach yet close to the city as one can easily get to the food eatary easily in the city.

For what we paid per-room-night it was money well spent. We had a room with a lovely view of the hills and the sea which made my mom squeal with delight when she stepped out on the balcony. Rooms are bright, spacious, and well-aired. Housekeeping is fast and efficient, but can be a little bit forgetful. They kept forgetting to replace the hand towels for my room. The air-conditioning can get a little bit cold (even at the lowest setting), and when switched off, the air in the room can get a little stifling. Opening the doors to the balcony helps but then mosquitoes would start to become a problem. Fans might help. I didn't go take a swim in the pool, but the time spent soaking in the sea water at the private beach was well worth it. For people who like checking out wildlife, you might see a few crabs and iguanas there (a sight which greeted us when we went down once). As travelling by bus can be quite a money-saver, it is really good that the bus stop to popular locations are just a minute's (or less) walk from the hotel entrance. Crossing over to the other side of the road can be a test of confidence. Even though the hotel has a good choice of local dishes, if you want something more authentic, there is a food centre just across the road that offers quite a range of food. The portion might be a bit small, but that means you can try many more dishes for the same amount you would pay at the hotel. Don't forget to get a discount coupon for the toy museum from the front desk, and try to plan ahead so that you can take advantage of the free shuttle service. Unless you don't mind using your laptop to access the free WiFi in the restaurant/poolside, it's cheaper to use the internet at the hotel's business centre than through the phone line in your room.

The Hotel is good. Nice view, especially for me that like beach very much. and there a lot of transportation. we can order taxi or take bus in fron of hotel to feringgy or Komtar. There is a doll museum near the hotel. and only 30 menit to go to Bukit bendera. I am enjoy my holiday in Pinang through the hotel
