Have a nice sea view but small room
The view of facing the sea is nice, bed is comfortable and big enough for two people.

our check in was fast and have a polite bellboy to help us to carry our luggages to our room after checked-in. the sea view is nice and their bed is comfortable to sleep.
cons : the rooms actually is small and is not worth by paying more expensive to get a sea view's room. their large bed is actually combined two beds to become a "large" bed and not really a king sized bed.
their hygiene should be much more improve. designed is simple.
you can stay at evergreen hotel if you are travelling for a business trip or just 1 night sleep there. their sea view is really nice and i enjoyed it very much.you can walk to gurney and food stalls within 20 minutes from the hotel. when you just stepped out from the hotel, penang sea is just in front of you. this is a good things for the hotel. not much facilities there and just a simple hotel.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Evergreen has a very nice sea view's room but pricey. You can get it if you want to get the view.

the good things about this hotel are good location because is very close to shopping mall and along the road you can see many nice restaurant and its only a walking distance.Nice sea view opposite hotel, many local people loves to hang around with snack.
Restaurant Tip:
remember to try the local hawker food in penang. cheap and delicious. the place called Gurney drive .

good value 4 star property on gurney drive

i like to stay here when visiting penang as i know i will get value for money. clean well maintained rooms, good size, spacious bathrooms, complimentary fruit bowl, coffee, tea and bottled water.
the restaurant is very popular with families as it has an enormous dinner buffet with different themes every night. the lobby and bar are nothing special, 80's standard asian hotel decor in need of an uplift.
the spa and gym are ok with all equipment in working order and there are tennis courts and a large pool. free parking and an efficient check-in and check out. this hotel is not "trendy" like the g hotel or the gurney but it delivers a good nights rest and thats the most important thing for me.
Restaurant Tip:
try "that little wine bar" located in chow thye road about 5 minutes from the hotel by taxi. excellent western food. for a bigger and cheaper wine selection but less food choice try "the wine shop" just behind the prudential building in a side street that runs between jalan kelawei and jalan burma.

Great location and lovely hotel.

Very good facilities, and the rooms were well equipped and clean.
Wifi connection in the lobby good.
Love the breakfast, good spread of local and western choice. Cant say much of the service, did not get much attention when we needed some help with the safe. Probably it's the season of the year "The Chinese New Year".
Still would come back next visit.

the thing i liked the most about evergreen laurel hotel is the location. it is located at the strait of gurney drive. it's very convenient for food and shopping, moreover it's located in between the city centre and batu ferringi.. the staffs are friendly and helpful, rooms are spacecious and clean.

A real pleasant stay

Heading back to Penang for the Chinese New Year. Decided to book my stay in this hotel as the usual place really up their prices during this super peak season. We're in Penang so there was no need for breakfast. I got a room by the lifts on the 11th floor, and it was really clean and neat. For a superior the room size was very decent with a large king bed. The room has a city view. The bath is indeed clean and no funny 'biological' stains on the walls or basin area. there is also ample parking when we were there. so there was no need to hunt for parking when coming back at night.
The location of the hotel is ok BUT its a headache getting back to the hotel. As most Penang roads are one way, you may need to sit a jam heading back to the hotel. There are 2 entrances to the hotel, one is the main one along Gurney and the other is at the back of the hotel but both has its fair share of bad traffic. Generally the hotel is nice and quiet but if you are to walk to Gurney Plaza or the hawker stalls at Gurney make sure you have a pair of walking shoes as its a solid 20-25 mins walk. There are coffee shops nearby but if you are looking for great Penang foods, you'll need to head else where. These eateries along Gurney can be a bit pricey and less 'yummy', so always go the distance for better food!
