Slightly outdated facilities
Facilities were slightly outdated and some fittings in the room/bathroom were in need of repair. There was a strange smell in the bathroom that gave the impression it wasn't thoroughly clean, the hallways were also a little musky. Concierge and pool facilities were very helpful.

This is not the place for a quiet beach getaway. There were no places for quiet solitude. My bedroom on arrival was incredibly disappointing, and is more a 3 star quality, rather than the 5 start quality I was expecting as I paid a lot of money for the room. My expectations were high, and I couldn't believe the state of the bathroom - brown stains in the bath, the carpets smelt bad in the hallways....the room was all in browns and lacking in taste and comfort. I was miserable and got a transfer to another hotel after just one night. I was supposed to stay 5 nights, but I would never have survived. Hugely disappointing. I am shocked that the management think they can get away with charging such high prices, yet provide such inferior bedrooms and hotel conditions. The name Shangri-La needs to be removed from the G.S. name. One of the hotel managers was very supportive of me and assisted me when I asked about cancelling and moving somewhere else. I commend him for his great attitude and support. He helped me to transfer over to the Shangri La (proper) and I was much, much happier.
