Our stay at the Dorsett was a delight, the staff was friendly, the room service was great value for money, the location is ideal to go visit georgetown. We had a lovely stay and plan to visit again in a few months.
great service, room really clean and spacious, nice bathroom, huge bed!
breakfast really "local", not much european food, expensive rates for taxis leaving from the hotel
- Restaurant Tip : just a few steps away from the hotel, Nagore Place has on its street a great organic restaurant.
A really simple but delightfull menu with really cheap prices!

The hotel is in a very good condition and the rooms and staff are very nice. I enjoyed staying even i stayed for one night. After staying on the beach for couple of days, i decided to try town hotel for a day and it was nice. Beach area is better.
This hotel is in town and it is close and nearby areas to visit.
Far from beach.

The Dorsett seems a reasonable place to spend a couple of nights in Penang if you are primarily interested in walking around the old parts of Georgetown and want a base in the city. Its probably quieter than the comparable hotels around Penang Street. If they want to attract business clientele, then free reliable wifi should help. Decent Nasi Lemak for breakfast, and handy for hawker stalls and restaurants nearby- reasonable walking distance into nightlife areas.
- comfortable room, friendly staff, safe, reasonably convenient locations, decent views over Georgetown.
- wireless internet expensive and unreliable
- some noise in the south-facing rooms from an entertainment center nearby with some loud and bad karaoke on weekend nights until late!
- Restaurant Tip : The Hot Wok, round the corner on Jalan Burma, serves great Nyonya (Straits Chinese) cuisine (it has recently moved from Pulau Tikus)
