Staff were friendly, room is massive, position is on the beach and then the main street on other side - perfect for the holidayer.
Hotel was being re-lacquered, so was smelly at the time and the workmen enjoyed watching the ladies in the pool. Food was cheaper outside of hotel as was the grog.
Our stay here was fantastic. The locals were great and the tourits were obviously enjoying their time too, which made for an enjoyable time. The room was large and we actually enjoyed our hill view room which also gave us a view of the street, so we could see the markets being set up each night.
Travel tip : The Sunset Restaurant provided great service and food for dinner or lunch. We enjoyed breakfasts to the right of the hotel as you walked past the park royal - a small street vendor that did Roti Canais and Banana Rotis/Pancakes. Catch the Rapid Penang 101 to Georgetown to get around. Cheap and frequent. Michael at the convenience store acros the road and to the left was fabulous for advise.

Big room, double queen size beds, excellent sea view, high floor
Big room can accommodate my family of 5, double queen size beds, excellent sea view from the high floor - at 19th level!
The hotel is next to the famous batu ferringhi beach.
Although the sea water is dirty, the sand and the beach is relatively clean and white. My chilhren has a wonderful time building sand castle.
Also, the sea sports are relatively affordable, such as para-sailing, banana boat, water skiing. Also horse riding is avaiable
Restaurant Tip : Do not eat at THE Ship restaurant. Food is lousy, not hot and expensive too.

closed to the beach, closed to night market, good location with convenient transporation
The hotel is too old which need renovation. Pool size is too small. It would be better for space for water height below 2m. Too many flies at the restaurant. There is no shuttle bus to and from Georgetown.
Bascially it is a good hotel, services are fine, closed to the beach and night market but the facilities are too old especailly the bathroom. Room size is suitable but the pool size is too small that most of the space for water height below 2m is occupied by the childern.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : As the hotel has no shuttle bus to Georgetown, you have to take bus route #101 to Georgetown which may take 45 minutes.
