Islolated hotel

I travel with my old age parents and sister. This is their first trip to Penang and we have chosen the hotel due to a local friend recommendation.
The hotel staffs and driver are friendly. However, we find that the location is rather isolated (with not much amenities around the area). The famous Gurney drive is about 20-30minutes walk away. For family with old age parents that cannot walk for long time, it is prefer to take a taxi which is easily available.
I do not drive and hence, we have rented a car with driver from the hotel. The driver is friendly and recommends us to places in Penang.
My mum likes the sea view room and enjoys it. Every morning, she will sit next to the window and enjoy the view.
However, there is limited masseuse and is unable to provide the massage for 3 of us at one time.
Overall, the hotel is clean and has a quiet environment.

Nice hotel with a touch of serentiy

It was a return stay at this hotel and it was another plesant experience albeit it was only a overnight trip. The spacious room overlooking the sea provided a sense of serenity. The staff service was as usual efficient and satisfactory. However I hope there will be some improvement in the business centre as it was only accessible upon request.
Travel tip:
Would recommend to business travellers who look forward to a relaxing stay after completing official work.

this hotel has a nice view facing the sea along gurney drive. by cab, it cost rm10 to get to gurney plaza which takes only 5-8mins. it is advisable to walk along the gurney road for a nice sea view(takes around 15mins).
the street foods at gurney street seemed to be deteriorated as compared to few years back. the potion is too small for a price of rm3-5. one will never enough to get you full. it doesnt taste that good either. the famous foods you can try are assam laksa and of course rojak. char kuey teow only selected stall. while for wan tan mee, i had tried an awful taste ever at gurney street (beware for the stall-man that use recycle type of paper plate). you will taste lots of msg & pepper in the noodles and wanton!

When I check in at 13.20, it took me another 30 mins to get my first room. The front desk staff make a mistake in charging RM1600 to my credit card as deposit, even when I have booked my room with full payment.
The double bed was a joined twin bed and it is most uncomfortable to sleep in such a bed.And the breakfast spread could be better.
Overall, it is still an acceptable hotel. And I hope the management will look into upgrading it soon.

Good hotel but rooms a little small

Hotel was clean and staff okay the rooms are clean but a bit small. We were on our honeymoon and had told the hotel in advance but they did nothing at all for us. On our other hotels we booked for our honeymoon they all did a little something for us so felt a little let down by the Evergrren. When visiting Penang again we would stay at the hotel because of its position and it was very good value.
Restaurant Tip:
Some good restaurants in the area but give some of the smaller street restaurants a go better food and value

Great Hotel but bad service by Hotel Reservations

the hotel was great with convenient location, a great view of gurney drive and very comfortable rooms. however, our stay was marred by a very unco-operative and bad service from the hotel reservations. as there was a mix up with the reservation, we expected the reservation department to be more co-operative and pro-active instead of just pushing all the blame to our booking agent agoda. as we were travelling and had limited access to emails and phone during the reservation period, we feel they could've been more helpful to us in helping us sort out our booking arrangements. many praises to the agoda team who promptly made arrangement and sorted out the problems with the hotel to ensure our smooth journey and stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Gurney drive is an excellent location with all the famous eateries in one location plus a nice by the beach sidewalk for an after dinner stroll. There is also the Gurney Plaza offering modern amenities with cafes and cinemas for a relaxing stay.
