good location for looking for food whereby Gurney drive just a throw a stone away. On the other hand, boring also can go Shopping which is just a walking distance. Helpful Hotel staff with prompt action taken when requested. Swimming pool shall be clean up and change water more often.

NIce, clean and big room. Excellent roll-in bed. Good location along Gurney drive. It's not located along shopping street. My friends and I loved the hotel. We were given a big and clean room with a city view. I must say the roll-in bed is not the usual crappy type. The hotel service is excellent and we were very happy with it. The hotel is located along Gurney Drive but it's quite a walk away from the Gurney Hawker Centre.
Restaurant Tip : If you want to try the seafood there, Bali Hai Restaurant which is about 5-10min walk from the hotel serves excellent seafood.

Staff are friendly. Lots of eating places within walking distance. Food in the cafe is limited. This is the 2nd time staying here. A cosy environment with a team of friendly staff.
Shopping Tip : Its near the Gurney Plaza and also the famous Gurney beach.

This team of receptionists overall does not look friendly. The rest of the hotel staff maintain a high level of politeness. The last time I stayed here was last November 08 and the service at Reception was brilliant. However, this trip was a disappointment. I booked two twin bed rooms -a deluxe and superior. Check-in at around 2.00pm and was told our rooms are ready but located at different floor. I insisted both rooms to be on the same floor. Receptionist wasn't too pleased at all and spoke in Malay to her colleague of my request. It is silly to have my children staying in different floor from us. It's common sense. I then opted for one double and a twin rooms to quicken my check-in as apparently they are having problem dealing with my original request. 12 minutes later, was told I can have rooms on the same floor but have to come back 1 hour 30 min later as the rooms are not ready. Left our luggages with Concierge and went to Gurney Plaza. Prior to Evergreen hotel, the hotels we stayed in Singapore and Malacca, check-in was a breeze. We were given an upgrade in Singapore and Malacca without additional cost. All we requested were two rooms on same floor. Its a shame I have to give a thumb down on this trip as I previously stayed at Evergreen twice before this trip and both was a wonderful experience. Receptionist should use more initiative. Not asking for an upgrade but merely use some common sense in allocating rooms. More importantly, a friendly face should be the norm.

convenient location The food of the restuarant is not attractive and the price is not reasonable. The location of the Evergreen Hotel is convenient. There are many restuarants around the hotel. The food is quite nice. The room is clean and tidy. The room rate is reasonable. There is a room for kids to read and play game. The swimming pool is not very big. The service is good. The hotel staff is very nice to help us to arrange taxi and advise the place for visiting.

location, no cloe fun activities. We sayed in this hotel for one night, the service was normal, food also, the hotel has no direct access to the beach far from the night market, away from close attractions and the price was good.

the hotel room is spacious and clean. the receptionist quite bad manners. The hotel room is spacious and clean. Location just nearby the Plaza Gurney and walk distance to lot of restaurant. I will feel free to stay at the hotel again but do wish they can improve their service espeacially the mannes of the receptionist. they ruined my mood at the first before I discover advantage of the hotel itself.
Restaurant Tip : Restaurant beside the hotel with various choice of food and taste nice.

This hotel is not too bad compared to many around the area. The staff is friendly especially the old man at the parking lot. He will actually recognize your cars thus you don't have to keep on reminding them and get a new ticket.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : This hotel is near to all places and not as congested as G hotel. and the price is much better that G hotel. The staff is its asset

boring at night, not near malls The hotel is excellently situated for food,close to eating places along Gurney drive. Rooms were decent and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was an impressive feast! Have to take a cab quite a way to do any decent shopping,cabs expensive. hotel is dead in the evenings. the one bar sucked in terms of substandard drinks and the halfhearted band.

next to the beach and close to the shopping center small rooms and less varities when it comes to teh free breakfast I travelled to Pennang by BUS from Cameron HL. I arrived to the bus station and took a taxi to the hotel. the hotel location is very nice next to the beach. it is clean and the staff are very friendly. they put me and my family next to each others. taht was nice. the rooms are little bit small. Yet, the well-designed hotel makes everytrhing looks close to you. very easy access to the lobby and the swimming pool. the breakfast is good. yet, when compared to the Nikko hotel, it has less varieties.

Location, swimming pool, quality of room which includes free internet service. Yes, you'd think all hotels would have free internet but that's not yet the way of the world. The staff should have immediate records on file showing how many times a guest has stayed at the hotel and so avoid filling out registration - again.
A clean hotel in a good location with a nice swimming pool at good rates. Be sure your reservation includes the breakfast buffet. Even if one stays here for business the proximity to Gurney Drive is a plus and allows a number of places to eat and meet all within a few minutes' walk from the hotel. I've stayed here several times and among the several hotels I've experienced in Penang this is the best for value.
Travel tip : The swimming pool is best in the calm of the early morning. The open air eateries along Gurney Drive should not be missed.

Great location on Gurney Drive, good seafood restaurants within walking distance and a short taxi ride into Georgetown When you arrive at the hotel, you see the staff in green jackets,the same style as EVA airlines and you think EVA efficiency, but alas the hotel is in decline and that includes staff quality and training. The whole hotel has a 1980/90 feel and needs an upgrade. The hotel buffets reflect this era, with almost no fresh produce and the coffee shop decore reminds me of hotels 30 years ago.
But if you avoid the food, the rooms are clean, the bed linen is old but also clean, for the right price, a fair place to stay.
Restaurant Tip : Chinese seafood restaurants nearby
