Lovely historic hotel

Staying at the E&O in Penang is what my wife and I treat ourselves to occasionally when travelling in the air. In fact sometimes we drop into Penang just to stay a day or two at the hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
About a block away down Jalan Penang is an wide variety of stalls in a food court circling around a stage featuring an ecletic program of live (cheesey) entertainment.

Colonial splendour by the sea

This is a grand old lady of a hotel that having being rescued from near dereliction only 10 years ago is again turning the heads of those who enjoy colonial style luxury. The sea view rooms are fantastic - there is no beach, so your window may be as little as 5 metres from the sea with a palm tree or two in between just adding to the overall effect. The rooms aren't equipped with all the 21st century amenities, but they have everything you need, and they importantly they look just perfect. Would I go back - yes, like a shot!

Memorable hotel

This is one of my most favorite and memorable hotels in the world. I visited there again after 21 years. The hotel has been renovated and refurbished since then, however, has not lost its charms and welcoming hospitality. The location is superb as it is almost like a landmark in Penang. World heritage sites in George Town are within walking distance from the hotel. There are a plenty of restaurants and cafes in the vicinity as well. I hope the hotel keeps its classic elegance and beauty as it is, and yet stays open for diverse tourists at an affordable rate. Two thumbs up!

Wonderful hotel to relax.

this is our 3rd stay in this wonderful hotel. every time we are welcomed in a manner like we are coming home. well thats almost what we feel. from the moment we arrive till the moment we leave we are being looked after. the room is beautiful with an expansive view over the water, the pool is wonderful to relax in , and both the restaurants serve great food.
breakfast is great with a wide variety of different foods . you can easily spend 1 to 2 hours on this.
make sure you leave some room for lunch. the choice is not as extensive as breakfast however its good. dinner is sumptuous. you cannot go past the buffet dinner served in their new restaurant. very extensive choice here again.
their more upmarket restaurant 1885 we highly recommend. definitely worth visiting. lovely room and 1st class service.
the front office staff is always extremely helpful and efficient.
highly recommend this hotel.

that is my best hotel in malaysia
we spent 10 days in kuala lumper incl 2 nights in genting hightland. but so hot in kul and everythins is too expensive.
in penang is the fresh air of malaysia just 1 hour flight from kul. the hotel is very good, seafood so fresh and cheap

What a lovely hotel - huge rooms, beautiful decor, great staff and beautiful views of the sea. It had it all - wifi, breakfast, a beautiful pool and an old world charm that made the stay extremely memorable.

Great Location in Katong-

This was our 3rd stay at the Hotel-We kept coming back as the location and room were terrific !
Quiet and restful stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Even though the Hotel is in the process of being Upgraded, the location is excellent. Direct buses to to Airport and Orchard Road and all Singapore attractions.

This hotel is one of the best we've stayed in. They've manage to keep the hotel looking vintage yet clean, beautiful. We really were very surprised at when we walked in to our room. We would definitely recommend this hotel to those that like the old & vintage look. We had our butler who was really sweet & obliging too. The breakfast spread was also quite good and tasty!
