The hotel was great, food was good and staff was very kind and friendly. The pool and garden next to the beach is just a wonderful place to spend the morning after breakfast through lunch.

The only con was having to return to work.

The hotel was very clean and the chamber maid greeted us every morning on our way to breakfast and asked if there was anything else we needed in our room. The view from the room overlooked the garden and pool area to the sea (great view). The restruants offered a varity of food and the staff was very helpful in explaining the local dishes (a must try). The hotel is located near the night market and there are also many other eating places on the street that are good.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The butterfly farm and garden are a must to see.

Very close to the beach where it takes only 1 min by walk, lots of interesting small shops around a hotel.

Nothig special, but the only a bit inconvenient is that the location is rather far from the airport.

We family stayed and had a birthday party for my son. The restaurant could arrange a birthday cake for him, and some of other guests in the restaurant kindly sang a song for him with us. We had an unforgettable party which however was small.

Travel tip : Although close to the beach, it is not so good for swimming due to a lot of jellyfish.

The position is good. It is right on the beautiful beach. You just need to stroll though the pool area to reach it. It is on the main road, close to bars, mini marts, restaurants, bus stops, KFC, night market, etc. The lobby and restaurants look good.

My room was not to my taste at all. The furniture was really old fashioned. It was like walking into your grans house or a timewarp. I found that aspect depressing. The carpet was very shabby and my room smelt musty. The mini bar was unstocked. However this could be because hotel was full so maybe I got a room that isn't usually used. I found the pool area was crowded and rowdy.

I stayed in this hotel for one night as the other hotel Id been staying in, The Parkroyal, was full. It was 26th Dec so I had to pay over the odds. It certainly wasn't worth it. Perhaps coming from the Parkroyal tainted my view slightly, as I was very disapointed with Golden Sands. It looks quite flash from the outside and communal areas are OK, but my room was awful. It did have everything you need, and was clean, but it was old fashioned and worn out. The pool area had a kind of Butlins feel to it. It didn't have the relaxed, tropical ambiance I would have expected. Although if you have kids I guess they will enjoy this. I certainly couldn't relax here, so I had to go to the beach. For some reason they don't have sunloungers on the beach here, so you have to lie on your towel.

Beautiful beach and family pool area. Buffet breakfast very good.

Very busy and felt very busy.

This was obviously a busy weekend for families. The number of screaming children running down the halls was amazing, the adventure zone for kids was more like a dark warehouse than a play area, we can get better in KL at Megamall Kidszone. The beach was beautiful but again very very busy with jet skis and boats, not very nice for swimming or just walking along the beach - too noisy.

Great beach and service at pool.

Line up for breakfast in Garden Cafe

The hotel was incredible. Great food and great selection. Very attentive staff and no waiting for service in the gardens. Breakfast was a long line up but service was smooth after you are seated. Water sports on the beach are very accessible and well priced. Great day trips and informative guides. Nice local night life. Overall a great stay.

clear clean pools with shades and clean beach and activities and very proactive and helpful staffs.

it was the last minutes plan for a trip to penang. by looking at the intenet of hotel layout and facilities, the clear clean pools and sandy beach attracted my decision to choose for my stay. on arrival to the hotel at the reception itself, we feel like in the holiday village with relaxing atmosphere and all the staffs are so helpful with smiles on their faces. True enough, all of us enjoyed the stay and had a good break from busy city life for that weekend just relaxing at the beach and enjoying the pools.

Hotel right on awesome beach with night market and restaurants and shops at rear of hotel. Great water sports etc., on beach, nice pools & games etc., for kids. Awesome view of ocean from room and good food in reataurant at reasonable prices. Nightly band entertaining.

hawkers hasstle you from the beach if you realx near the path along the beachfront but they give up if you ignore them.

Awesome view of ocean from room and good food in reataurant at reasonable prices. Nightly band entertaining. Room was comfortable a large enough for 2 but the hotel was being renovated and we had a badly leaking aircon in the room which was never repaired & leaked on the carpet daily. Great place to holiday and Penang Island is worth spending a week to 2 weeks exploring. Always felt safe walking around too, evn in city which has a free shuttle daily.

Excellent location next to a night market, friendly staff, great outdoor pool and surrounding area, clean rooms

Beach is not clean for swimming, we could hear our neighbor through the partition door between our room and theirs

We were quite happy with our stay at the Golden Sands Resort. It is located right next to a night market which is awesome for browsing through merchandise and eating at night. The outdoor pool and it surroundings are really nice to swim and relax in. The staff were quite friendly. The buffet breakfast, included with our room, consisted of many items, both Continental and Asian, and was really good. Overall, a good place to vacation or spend your honeymoon

Restaurant Tip : There are many restaurants right next to the hotel including the Long Beach food court which serves excellent food at unbelievably cheap prices

Very good overall concept: spacious rooms with balconies, restaurants, garden and pool area, very gentle personnel, good location in Batu Ferringgi. Excellent breakfast buffet. Good price-quality ratio.

Gradual updating going on in hotel. This time the beach restaurant was closed for renovation. The already renovated Garden Café restaurant was very fresh. Rooms are to be updated: air-con was a bit noisy and ineffective, flushing toilets need also improvement. Beach just outside the hotel was overcrowded with various kind of activities and sea water was far from crystal clear. Nets should be placed against jellyfish.

Golden Sands is very recommendable choice for staying in Batu Ferringgi. Its general environment is excellent with gentle personnel, attractive garden and pool area, good services, excellent breakfast buffet and good location between the beach on one side and business street with night market on the other. Gradual renovation will extend to rooms which need minor improvements e.g. in air-conditioning. Reopening of the beach restaurant will add choices for dining in the hotel. Complimentary bus service to George Town several times a day is useful.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Cruise to Monkey Beach is recommended. The beach there is peaceful, water is clearer and risk of jellyfish probably small, so you can enjoy swimming.

Great staff, lovely grounds, good Italian restaurant

Rooms lovely and large but possibly a little tired

I was disappointed that you were not able to accommodate when I requested just 25 samples of your toiletries for a talk on health care we were giving to the orphanage I teach at in KL. I was told that this was against your policy, however there is always a way around this, particularly when it is such a deserving cause. Every week we spend money out of our pocket to help these disadvantaged children and I didnt think it was a huge request.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Georgetown tour is worth doing, this was most enjoyable and our guide was superb

The layout of the resort was excellent. All parts of hotel were clean and well maintained. Rooms on the ocean side had a balcony with a lovely view of the whole resort. All staff were extremely friendly. The band provided pleasant entertainment each night.

The small mosque below the Hillside rooms does mean that you are woken early each morning by the call to prayer.

The layout of the resort was excellent and all parts of it were kept spotless. A band performed each night and offered entertainment which was not available anywhere else and provided a pleasant diversion from the night markets.

Restaurant Tip : Hotel was right next to the night market. For a cheap meal, try the carpark food court 200 metres from the hotel. There are plenty of different cuisines to choose from and the beer is cold.

Excellent location in Penang, taxi's available outside, located near excellent restaurants. You walk straight out this resort at night to the 'night markets' that run 6.30pm to 10.30pm everyday. Plenty to do, water sports on the beach. Short taxi ride to major shopping complexes. This resort is clean and modern and provides a brilliant breakfast.

Shopping Tip : The night markets are just outside this resort with a number of quality restaurants at very good prices.
